If not, maybe the mkii implementation has never worked for that purpose... it's possible, since urls are breaking after hyphens when lang-url.mkii says to break before hyphens. If this is the case (\sethyphenatedbefore/after in mkii is broken), then rather than awaiting a fix for the soon-obsolete mkii implementation, maybe I can do a workaround. I need help with the tex details though, please, as I am still very much a tex newbie... We are generating our tex document, so verbosity is not a problem, but irregularity would be. Rather than inserting \break in various places manually, which would have to be redone often, I could automatically insert \discretionary or \allowbreak before/after the appropriate characters in the tex document. Would that work? How would I suppress hyphenation at other points -- \dontleavehmode or something like that? Thanks again, Lars

Minimals, Linux & OSFONTDIR

I have more that two path for my fonts: - /usr/local/share/fonts -/usr/share/fonts When I do one path, it works fine; however, if I put two paths as follows: export OSFONTDIR=/usr/local/share/fonts:/usr/share/fonts it does not pick up the fonts in both directories. Admitedly, this is my fault, but could someone help out? Thanks, Bart

Minimals & \placefootnotes

I have loaded the minimals packaging on my system. In running through some code I'm finding that \placefootnotes does not appear to be working (or at least it's different than MkII. With the minimals, the footnotes always appear at the bottom of the page, not where the \placefootnotes command is placed. Is this a bug, or do I need to make some changes? \setupfootnotes[location=text] \starttext Here is a footnote.\footnote{Here's the first footnote} And yet, another. \footnote{The second.} \placefootnotes Here is some more text, with another footnote.\footnote{The third footnote.} \placefootnotes \stoptext Thanks, Bart

patterns for German in mkiv

Hi all, something fishy is going on with hyphenation patterns for German in mkiv. Here's a minimal test file: \starttext {\de \hyphenatedword{sich}} \stoptext please compile with mkii and mkiv and see the difference. The word should of course not be hyphenated. All best Thomas
