Minimal ConTeXt in 64 bits machine

Hi, Is it possible to install the minimal context distribution in a 64 bits machine? I downloaded 'justtext' and 'linuxtex' zip files, and I see that the environment setup script sets TEXFOS variable to a 64 bits specific directory when it detects a 64 bits machine. However, that directory does not exist in those zip files. Can I get it somewhere else? I'm using Ubuntu 7.04. Thanks, Maurício

\overleftrightarrow

I'm preparing a geometry course using ConTeXt and am impressed with the system so far. One thing I need is to do is typeset various geometrical symbols. It looks like ConTeXt already has the \overleftarrow and \overrightarrow commands, but one thing I'd like to have is \overleftrightarrow, for typesetting the symbol customarily used to denote the line determined by two points. It seems, though, that this isn't available in ConTeXt, or, at least, it is not available by default. I tried looking on the contextgarden and google, but didn't come across anything. Weird Problem

Hi all, I'm a complete newbie to ConTeXt (aka recent convert from a GUI world and WYSIWYG typesetting), so please forgive my ignorance. :) I'm having some problems typesetting a simple practice document that used to compile fine before. Recently, after modifying part of the text (not the code, which to the best of my knowledge appears correct, since I haven't encountered any errors), I can no longer see the title page, page numbers or headers, and paragraphs don't indent as they used to, when they did before. Again, I didn't change any of the code, at least AFAIK. Is this a bug, or just user error? Do I need to update ConTeXt? If so, how? (if you could, please provide step-by-step directions, as I'm a beginner to the command-line interface as well, I'm afraid). I'm running the Jan 2007 version of ConTeXt bundled with the MacTeX 2007 distribution on Mac OS 10.4.10. I've also provided the sample document for reference, in case that helps. A prompt response would be highly appreciated! error in textbackground with metapost

There must be something badly amiss in the textbackground processing. Below a small example demonstrating the problem. When a block falls badly on a page boundary an error occurs as shown. One may have to tweak the \blank[] in order to get the error depending on local font settings etc. In my case 0.78 shoved the second block to page 2 without an error but from 0.79 onwards the error occurs. At 0.66 the block is split after the third line, but at 0.68 again the error shows. TeX complains as follows. ! TOC, listalternative d, ragged right, interaction

Hi, I'm trying to alter the formatting of the table of contents for a document of chapters and sections. After searching the ConTeXt manuals, source and the list archive, I've only four more things I'd like to change. This is where I ask for your help. My current setup (for the table of contents): | \setupinteraction [state=start] | \setuplistalternative [a] [command=\hskip.8em] | \setupcombinedlist [content] [alternative=a, interaction=all, | level=section, partnumber=no] | \setuplist [chapter] [after=\blank, before=\blank, | numberstyle=\tfd, pagestyle=italic, style=\tfa, | width=1.75em] | \setuplist [section] [alternative=d, headnumber=no, | interaction=pagenumber, margin=1.75em, | pagestyle=italic] This produces a table of contents like that: | 1 Chapter One 1 | Section A 1 Section B 2 Section C 3 Sec- | tion D 5 Section E 12 Here are my questions: (2 to 4 are of lower priority for me) 1. How can I setup the toc to get the sections (or listalternative d) to be set ragged right? 2. Is it possible to insert text between the section-pagenumber and the following section-text? (Section A 1 -- Section B 2 -- Section C 3) ^^ ^^ 3. I can't alter the distance between section-text and pagenumber. Changing the command option for listalternative a does it for chapters. But this doesn't work for listalternative d. 4. Can I get interaction=all for listalternative d?. Only interaction=pagenumber produces interaction. If I set interaction to all or text, I don't get interaction for the sections. I'm using ConTeXt 2007.04.17 with pdfTeXk 3.141592-1.40.3 from TeXlive 2007 on Gentoo/Linux. Customizing chapter titles

Hi, All-- I am attempting to typeset a book in ConTeXt, but I am having some problems with chapter titles: 1) The font I am using for titles is completely different from the body font. I am trying to experiment with a couple of different variants, though. The following works fine: \setuphead [chapter] [ .... style={\switchtobodyfont[CopperplateGothicCondensed, 15pt]}, .... ] However, I may want to set the chapter titles in bold. So I've tried: style={\switchtobodyfont[CopperplateGothicCondensed-Bold, 15pt]}, but this doesn't work: the titles default to the body text font (a Garamond clone). It's not that the bold font is unavailable, because if I use the first version and add: numberstyle=\bf it has the expected/desired result: the chapter number appears in Copperplate Gothic Condensed Bold. I have also looked through the pertinent typescript and map files, and there are no misspellings; the required font files (tfm, vf, and pfb) are all present. Furthermore, I've checked the log file, and the right typescript and map files are always loaded; also, there is nothing in missfont.log. But somehow, when I specify the Bold font, it just doesn't get loaded. 2) In order to get the titles just right, I may need to use customized commands (used via the [text|number]command parameters of \setuphead). But when I attempt to use such commands, TeX usually fails with the error: ! Argument of [my command name] has an extra }. This is not true as far as I can see--at least all the curly braces match in the source file. Here is one example of a command that causes the error: \def\ChapterNumber#1 { \switchtobodyfont [CopperplateGothicCondensed-Bold, 15pt] #1 } I've tried various commands; this one works: \def\SmallSpace#1{\setupinterlinespace[line=1.6ex]#1} but everything else I have tried fails. Is it something to do with white space in the definition? I am using the 2007-01-23 release of ConTeXt on 2 different machines. Both run Linux, but on one I have teTeX 3.0, while on the other one I am using the minimal TeX provided by Pragma ADE. I have run the same files on both machines, and I don't think the TeX distribution makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. -- Matt Gushee

Linetables ROW alignment

Hello all again, I'm using linetables, because despite their lack of documentation they've been rather easy to set up to achieve the effects I needed (colors, alignment, etc). I have a small problem with the title row though, because I would like its entries to be all typeset centered (whereas the rest of columns has them partly left and partly right aligned) but apparently there is no (easy) way to override alignment in a single row. In particular, \setuplinetable[r][1][align=middle] doesn't work, even though all other specifications (color, background, style) work as expected. I think that if a row alignment is required, it should be applied and take precedente over column alignment. Any suggestions? -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta P.S. Looking at core-ltb.tex I've found that \BH and \EH are mapped to \linetableBR and \linetableER. Is this intentional, or a cut-n-paste error? The way it is now, \linetableBH and \linetableEH are never triggered ...

Different parameters for a continuing itemization

I use \startitemize[continue] quite a lot to create itemised lists which continue on from the last number of the previous list. I've only just noticed that the 'continue' keyword seems to mean that parameters in the second [...=...] list of a \startitemize are ignored. Example (tested on live @ contextgarden): \setupcolors[state=start] \starttext Hello world! \startitemize[n][color=blue,stopper={jkl}] \item Hello world! \item Hello world! \stopitemize Hello world! \startitemize[n,inmargin,continue][color=red,stopper={mnb}] \item Hello world! \item Hello world! \stopitemize \stoptext Note that the inmargin keyword in the second \startitemize does seem to work, but the parameters in the second set of [...=...] are ignored. I would really like to be able to continue numbering but be able to override formatting in the continuing list. I *thought* I had been able to do this before, but maybe not. If continue needs to keep this behaviour, is there any chance of a new continuenumberingonly keyword, or similar? :-) (The real world example involves moving from numbering in columns to numbering in the margin, but I need to adjust the width parameter for the continuing list, and it won't let me.)
