redirecting temp files (MkII)

Hi all, I use the XeTeX/ConTeXt MkII combi as part of another application. This (Windows) application is installed in the C:\Program Files tree which apparently is marked 'read only' in Vista/Windows 7. Would it be possible to redirect the temp files (*.top, *tui, *.log, *.mp) to a different folder outside C:\Program Files\ ? Texexec.rb comes with an option --tempdir= but that doesn't work. Layout - once again!

Why does the following does not center the text? I am choosing a letter size paper which is 8.5 inches wide. I have both margins at 1.5in and all other distances equal to 0 in. Should the text be not centered. hyphenation problem using |-| in composed words -- bug?

Hi, when using |-| in a word as a non exclusive dash, this produces wrong hyphenation. For example, the word »longer-word-to-be-hyphenated« should be hyphenated e.g. like this: longer- word- to- be- hy- phen- ated but actually it is hyphenated like this: longer -word -to -be -hy- phen- ated Using || instead of |-| works like expected, so using it in combination with \setuphyphenmark[sign=normal] could be considered a workaround. How to show footer only with chapter head

Hi, I have page numbers and chapter headings displayed in my document's header. The header is suppressed on a page with a chapter head i.e. \setuphead[chapter][header=high] therefore I want a footer on these pages to display the page number. The footer should disabled on all other pages. I've tried, \setuphead[chapter][footer=normal] but it overrides \setupfooter[state=none] everywhere, not only on chapter pages. Any ideas? TIA, Elliot

Metapost - Seems like weird behavior. Is it a bug?

The code below shows a cyclic path that I am interested in creating (it is in red if you run the code). The example works fine as long as I have, u:=1cm, as in the code below. But if I replace it by , u:=0.6cm, there is no output. There is an error saying that paths 4 and 3 do not intersect. Is this a bug? Simplefonts and math fonts

Though there is a \setmathfont command, it doesn't seem to work. Adjusting the size of a figure when using placefigure

Please see the figure generated by the following minimal example. Due to the dimensions chosen in the figure, the figure is wider than the text width. Is there an option in \placefigure or another command that can help to make this figure smaller (without changing the code of the original figure)? Chicago citations in endnotes; short titles in bibliographies

I was just looking at the documentation for the Bibliography module and wondering if anyone has tried to implement the full-on Chicago Manual of Style "Author-Title" documentation format for endnotes/footnotes in books -- i.e. citations of the form "Author, Full Title, Publisher, page" followed in subsequent references by "Author, Short Title, page" plus support for "Ibid," "op.cit," and so forth. Seems like this would be hard, but there are a lot of books out there that follow this style (at least in the U.S.), especially in history/social sciences. To do so would require supporting a "\shorttitle" field and adding mechanisms to keep track of what has been cited (in order to implement switching between full and shortened reference forms and enable ibid/op.cit. ). As an editor, this is probably beyond my technical abilities. Even so, if I wanted to mess around with this, where would I start learning about the internals of bibliography support in Context (beyond the documentation for the bib module)? MetaPost integration: default parameters

Hi, ConTeXt already passes quite a few length parameters on to embedded MetaPost code ... BodyFontSize, CurrentWidth etc. Would it be possible to add some more font/math related parameters to the default definitions? I'm thinking of exposing math OpenType parameters like AxisHeight FractionRuleThickness UpperLimitBaselineRiseMin UpperLimitGapMin LowerLimitGapMin LowerLimitBaselineDropMin etc. of the surrounding text to MetaPost as well. This would be very handy for me since I need to draw diagrammatic expressions to be used in formulas and I'd like them to adapt to the current math font and fontsize automatically. At the moment I set these variables manually... Also, is there a way to directly get the glyph outlines of, say, $ \bigotimes$ in MetaPost code and use it to derive some length unit from it? Oliver
