combination figures

Hi. I have the following code in my source, to try to get a combination of two figures in one: \placefigure {10,000 random|-|value pixels added} \startcombination[2] {\externalfigure[noise1][height=.4\textwidth]}{image 1} {\externalfigure[noise2][height=.4\textwidth]}{image 2} \stopcombination ... but I get an error, so I am probably doing something wrong. The whole log is below. My context version is pretty new, as the transcript shows. first attempt to run mp

Hi all! I've just made a quick test -- running metapost with ConTeXt. The sample code was just: \starttext The simplest metapost code sample \startMPgraphic fill unitsquare scaled 123 withcolor (.2,.3,.4) ; \stopMPgraphic \stoptext which looks ok, right? And of course mpost creates nice navy square from that code. But running texexec --automprun sample.mp cause a serious system error; ''There is a problem with mpost.exe and bla bla bla''. Smart and clever' windows XP try to report that problem to microsoft. The problem occur just after terminal says This is MetaPost, Version 0.641 (Web2c 7.3.7x) (mpgraph.mp and after that system display an error box. As manual says I 've made some changes in texmf.cnf: openout_any = a shell_escape = t allow_multiple_suffixes = f What should I do next to catch 'serious system error' while running metapost code included in tex code? persisent default font

Hi all! I came across the same problem twice in different operating systems, so... As I wrote about two weeks ago, I 've generated context format with command texexec --make --language=pl,en,de --bodyfont=plr en expecting to have format 'cont-en.efmt' (with english interface) which includes polish and english hyphenation patterns, with PL as default language and PLR as default font. LOG file created during format creation shows what I would expect: \unprotect \installlanguage[\s!pl][\c!status=\v!start] \installlanguage[\s!en][\c!status=\v!start] \installlanguage[\s!de][\c!status=\v!start] \setupcurrentlanguage[\s!pl] \definetypescriptsynonym[cmr][plr]\definefilesynonym[font-cmr][font-plr] \protect \endinput The thing I can't understand is that when I compile any file (like 'Hello wórld!\end') log file says: language : language en is active and Missing character: There is no ˇ in font cmr12! and so on. Encodings doesn't matter in this case. The point is why cmr12, not plr12 is used and why english language, not polish is active? Oh, by the way; how can I change default TeX machine for ConTeXt? I mean how to change it using still 'texexec' command (not 'any_tex_machine &cont-en.efmt')? And another question; how to generate *.fmt format (for TeX, not for eTeX) with 'texexec --make' command? If one use fmtutil there is fmtutil.cfg file which allows user to map formats with engines. But where can I set it for 'texexec --make'? Thanks for any hints, Pawe/l

Hi, when defining an unusual size for my footnotes \setupfootnotes[bodyfont=8.5pt, ... ] I get an amazing amount of messages bodyfont: bodyfont XXpt is defined (can be better done global) with XX being various sizes. Which makes processing real slow... What is meant by "global defining"? Where should I write a "global" definition and how does it look like? Sorry, but I really have now idea. Thank you, Steffen

I'm a little 'confused' in installation of ConTeXt now ;) Yours advices (and texmf.cnf from Hans) didn't works on my mobile machine with previous (recommended) installation. But today I tried install it on other computer and I: - get 'generic basic' type of installation (with pictex(2) and langpolish) - without any changes - works fine, but no polish characters and metapost - make plr fonts and metafun format - fine, but no metapost - uncomment \useMETAFUNformattrue, \reuseMPslotstrue, \runMPgraphicstrue, \runMPTEXgraphicstrue, \runutilityfiletrue in texmf/tex/context/base/cont-sys.ori and copy to cont-sys.tex - everything works fine ;) So, I will check it on my second computer - soon I will be expert in ConTeXt instalation ;))) PS. Thanks to everybody who helps me in my first steps in ConTeXt - tomorrow I send the link to (early beta version ;) visual creators of tables and flowcharts in ConTeXt... -- Best regards Martin

But after copying 'texexec.rme' to 'texexec,ini', changing some defaults, like set FmtLanguage to pl set FmtBodyFont to plr and updating ls-R, the problem still appear, means that format generated with proper command texexec --make --language=pl,en --bodyfont=plr en doesn't use the proper default font.... flowcharts: self-reference

I'm (mis)using ConTeXt flowcharts for drawing support maps "which device stands where". I don't know how to draw further elements (walls etc.), but that's not that important at the moment. To show the "user side" of a device I'd like to draw an arrow to it. It works with a self-connection on left, top or right, but not at the bottom of a box. \startFLOWcell \name {cRIP} \location {1,1} \text {my RIP} \connection[rr] {cRIP} % works \stopFLOWcell \startFLOWcell \name {pCtP} \shape {15} \location {1,2} \text {my CtP} % \connection[bb] {pCtP} % [bb] to self doesn't work, but [tt], [ll] or [rr] does \stopFLOWcell With [bb] I get the following MP error: This is MetaPost, Version 0.641 (Web2C 7.3.7x) (c_av-mpgraph.mp >> 0 !
