Hi, I just tried to update context with ctxtools --updatecontext. I receive though the following error while preparing the format-files (cont-en.fmt) (/Applications/luatex/tex/texmf-local/tex/context/base/core-inc.mkiv ! LuaTeX error ...luatex/tex/texmf-local/tex/context/base/core- inc.lua:85: attempt to index global 'img' (a nil value). \ctxluabytecode ...ode " .. Numbering in margin

Hi all, I want some numbers to appear in the paragraph. It's for a commentary, so the numbering isn't continuous, but pretty arbitrary. The problem is, I need two sets of numbers (for sections and subsections), and I want both in the margin, like so: 1 1 Some text 3 More text 4 Even more 3 1 And more 2 and so on 5 Sometimes, there are sections without subsections So far, I have succeeded in doing this with some low-level trickery by defining two commands, LEVELONE and LEVELTWO: \def\LEVELONE#1 {\dontleavehmode\llap{#1\kern1.8em \null}} \def\LEVELTWO#1 {\dontleavehmode\llap{\tfx #1\kern1em \null}} (I need to gobble the space after the command, that's why I included it in the \def). However, I'm wondering if there's a more ConTeXt-like way of doing this, since my next project will be to do this for xml files. I had tried with \inmargin[1] and \inmargin[2], but that didn't quite do what I expected. Any thoughts on this? All best Thomas

processing xml in mkiv

Hi all, xml processing is about the last part of my ConTeXt stuff where I haven't been able to switch to mkiv; I just can't get my head around it... 2 questions: 1. When I try to process a xml-file with my old (mkii) environments, the output looks OK, but I always get a first page with the xml version declaration <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> Is this a bug or a feature? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? 2. I'm really lost with the new xml mechanism. My first problem: In a message from September last year, Hans explained that the command to process xml files is: > The regular definitions still work but processing a file is done > differently: > > \xmlprocess{id}{filename}{optional initialization setup} I used to have environments with which to typeset a bunch of files. How can this be ported to the new mechanism, which appears to expect a filename? Sorry if these are very basic problems, but I'm probably a bit obtuse here. All best Thomas

Hello, I would like to separate multiple keywords with newline-chars. The following doesn't work: \setupinteraction[keyword={first\r\n,second\r\n,third},state=start] How can this be done? Gruß, Wolfgang

Incompatibility bib num style / reference prefix option

Hi, I think I discovered a bug in the 'num' alternative of the bib module. It seems to be incompatible with the prefix=+ option of referencing. The following example gives an unknow reference: % tex file \usemodule[bib] \setupbibtex[database=biblio] \setuppublications[alternative=num] \setuphead[chapter][prefix=+] % <<<< OK if commented \starttext \chapter[chap:one]{One} % <<<< OK if commented Text \cite[test] text. \completepublications \stoptext % bib file biblio.bib @BOOK{test, title = {T}, publisher = {P}, year = {Y}, author = {A} } By the way, the 'num' alternative also gives an unknow reference when \completepublications is not present, while the default alternative is OK. A new feature for \digits: \digits{e-1}

Hi everyone, In LaTeX, the numprint package provides the \numprint command, and is pretty useful when typing numbers. It is quite similar to the \digits ConTeXt command. However, the two commands differ when it comes to this example: \numprint{e-1} \digits e-1 In this case, the \numprint command ommits the \cdot in front of the 1O^-1, whereas \digits does not. My question is: is it a deliberate choice? If not, would it be possible to modify the \digits command in order to reproduce the behavior of \numprint? Best wishes, Morgan

Arrange a pdf file

Hi, I do not understand what is going on here: Earlier one could say: texmfstart texexec --arrange --print=2UP --environments=arrange code- review.pdf with in the environment file: \definepapersize [offset=15pt] \setuppapersize [A5,landscape][A4,portrait] \setuplayout [backspace=0pt, topspace=0pt, width=middle, height=middle, location=middle, header=0pt, footer=0pt] \setuppagenumbering[location=,alternative=doublesided] \starttext \copypages[code-review.pdf][width=0pt] \stoptext Resulting in a neat arranged document. However with the earlier and latest version (march 11) this fails, because the pdf-file (in this example "code-review") is deleted! !pdfTeX error: pdftex (file ./code-review.pdf): reading image file failed ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! mplib

Hi, as some of you may know, there is an mplib project .. last week taco and spent quite some time on exploring the integration in luatex (and therefore mkiv) experiments with loadiing the format, processing graphics and conversion to pdf show a throughput of less than 0.001 seconds per graphic; a usual we did much timing and although experimental, the code is already pretty okay, just to give an idea: mkiv lua stats : metapost processing time - 6.834 seconds (loading: 0.014 seconds, execution: 1.474 seconds, n: 15000) indeed, that's 15K graphics in 7 seconds. so, the next couple of months i'll start providing an adapted mp handling mechanisms. among the possible options are - extensions based on pre/postscripts (instead of specials) - multiple mp engines (\startuseMPgraphic[metafun]{name} and such) so, if you have specific wishes ... now is the time to let them know Hans ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

luatools --find-file cont-en.lua

Hello, What is "luatools --find-file" supposed to find? It finds files like context.tex but no lua files like l-table.lua or cont-en.lua. "texmfstart --locate" finds also the lua files. Greetings, Peter -- http://pmrb.free.fr/contact/
