This is what I get after I followed the installation manual and the wiki. I did generated all formats. Metapost produces "unknown"

Hi, I tried an example for generating linear text placement. % File text.mp input mp-tool ; % some initializations and auxiliary macros input mp-spec ; % macros that support special features prologues := 2; beginfig(1) draw hlintext.lft(0, 20, 5, 20cm, "@3e") ; draw vlogtext.bot(0, 10, 9, 10cm, "@3e") ; endfig; end; %----------------------------- and compile it using $texexec -mptex text.mp (Output given at bottom) I get the error unknown file type: texmfscripts and the eps file text.1 has "unknown" written all over the place. There is something misconfigured in my system (Windows XP Miktex, updated tonight). Can someone help me to debug the problem. I would like to install context with scite on my computer. This runs WinXp. Trying to download mswincontext.zip from the pragma site comes up with the message url not found. How do most people install this on a windows system or this is mostly used by linux users. thanks vs

Degree sign half-works

Hi all. The following, when run through live.contextgarden.net (and my own installation), produces odd results: %Input is utf8 (Unicode) \enableregime[utf] \useencoding[uc] %MathML is processed directly \useXMLfilter[utf] \usemodule[mathml] \starttext Test normal text: 180Â° Test MathML: \startXMLdata <math display="block" id="gincp74b"> <mrow> <mn>108</mn><mo>Â°</mo> </mrow> </math>\stopXMLdata \stoptext When the degree sign appears in normal text it works fine, when it appears in MathML it comes out as $^$. I have been searching in the base files but can't see the hook. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this? Thanks. Duncan

columnset's bodyfont+interlinespace ?

Hi, when using \startcolumns I could use: \startcolumns[n=2,rule=off] \setupindenting[none] \switchtobodyfont[8.5pt]\setupinterlinespace[line=10pt] \clubpenalty=0\widowpenalty=10000\displaywidowpenalty=10000\brokenpenalty=0 ... but when using \definecolumnset[myset][n=2] \startcolumnset[myset] \switchtobodyfont[8.5pt]\setupinterlinespace[line=10pt] ... doesn't work (actually it ends in halfempty pages). How to set fontsize+interlinespace with columnsets ? Steffen

nice winxp sp2 blue screen if rsync

I've tryed using (is that natural?) rsync on win xp (for testing Hans method for updating Contex). It works smooth if you stay away from xp sp2. Otherwise, you get a blue screen complaining about memory pbs (error/non error tested twice, on 2 differents win$$box). -- Olivier TURLIER

So I am looking for some native speakers to help me translating. Questions about TOC

A very timid question: did anything change in the recent versions about generation of TOCs? I could swear that this worked a couple of weeks ago, but I can't make it work now: 1) I want numbered and unnumbered chapters, so I use \chapter{} and \title{}. I thought that the \title-parts were included in the TOC by default, but they don't show up, regardless of what I do. 2) I can't get any of the alternatives to work properly. Here's an sample file: \starttext \setupcombinedlist[content][alternative=c] \placecontent \chapter{1} \section{a} \section{b} \section{c} \chapter{2} \section{a} \section{b} \title{I} \section{a} \section{b} \section{c} \title{II} \stoptext Tried appending the [alternative=c] to \placecontent as well, no change.
