two simple questions on presentations

Dear list, sorry for asking the following questions, but I wasn't able to find the answers on the reference manual, the wiki or the command list. I wanted to make some cards (and I'm interested also in this features for presentations) that have the following features: -Everything in the cards is centered both horizontally and vertically. \setupalign[lohi] doesn't work outside frames or similar and \setupalign[middle] centers only horizontally. -Page background colors that can be changed from a given point to the rest of the document or the next page background color change. \setupbackgrounds[page][background=color, backgroundcolor=blue] sets the background color for all pages. Halt ConTeXt on Certain Warnings/Errors

Hi all, Is there are way I can have ConTeXt halt on particular warnings or errors? In particular, I like it to spit the dummy when it finds an unknown reference. Otherwise, I end up with the unknown references in the document that I sometimes don't find until much later. At the moment I grep for "reference" when I run context, as in context *.tex | grep reference ...but I thought there might be some more elegant way to do this. Hans, Thankyou for your suggestion of using the \usereferences tag to reference formulas in another document. This is a good solution. However the example below doesn't give usable results because the references to the external formula output by test2.tex does not include the chapter number: test1.tex: ------------- \starttext \chapter{Chapter 1} \placeformula[one] \startformula x = y \stopformula \placeformula[two] \startformula y = z \stopformula \chapter{Chapter 2} \placeformula[three] \startformula z = x \stopformula \stoptext test2.tex: -------------- \usereferences[test1.tex] \starttext \in{formula}[test1.tex::one] \in{formula}[test1.tex::two] \in{formula}[test1.tex::three] \stoptext In the output of test1.tex, the formulas are labeled (1.1), (1.2), and (2.1). In the output of test2.tex the references are labeled 'formula 1', 'formula 2', and 'formula 1' (i.e. the section number is not included). Using the \usereferences tag works if I label formulas 'bytext' rather than by 'bysection' and turn off chapter prefixes in test1.tex using the following at the start of the document: \setupformulae[way=bytext,prefixsegments=None] I would really prefer to maintain numbering by section, but to do this, I need test2.tex to show external references in the same way as test1.tex (by including the section number in front of the equation number). Is there a way to do this at present? orphans and widows in poems

Dear list, I have a document that contains a long poem and although it contains the following code: \setuplayout[setups=*lessstrict] \startsetups[*lessstrict] \setup[reset] \widowpenalty=10000 \clubpenalty=10000 \brokenpenalty=10000 \stopsetups I'm afraid that I get widow lines in the lines environment. embedding ConTeXt code in an xtable

I am now using xtable to have an XMLish document to store a table. How I can embed ConTeXt code like $\Delta{}N_{\text{test}}$ in the external XML file file with the table? In other words, having mathematical notiation in the table header? I tried various things such as: \expanded{\xmlflush{#1}}

Output from Context standalone (actual version) has wrong utf-8 encoding

Hi list rendering a very easy formula with greek text in it produces a pdf-document that has not a valid utf-8 string. I use evince for displaying pdfs under ubuntu linux. The document appears correctly on the screen but stops printing after a greek letter in a formula. The error-report says: Internal Error: cairo context error: input string not valid UTF-8 The same document compiled in live.contextgarden.net doesn't produce a mistake and can be printed with evince. I can still print the document correctly using 'lpr name.pdf', so it's not a big problem for me. But I don't know if that could be a problem for someone else. Hebrew vowel placement in ConTeXt.

I am new to ConTeXt and very impressed. Much thanks to Hans Hagen and Idris Samawi Hamid for an excellent introduction. I am using the Hebrew Ezra SIL Hebrew Unicode Fonts. My question concerns the placement of the Hebrew vowel points ("niqqud"). For most letters, the vowel points are placed too far to the left, as opposed to centered directly under the letter. A short example follows. For some of the letters, e.g., "Hebrew Letter Alef With Qamats" (kind of a t-shaped vowel underneath the alef), the vowel is correctly centered. For others it appears incorrectly to the left. (This may be connected with whether the letter+vowel is packaged as a single character or whether it is being composed on the fly.) I have used the same font in several predecessor programs (the makor package for lamed and the cjhebrew package for LaTeX) and the vowels points are placed correctly. Please let me know if you have any suggestions regarding adjusting the placement of the vowel points. (ConTeXt version info is at the end of the message.) I am using the latest TeXLive update version of MKIV (used tlmgr to update). In a compile time message Context says that it doesn't like: " ! This may be an affect of the above problem, but I don't know. -------------------------------- please take a look at this. I just found out about a unit package, but this should work. Thank.

mathvariant bold NOT bold-italic

Hi, as far as I have understood MathML, elements tagged with mathvariant=bold should be set upright bold, not bold-italic. Could this be corrected, please? Thank you very much!
