Hi, Is there a way to set the fallback for fonts when we define them not as a typescript but using \definefont? \definefont[MyFont][Font.otf*MyFeatures] Is there a default fallback one can specify? Is simplefonts module deprecated or discouraged now? When we define a font via typescript commands, we can specify rm, ss, tt, mm, hw and cg shapes for it. Can we add arbitrary styles? For example, I would use this for quotations, headings, etc. Currently, I either have to spare ss or use \definefont for such scenarios. Thanks, --MHB

Hello Everybody, I need to increase my header's space temporarily and according to pg 99 of context_an_excursion "\startlocal ... \stoplocal" is the way to go - unfortunately my LMTX (2021.02.02 15:49) disagrees: \setuppapersize[A4][A4] \setuplayout[ ... header=15mm, ... ] \starttext \input tufte \page \startlocal \setuplayout[header+=20mm] \input tufte \stoplocal \page \input tufte \stoptext This fails: tex error > tex error on line XX in file ./local-layout.tex: Undefined control sequence XX >> \startlocal Do I need to load something in order to use this? Or has it been completely removed? And if so, is there a new alternative method to do the same thing? I was unable to find anything on this topic except https://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg63602.html which raises the same question already in 2012 but never answers it IMHO. Dear List, I would like to know, what i can do, to geht all Math macros with MkII : \showmathcharacters in my Editor: WinEdt. I tried to compile it, but there is a mistake. I tried with \starttext and \stoptext, didn't work. Dear list, I'm typesetting XHTML and there is a couple of cases (tables and math), where I use \postponenotes ... \flushnotes in both their XML setups. The problem arises when I have math inside the cell of a table, so I get those commands nested: \postponenotes % <table> element \postponenotes % <span class="math"> element inside a cell \flushnotes % </span> closing math \flushnotes % </table> closing table With CSS selectors or XML machinery I can find those corner cases, but something like this would be better because more general: \doifnotpostponingnotes{\postponenotes} \dofipostponingnotes{\flushnotes} Is there a way to define those \doif... macros? Hi all. I'm trying to place a TikZ picture in the margin. Actually the command \startmarginblock ... \stop... described in the ConText reference works with a TikZ picture. But the picture, in the margin, gets near the top of the page. I don't understand the meaning of the options (especially the difference between `location' and `align'). And is it `\setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided]'-aware ? If I have an XML element like this: <A x=“one” attribute:B=“two"/> and it has been read in a lua variable foo, I can get at attribute x with foo.at.x But how do I get at attribute:B? Hi, When you allocate a new register (with e.g. \newdimen) that is always a global definition (kind of a tex tradition). As a (likely to stay) experiment I added \newlocaldimen \foo \setnewlocaldimen \foo 123pt and comparable helpers. Some more can be found in lowlevel-scope.pdf in the distribution. The idea is that users who write their own macros that need 'variables' can define them locally without the danger for clashing with system ones (or each others macros). Actually, global assignments only affects that variable, so one can do \bgroup \newlocaldimen\foo \bgroup \global\foo=456pt \egroup ... use \foo \egroup Best use names like \mydimena etc in order nnot to clash with system ones (that can be protected against overload). In spite of redefinitions each time a macro using it gets expanded, performance is quite okay. It falls in the category "interesting hacks but maybe not needed because never asked for", but on the other hand, sometimes availability creates retrospective demand. (I also did \newlocalread and added some extra random access hackery to \read, so who knows what users will abuse that feature for.)
