Hiding the content (drawing empty boxes?)

Hello, Some TeX challenge (probably not solvable?): for gurus only. Is there a way to somehow \starthidden ... \stophidden, which would leave exactly the same amount of blank space as if the content would be typeset? Adam suggested to use transparent font colour, but this doesn't solve the problem as this won't stop the images, frames and nested \color[red]{font color changing commands} being displayed. I tried to adapt the macro \demobox from the TeXBOOK which processes token by token and draws an empty box instead of that token. It works perfectly as long as there is only plain text between the braces, but as soon there is something more complex, it breaks. This behaviour is probably to be expected, but I have no idea how to let all the commands do what they are expected to do and only prohibit placing any boxes with some content. Thanks, Mojca

How to override a font in a typescript

Practical example: when I set up palatino, the typescript file set 'modern' as the typeface (which again tries to load the lm files :)) Assume now that I want to overrule that choice, and only that choice. Can I do this from within my source file? -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta

Preliminary support for the Luxi typeface

Why does ConTeXt try to load Latin Modern?

I just upgraded my MiKTeX and ConTeXt, and I found out that ConTeXt tries to load Latin Modern regardless of my choice. Example document: """ \setupbodyfont[ppl,rm,12pt]% \starttext Hello, world! \stoptext """ Discarding my \setupbodyfont, ConTeXt tries to load ec-lmr12. Suggestions? -- Giuseppe "Oblomov" Bilotta

bug in mptopdf

Hi Hans, I am afraid there is a bug in the latest mptopdf. It presents itself by spurious spaces in the output for long postscript strings. Here is an example: % uncomment next two lines for viewing in gv(1) %defaultfont := "Times-Roman"; %prologues := 1; beginfig(1); label ("This string wraps to a second line"& " in the metapost output",(origin)); endfig; end. The created pdf document has a space after the p in metapost. literal escape strings in bookmarks

Below is a simple example of chapter/section titles containing characters that need to be escaped. Although the page content turns out correctly, the PDF bookmarks contain the literal escape string instead or the desired character. Any ideas how avoid this? how to create many blank pages

I need to create a book with many blank pages (with its header & footer texts). Is there any easy way to create, say, 300 blank pages one after the other, wihout using \page 300 times? I guess what I need is to know how to loop within context. thank you Ciro
