texexec command line parameters (help)

I am experimenting with the various texexec command line options, but it is a bit confusing. I want to minimize the number of runs and suppress as much of the messages as possible. I tried (windows standalone context) : 1) texmfstart --pdf --runs=1 --silentmode texfile.tex This still gave 3 runs with all the Context messages displayed. After a bit of experimenting it turns out that I have to use 2) texmfstart --pdf texfile.tex --runs=1 --silentmode It works, but I am not sure what the correct way is for the other options. The manual mtexexec.pdf (a bit outdated) says I have to use method 1). Also the Wiki page http://wiki.contextgarden.net/TeXExec suggest method 1). Running texexec --help --all does not mention the order in which these parameters should be specified. TIA Wim Neimeijer

metafun externalfigure macro with xetex

Hi all, if i use the metafun macro "externalfigure" with xetex, there is a printed number (first externafigure prints a "1", the second a "2" right after the "1" and so on) in the lower left corner of the picture; the picture itself is shifted to the upper right, out of the bounding box. I have this effect with xetex 996p1, 997-dev, ConTeXt 17.04.07 and the newest beta. Pdftex in this case works very well. Is this a Bug in Xetex or in ConTeXt? Greetings Lutz

Hi, I am slightly confused with the second part of the following example. IMO only the 1st level should be packed, not the second. Reset a setup directive

Hi Folks, Is there a way to reset a \setupSomeThing[ ] directive? Consider for instance a complex setup for TABLES. Imagine I have used this setup for some parts of the document, but later on I want to have a radically different setup for TABLES, say. Is there a convenient way to do this as we can do with \reset[counter]. saji -- Saji N. :: in xml?

Salvete, trying to typeset an unchanged old file with a more recent ConTeXt version, I keep running into problems. I have reduced the first of these (others may or may not be symptoms of the same, I'll see that later) to this input: \starttext \startXML <a>a::b</a> \stopXML \stoptext It seems the xml parser does something special with colons in the content of elements. I don't think it should and this is probably just a left-over from looking for xml namespaces, but that is just a guess. Regards, Christopher

Bug in dowithpargument and paragraph ending in a macro

Hi, Consider this: \starttext \section This is ok I like the loose format \section why \unknown This does not work \stoptext which gives ./test.tex:8: Paragraph ended before \nextpar was complete. <to be read again> \par l.8 I suspect you've forgotten a `}', causing me to apply this control sequence to too much text. How can we recover? My plan is to forget the whole thing and hope for the best. This seems to be a bug in dowithpargument. As a temporary workaround, I can just enclose the section in braces, but it will be nice if \dowithpargument behaves correctly in this situation. Aditya

That has got me sorted for today, though it would be great to understand, at a more leisurely pace, if there is a way to do this from within the .tex file. I was experimenting with wrapping the placefigure in something that stopped the list from being written, but didn't get anywhere. Anyway, thanks a lot, this has saved my bacon for today. :-) Duncan

Hi, it seems that the description of what I am looking for is unfortunately still not understandable. Thus I searched the internet for some on-line material to link to. CMYK and spot colour confusion

Hi there, I'm trying to get to grips with all these colours in ConTeXt and MetaFun ... I could separate the channels c, m, y, k via texexec --separation=c file.tex etc. but on the individual channels c, m and y the black headings as well as all spot colours kept appearing. Shouldn't the cyan channel contain only cyan and nothing else? Also, I have no clue how to separate the spot colours ... Both texexec --separation=PANTONE328CS file.tex and texexec --separation=my_green file.tex spilled out tons of error messages. What could I improve to make this work? Cheerio, Oliver
