The latest beta — ConTeXt ver: 2017.02.19 with LuaTeX, Version 1.0.3 — chokes on entries such as \cite[author1, author2, and author3 2017] and reports an error: e.g., lua error > lua error on line 81 in file c_Brill09-02_Evans.tex: C stack overflow stack traceback: [C]: in function 'type' ...eXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/mkiv/lpdf-ini.lua:373: in function <...eXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/mkiv/lpdf-ini.lua:367> [C]: in function 'tostring' ...eXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/mkiv/lpdf-ini.lua:342: in function <...eXt/tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/mkiv/lpdf-ini.lua:317> If I try something like \cite[A B and C] all is well. floats on pages without headers

I have some large floats that look best on empty pages, i.e., pages that do not have headers? decomposed and precomposde glyphs

When using input like the following with xetex then harfbuzz kicks in and one would always get the good looking precomposed U+1EA0 for the A and the decomposed B+U+0323 for the B. With context (and lualatex) one get a rather bad looking -- as the dot is misplaced -- output for the A^^^^0323 input and no output at all for ^^^^1e04. As the coverage for precomposed glyphs varies a lot across fonts this is rather a nuisance. controlling title head distances when grid is enabled

Dear context users: I would like to typeset my documents to gridlines. If grid is enabled, the distances between titles (section, subsection,subsubsection heads) and text are too big. Here's an example: \setuplayout[grid=yes] \showgrid \starttext \section{Section One} \input tufte \subsection{Subsection One} \input ward \subsubsection{Subsubsection One} \input tufte \section{Section Two} \subsection{Subsection Two} \input davis \subsection{Subsection Three} \input dawkins \stoptext In the output there are 3 empty lines before and 2 after Subsection One. It would be enough 2 and 1 lines, respectively. On page 2, between Section Two and Subsection Two heads 4 empty lines are inserted, which is to much (ugly). How can I control the empty space before and after heads when grid is enabled? I tried this: \setuphead[section][before=\vskip-2.8ex,after=\vskip-2.8ex] but it removes all spaces not only 1 line. I also tried \setuphead[section][before={\blank[2*line]},after={\blank[line]}] but it doesn't have any effect. Thank you in advance, bcsikos

XML export of a lua table

Hi, what is the easiest way to export a lua table (mostly key-value pairs) into a XML file? I found 'lxml.save', but no luck with a converter function. Any help welcome. Peter

Hello, Problem: -------- I am having trouble getting a simple module's documentation to load setup information. Question: --------- Where can I find up-to-date documentation on the load setup interface file use and required format? Background: ---------- I have a current standalone ConTeXt installation with only luatex(mkiv) and all modules (updated yesterday). I intend to write a number of ConTeXt modules to assist in my work. My first module is ConTests a simple wrapper around lua's lunatest framework. ( GitHub: stephengaito/ConTests ) As I work I like to write unit-tests and documentation concurrently with the code itself (as much as possible). I am basing my documentation effort on t-fancybreak.mkvi. As such I have written a setup interface file t-contests.xml. My directory structure is: t-contests/tex/context/interface/third/t-contests.xml t-contests/tex/context/third/ConTests/t-contests.mkiv t-contests/tex/context/third/ConTests/t-contests.lua I am building my module documentation using: mtxrun --script modules --process t-contexts.mkiv (inside the t-contests/tex/context/third/ConTests directory). The resluting t-contests-mkiv.pdf file has 'MISSING SETUP' where I would expect the \showsetup{loadSuite} output to be placed. The mtxrun log output has the line: xml > core > load error in [id: setups:, file: .xml]: empty xml file I interpret this to mean that my interface file was not found (or possibly not correctly specified). I have a few questions about the new bibliography system. The result should like like that of “Somebody Else”. Bibtex databases have both forms and it would be nice if the work was done by ConTeXt automatically. The manual suggests that fields like director (see the FILM example) can be induced to be treated as author/editor names by sufficiently advanced users. Would such a user please share the method? In the INBOOK example, can we get a BOOKSUBTITLE field to complement the BOOKTITLE? My real bibliography has some very long titles, and I would rather have only the main part appear with \cite[booktitle][entry], yet have the title with subtitle in the bibliography. Also in the INBOOK example, I notice that the spacing after “Vol.” is a sentence space, and it should not be. The spacing after abbreviations in the bibliography should not depend on setting frenchspacing. -- Rik

Underful with \startalignment[flushright]

Dear list, Could not find any hint on this list on this (minor) problem. When compiling the following simple MWE : \starttext \startalignment[flushright] Foo. \stopalignment \stoptext I get an underful hbox message : Underfull \hbox (badness 10000) in paragraph at lines 4--5 []\3>modern-designsize-12pt-rm-tf-0--0 Foo. Is there a simple way to avoid the underful message (other than adding a \hfil before the text) ? \starttext \startalignment[flushright] \hfil Foo. \stopalignment \stoptext Many thanks Best regards Joseph Canedo

Dear list, I have this stupid sample: \starttext \def\cA{a, b, c} \doifelse{\env{cA}}{\cA}{equal}{unequal} \stoptext I compile it with: contextjit --arguments="cA=a, b" a.tex Because of the coma, I get this error: check > missing or ungrouped '=' after 'b' in line '29 (15>environment:)' \wait = Is there a way to write the arguments option value, so that I can type "a, b"? Dear context users: I am experimenting with descriptions and I couldn't find in the documentation the following: 1. What is the default value of width option? It seems that default width uses the longest head + some distance for every head in a descriptions list. Neither width=fit nor width=broad,distance=dimension results in the same. 2. In the same document how can I reset to the default options of a defined description list? For example: \definedescription[defa] \defa{head} .... % deafult options are used \setupdescription[defa][width=broad,distance=1cm] \defa{head} .... % above options are used Now I would like to use again the default options, how can I? I tried: \setupdescription[defa][] \defa{head} .... But still the previously set options are used, they haven't been reset. Thank you in advance, bcsikos
