I find it a bit surprising that ConTeXt gives 'missing } inserted' with: \starttext\startformula \mathop=^{\rm def} \stopformula\stoptext (\mathop{=}^... is fine, though). The above formula is correct in Plain (Lua)TeX (in fact, it is copied from The TeX Book). Why does ConTeXt need braces? (Before you point it out: I know that I should use \stackrel…) Nicola

docbook(5) to context conversion

Hi, Are there any publicly available solutions for converting docbook/docbook5 to context? In searching the context wiki, pragma-ade site, ntg-context archives and the web, I encountered three suggestions: * dbcontext - part of dblatex, abandoned ~10 years ago * context style sheets +/- lua - generic xml solutions mentioned in help docs such as "Dealing with XML in Context MkIV" - generic xml solutions also mentioned in context wiki page "XML Lua" * xslt style sheets Any pointers to more specific or developed resources, or even examples, would be appreciated. Example of quality typesetting (sic.)

Hello, I was dismayed to read the February newsletter published by a large University: the attached extract shows a nice example of the quality of the typesetting... It is in French, but that doesn't matter, anyone can see the result independent of the language. I share it with the ConTeXt list as we see more and more examples like this, and the sad thing is that most readers think that they could care less. Are readers (and writers) really becoming so sloppy? Have we become so perverted by poor rendering by HTML engines that we now will accept anything? I do not know about others, but I find it extremely difficult to read newspapers (or much anything else) online. Alan

Dear Wolfgang, I’d like to ask one thing related with the itemize columns. In my country, the items are listed from left to right first and then go down to the next line. For example, to get the following output, 1. first 2. second 3. third 4. fourth 5. fifth 6. sixth I use the code as below. \starttext \startitemize[n, columns,three, ] \item first \item second \item third \stopitemize \startitemize[continue] \item fourth \item fifth \item sixth \stopitemize \stoptext Is there any simpler way to achieve this? late reset of counter with way=bypage

Hello list, this is an example of footnotes with two different markers (and counters): numbers for editor's footnotes, stars for author's footnotes. The footnotes are typeset together, in the order they appear in the text, so number and star markers are interspersed.
