Odd numbering of

Hi folks, I have a document that is structured like this: \startfrontmatter \placecontent \stopfrontmatter \startbodymatter \startchapter \component whatever.tex \stopchapter \stopbodymatter What I noticed is, that when I build the PDF, open it in Sumatra PDF and check the page counter at the top, then the first page (frontmatter) is numbered 1, then the second page (1st page of the bodymatter) is numbered 1.1, the second page of the bodymatter then is numbered correctly again. How would one change the frontmatter counter to roman numbers (I, II, III etc.)? And the first page of the bodymatter to 1 instead of 1.1? For the record: within the PDF itself the numbers are printed correctly (front: no numbers, body: 1, 2, 3 etc.). This seems to be reader software related. I saw romans for frontmatter and arabics for bodymatter in other documents already, so I am sure there has to be a way of achieving this in CTX. Any ideas? Greetings, Sebastian

> Which is your OS? How about checking them with Acrobat Reader? I am working under OpenBSD and context TeXLive 2017 pre-release. Acrobat Reader is not avalaible. Btw, I had the same issue as you under Linux : Evince could'nt display slides with Steps macros, while mupdf displays content without steps. The new mkiv Rawsteps nearly works for me with mupdf : both steps are displayed on the same slide, which is not what is intended, but at least contents are duplicated. If steps are only working with AcroRead, this means that steps may rather rely on a workaround and it might be considered a kind of bug. Unfortunately my programming skills are none, so I migt be exagerating. Anyway it would be really great to have something working with poppler and mupdf engines. Could the \pause macro from beamer be a starting point or is this too LaTeX dependant?

Creating SVG: using MetaFun, exporting proper units, conversion to DXF

Hi, I want to play with CNC and don't yet have any experience with CAD software (nor the licence for the expensive ones) other than perhaps some Blender, so I decided to try to use the super ugly route with metapost -> svg -> dxf -> g-code for the first time. I have a few questions. (1) I love Hans' shortcuts in metafun, but I seem to remember that things like input metafun; or perhaps input mp-tool; used to work, so that I don't have to remember to use mpost -mem=metafun my-drawings.mp when compiling the graphics. Did the method with "input" ever work (or is it supposed to work)? Now I'm getting a bunch of weird errors. I would love to specify everything in the source file and then just call mpost. If that doesn't work, that's fine, I can still add "-mem=metafun", but ... (2) I guess that using "raw metapost" is the only sane way to generate SVG. If I use metapost inside ConTeXt that's probably not going to work, right? (3) Is there any way to convince the SVG output mode to generate something like <svg ... width="100.0mm" height="100.0mm" ... > rather than <svg ... width="283.46456692913387" height="283.46456692913387" ... > because the program I use to convert SVG to DXF has troubles interpreting "points" properly. I read somewhere that they assume 90 points per inch because that's Inkskape's default. (4) Does anyone have a better proposal for conversion into DXF (or G-code)? I'm currently playing with FreeCAD and I've seen some tutorials showing that AutoCAD can open PDF directly, but I don't want to buy AudoCAD just for the sake of converting files. (Not to mention that FreeCAD's SVG importer crashes when reading output from MetaPost unless I manually remove parts of the SVG, but that's an unrelated problem that I'm somehow able to overcome.) context-2011-mathml-update.pdf FlushStep and mupdf

Hi, As suggested a few months ago in thread "which command would give the same effect as \pause in beamer ?", I am digging in context example to use the step mecanism for presentation. I grepped the example folder and founded files using \FlushStep, for example : context-2011-mathml-update.tex The trouble is that when opening context-2011-mathml-update.pdf with mupdf I do not see anything similar to beamer \pause. The whole slides are shown in one piece. I tried several other pdf with Steps mecanism (context-2011-ebook-export, context-2012-thescript, context/2013/context-2013-speed.pdf). Steps weren't displayed in any case. Did I miss something or is it a viewer issue? Thanks, Damien

Hyphens missing (again) with setupbackend[export

Aditya came across this in 2011 ([NTG-context] export kills hyphen symbol <https://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg58460.html>)[1] with the Fontin font. It wasn’t answered then. It is back if it ever left. Here is an example: \definefontfamily [TestFont] [rm] [Antykwa Torunska Cond] \setupbodyfont [TestFont] \setupbackend [export=maybe]% or yes, or no, or ... \setuppapersize [A7] \starttext \input ward \stoptext If the \setupbackend statement is removed, or an invalid key is used, all is well. It fails with a valid key and any value for that key. Get number of chapter and section

Hi, I've another question. Currently I'm experimenting with the header and can retrieve the chapter name with \getmarkin[chapter]. How can I get the current number of the chapter (\getnumber[chapter] does not work) and the section? Regards, Gerion

Bug in wiki \doifsamestringselse vs \doifsamestringelse

Hello ConTeXist I add wiki information. In wiki on page http://wiki.contextgarden.net/System_Macros/Branches_and_Decisions is bug (I think) in caption \doifsamestringselse,\doifsamestring,\doifnotsamestring. Right information is \doifsamestringelse,\doifsamestring,\doifnotsamestring (without s in first keyword). Macro \doifsamestringselse not work. Is there anybody, that fix this bug? Jaroslav Hajtmar
