(mathematics) Stretching Unicode big operator

If I decide to use, for instance, "Σ" instead of "\sum", this operator is no longer stretched/scaling regardless of the sub/superscripts specified tot it. Is it possible to keep stretching/scaling while using Inicode characters for such operators?

IMO, they should be fully supported. There are not so many fonts with that property and even less in the free software world, so one can assume that somebody possessing such font knows what that means and probably expects its support. I think, context should by default use the appropriate font for each font-size corresponding to the design range defined in the font’s table, while providing an interface to override that automatism. Hi, There is a 'size' table in opentype fonts which contains informations about the design size, the design range and a style-ID and -name. Fonts that come with different optical sizes do in fact use that table exactly for the purpose desired by Andrés. Latin Modern does so, Adobe fonts do so and EB Garamond happens to use that table too. XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX interpret it correctly (by means of fontspec, IIRC). So perhaps it’s worth reconsidering this. Best regards, Georg

What is the status of ConTeXt's various test suites?

Hi, all, There appear to be a number of test suites in existence. (1) The suite on pragma-ade.com. I suspect this is the one Hans actually uses. http://www.pragma-ade.com/download-1.htm (click on cont-tst.7z) (2) The project on foundry.supelec.fr. Most recent file is 3 years old, and most of them are 6-7 years old, AFAICT. To contribute a test to this suite, write it in an e-mail and send it to the mailing list. QUESTION: when one downloads and unzips this file in a directory, how does one run it? * The test suite at github is managed by users, especially Marco Patzer. To run the suite, just download it and run `run-suite.pl`. * The test suite at foundry.supelec.fr is no longer being used. QUESTION: are the tests in it already transferred to Hans or Marco's test suite? If not, is that still something we want to do, or can we just bury this suite entirely?

I am trying to install a font so that Context cn use it. I am using the simplefont module and have a ttf that I'd like to use. There is a lot of conflicting information out about to do this and som is outdated. As for ContTeX I did find a nice article, but it says to use the program texfont, "which ships with ConTex", but I do not have any such file. texfont --ve=sil --co=gentium --makepath --install I am using the TexLive version. Is there any simple method to get this font so that it can be used by ConTex MKIV ?

Hello friends. I'm trying to design a book using the typescript you can find at the end of this message. I'm using the beautiful EBGaramond fonts from Georg Duffner (http://www.georgduffner.at/ebgaramond/) This font provides optical sizes to be used in different sizes (named "12" for 10.1pt or more, and "8" for 10 or less. These fonts automatically work as expected in latex, thanks to a recent package included in CTAN (ebgaramond package), selecting the correct font for the appropriate size. However, the typescript I'm using selects the "8" size for everything, without taking the type size into consideration. Is there any way to make ConTeXt do this automatic selection of fonts regarding of type size? I'm using version 2013.06.10 22:51. Fraktur fonts

Hello list members, an only-a-few-days-fan of Context writes to you for the first time. I'm pleased to have found a program closer to TeX and younger than LaTeX. In the last years I used LaTeX for a bigger family project with good success, but experienced some difficulties in arranging minipages containing changing text and pictures especially in series letters. So I'm trying to do that using Context. Of course I cannot change hundreds of files from LaTeX to Context, but newer tasks I'd like to do in Context. There is a first question I have concerning Fraktur fonts which I'd like to use typesetting a poem: I found a 2-mail-discussion in your 2002-archiv concerning those fonts. But I have to admit that I don't understand what is written there. So, I tried simply \definefont[Gedichtfont][Fraktur] \Gedichtfont{... poem ...} both with "context" and "texexec", but I don't achieve the desired result. "texexec" displays a font somehow similar to Fraktur, but not a very nice one and much to broad; and it seems to have no different "s" (one inner-word and one word-end or syllable-end "s") as needed in Fraktur. And, my "texexec" doesn't know anything about umlauts and sharp s. Whereas my "context" (translating the same program), dosn't know Fraktur, but knows umlauts. So I'm always using both of them, enjoying the partial success of both, though I read somewhere, it should be better using "texexec". Well, a very nice Fraktur font is Yannis Haralambous' "yfrak" in his "yfont" series, the nicest one I've found until now. Could you please help me to formulate the correct commands to use a "nice" Fraktur font, be it "yfrak" or another one? But please remember, Context is still rather confusing to me.
