Hello list, I'm trying to install new fonts in my texmf tree but at each try I stop at the same point, when compiling my test file: (./type-doulos.tex) ! Font \*doulos12ptrmtfrm*:=DoulosSil at 12.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found. I've got this problem not only with doulos but with gfs fonts too, and others. Font installation in the texmf tree with texfont works well. I can compile without any problem the texnansi-sil-doulos.tex file (idem with other files). What am I doing wrong? French spacing with pdfTeX-1.40 and ConTeXt-beta

Hello, my attempt to get correct French spacing before punctuation does no more work with the latest ConTeXt-beta. Is there now a new method with pdfTeX-1.40 to get automatically the good spacing? Some questions about lua && context

Hi, today I have looked into luatex and read the FAQ http://www.luatex.org/faq.html Just for my curiosity, have you looked into neko?! http://www.nekovm.org/ I don't know when you have decide to go to lua and if then neko was out. Thanks to satisfied my curiosity ;- ) Regards Aleks

character redefinition environment

Hi list, I want to assign Metapost graphics to single letters (in a newly defined evironment, that take care of these assignments). The purpose is being able to rapidly build huge tables containing lots of these symbols. Everything works fine if I assign these graphics to non-letters, e.g. "|", but somehow it doesn't work with normal letters. Here is what I tried (with a simple Foo instead of Metapost graphics): \definesymbol[foosymbol][{\tt Foo}] \def\startmychars{% \bgroup\catcode`\|=\active\def|{\symbol[foosymbol]}} \def\stopmychars{\egroup} This works with | as reassigned character without any problems. But, we want to have normal characters in the table, no punctuation marks, etc. Does anyone know what to do to reassign a special definition for a letter e.g. like uppercase B or else? I got this error: (/usr/local/share/texmf/tex/context/base/pdfr-ec.tex) ! Undefined control sequence. \startmychars ...up \catcode `\B=\active \defB {\symbol[foosymbol]} l.24 \startmychars which seems to indicate that B is not recognized as active character in the "\defB"? Any hints very welcome, Enzo.

using pgf/tikz and bib modules together

Apropos the bib module, ConTeXt users wishing to use both the pgf/tikz module (v1.10) and the bib module together, will (currently) have to use the CVS version of pgf because both modules clash with the use of the .aux file. The following was posted by the pgf developer Till Tantau on the pgf maillist: "it turns out that, indeed, the .aux writing of the bib module clashes with pgf's usage of the file of the same name. I renamed this stuff to .pgf and it works fine, now. You will need to get the current CVS of pgf since the change is not quite trivial. Alternatively, a quick-and-easy-fix is to find the file pgf/generic/ pgf/utilities/pgfutil-context.def and to delete the three lines having to do with .aux files at the beginning. Then picture remembering will not work (which it does in the CVS), but that may not be a top priority." I'm assuming the new bib module still uses the .aux file for the same purposes as before. Compiling the magazines

Hello everyone! I'm trying to get started with ConText. I've setup a stand alone install with perl and ruby on windows (last version). I was quite impressed with the "This way" magazine layout... and was trying to compile the example code that comes in the 000 edition. But the result is nothing like the original: all side texts are on wrong places, body text goes through the paper margins: a mess! Maybe some margins or papersize settings that are implicit and I don't have in my environment ? I'd be glad if somebody could give me some tips on this! The code is pasted below. Unwanted space before a \HL in tables

Hi, now I have a new conTeXt, but tables remain tricky. question about linenotes

I'm playing with (and happy about) linenotes; I'm just running into one small (?) problem. Here's a testfile: \starttext % \setuplinenumbering[location=intext,step=2] \startlinenumbering Long and boring text that has \linenote{note one} no other sense than demonstrating a problem with the linenote command in ConTeXt. \stoplinenumbering \stoptext Run it, then comment out the \setuplinenumbering command. Is there a way of having linenotes displayed correctly even when the numbers are not displayed because of the step= setting? Thanks Thomas
