Further questions about linenotes

Hi all, further experiments with linenotes have brought up two further questions; one specific, one general. Here comes: 1. Is it possible to have linenumbering automatically reset its numbering to 1 at the top of every page? I have a dim recollection that something along these lines was asked on the list recently, but can't find anything in the archive. 2. General: I had to experiment quite a bit with the before= and after= keys of \setupnote to make them really do what I wanted. Here's what I found: a. before=\blank[1cm] % texexec will fail with an error b. before={\blank[1cm]} % does nothing c. \def\myblank{\blank[1cm] before=\myblank % works I guess it has something to do with TeX's expansion mechanism, but I found it confusing, and I think (hope?) that others will find it a bit confusing too. Is this intentional, can it be made easier for users? All best Thomas

hanging indentation

Hi there, after some hours trying to figure out how to have hanging indentation for the different requirements of three documents, I'd would like to know how to set hanging indentation for standard paragraphs without having to use \star..\stop routines. I guess that \setupindenting would be the way, but I don't know how to do it. Thanks for your help, Pablo

French spacing and pdfTeX-1.40

Hello, (it's a repost, in case my previous email got lost...) my attempt to get correct French spacing before punctuation does no more work with the latest ConTeXt-beta. Is there now a new method with pdfTeX-1.40 to get automatically the good spacing (as announced some months ago)? beta: bug with transparent colors in fields

Hi Hans, the support of transparent colors in fields seems to be broken (beta 03.11.06). The attached example works with a non transparent backgroundcolor, but breaks with a transparent one. Same behaviour on ConTeXt Live. \definecolor [notebackgroundcolor] % [s=.85] [s=1,a=1,t=.9] There is another problem with field activation (not in this example). When the doc opens, the fields (region in/out) are kind of inactive. Normally a tooltip note is shown/hidden, if the area is entered/left. Only after "activating" the fields by pressing "R" and "H" in Acrobat, they become alive. After that they work as expected. I am still working on a minimal example for this case. \definetype breaks down ---

Hi Hans, I just noticed a bug with the type mechanism. It breaks down the kerning for ---. Minimal example: \definetype[typeTEX][option=tex] \starttext \typeTEX|\example|. this---breaks---down. \stoptext Any workarounds? Aditya

Avoiding page breaks in self-defined Note environment

Dear all, I'm having a problem with unwanted page breaks using ConTeXt. Imagine a note environment that is separated from normal text by horizontal rules: -------------------------- Note - Notice that this text is embedded in... -------------------------- The problem however is that ConTeXt sometimes breaks the page after the first rule or just before the second, which, as you can image, is pretty ugly. I have defined a command to avoid this: \def\MyHR{nobreak\hairline\nobreak } The tex file looks like this: \MyHR{} {\bf{Note --}} Notice that this text is embedded in... \MyHR{} However, this does not work. The background is that I am using a parser to translate MediaWiki markup to PDF using ConTeXt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Martin Becker

combining multiple accents

Hello, I always thought that "any accent can be placed on any character" in TeX. However, probably due to some boxes, this fails to work sometimes. So how can I create "a with cedilla and ring above" for example: \r{\c a}? (Yes, I know that I can switch the order: \c{\r a} works as expected, but I need to create more complicated cases in general and I don't want to depend on whether the accent will be placed properly or not.) Is there any simple cure for that? Thanks a lot, Mojca

typesetting proofs

Dear all, Searching the lists, I found one and I got the output what I want as following image. But, as you noticed, there is a lot spaces between "Theorem" and the start of the text. Also there is the same space between "Proof" and the start of the text. Is it normal? or Is there any method to reduce the spaces? Thank you for reading. Shapes spanning multiple grid cells in flowchart

Hello, I've just started to use Context because of its great flowcharting module. However, I'd like to use shapes that span multiple grid cells. This is what I would like to accomplish: |-------| |-------| |-------| | |<-->| box 2 |<-->| box 3 | | | |-------| |-------| | box 1 | | | |-------| |-------| | |<-->| box 4 |<-->| box 5 | | | |-------| |-------| | | | | | | |-------| I could not find a way to do this in the manual.
