can not include movie

Dear All, ConTeXt user manual says movies are just like figures, but when I process \starttext \placefigure[here]{none}{\externalfigure[demo.mov][width=0.7\textwidth, height=.7\textwidth, label=demo, preview=yes]} \stoptext with context filename.tex using the latest minimals without any custom settings I do not get movie included. What can be wrong? I am a ConTeXt newbie and fail to see any possible place for errors in the above test case. Sincerely, Michail

chapter-like headings with separate numbering

I'm experimenting with making a heading that is like a chapter in format but has its own numbering (or lettering). The purpose to have an interlude, or extended example, every few chapters. The following almost-minimal example almost does so. However, the second interlude is numbered with 'A' instead of 'B'. File fails to compile

Dear all, I made a poster about two months ago. Today I cloned it to make a different one. I am using MacTex 2008 distribution and XeConTeXt . I am using fonts such as Hoefler, Gentium, Junicode etc. The original file and the new one stick at the console readout below. I uninstalled 2008 distribution completely and reinstalled but I get the same result. The files give me pdf output if I use just ConTeXt but of course I do not get the fonts. I would be most grateful if anyone could offer advice. context minimals on OpenSolaris 2008.11

Hello list members and ConTeXt gods, this question is more technical than TeXnical but none the less ConTeXt releated. Today I am investigating if I can replace linux with OpenSolaris, so I am testing every, even exotic, software that I use on my linux box on OpenSolaris. Looking into first-setup.sh there seem to be support for Solaris on Intel hardware called "sunos-intel". vertical alignment in footer

Hello: I am a recent convert from LaTeX to conTeXt. kudos to all the developers! I have read through the wiki and as many tutorials/manuals as I can find. My problem is that I have a footer which includes a logo. I would like all the elements in the footer to be vertically centred, where as now they are aligned along the bottom. difference between TeX behavior and ConTeXt

Hello, I've been reading through the TeXbook to solidify the foundations for TeX programming. In an exercise on roman and italic text, ConTeXt seems to behave differently from what the book specifies (Plain TEX) at a fairly fundamental level. Exercise 4.1 says, "Explain how to typeset a roman word in the midst of an italicized sentence." I wrote, and the solution in the appendix says, {\it Explain how to typeset a\/ {\rm roman} word in the midst of an italicized sentence.} But when I typeset this using texexec, the word "roman" appears in italic, just like the rest of the sentence. I tried this on both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux, with both PDFTex and Xetex engines. On Windows I'm using ConTeXt minimal, and on Linux I'm using ConTeXt from the TeXLive 2008 CD. The result is the same in all cases: all the text is italicized. Does this difference in behavior represent a known "feature" of ConTeXt? If so, is it a difference in the defined behavior of \rm? When I put \show\rm in the .tex file to display the definition of the \rm macro, and run texexec, I get: > \rm=\protected macro: ->\setcurrentfontstyle {rm}. l.7 \show\rm By contrast, according to http://webpages.charter.net/davidlha/.trm/trmi.html, "Plain TeX defines \rm to be `\fam=0 \tenrm'." So clearly the definition of the \rm macro is different in ConTeXt than it is in Plain TeX. I could understand ConTeXt possibly changing the details of \rm's definition, e.g. a change in default font family; but it would really be surprising to find that the logic of \rm's behavior has been changed. Please help me understand if this is a bug or if there is a design principle of ConTeXt that I should be aware of... Thanks, Lars

The rules of Chinese breaking lines don't work

Hi, Today when I updated the newest beta, I found that Chinese breaking lines failed. ConTeXt + BibTeX problem

Hi everybody. I have two files: "texfile.tex" and "references.bib". They are attached and also copied in the bottom of the email. There is one citation. The **problem** is: the citation appears correctly in the body of the text in the PDF, but the References list is empty. However, if one changes line 14 \subsection{Top trading procedures} to \subsubject{Top trading procedures} then everything works: the citation appears correctly *and* the reference appears in the References list. I don't know why. Any ideas? Weighted colors in MkIV

Hi, in MkIV there is a problem when I set tints for a color.
