seeindex problem with recent betas

With older versions of ConTeXt (including that in TL18) seeindex entries pointing to a multi-level (plussed) index entry worked (visually, at least) without complaint. The output might look like: Digby, John 73 Dilbert see Adams+Scott Dirac, Paul 287 or Digby, John 73 Dilbert see Adams, Scott Dirac, Paul 287 where the second part is a literal repeat of what is in the second argument of seeindex. (It is not, however, linked to the plussed entry as it would be to a single-level entry.) However, current version (2018.07.27 19:12) generates a result like: Digby, John 73 Dilbert Dirac, Paul 287 along with the warning: structure > registers > invalid crosslink : Adams+Scott, ignored Surely it is better to display the non-linked see entry as before (together with the warning message so that the non-linking is pointed out) and have a printable document than it is to display an empty entry! -- Rik

Define the dimensions of a layout

Hello, I want the text area to be surrounded by a margin of 20 mm (top, right, left and bottom). I have already done this to have a left and right margin of 20 mm. \setuplayout [height=middle, backspace=20mm, width=middle] I think that I must now have : topdistance + header + headerdistance = 20mm footerdistance + footer + bottomdistance + bottom = 20 mm How to do ? question regarding \placefloats

Dear Reader, I have a document with figures and tables. I have tried to use the command \placefloats to create a list of all my floats as recommended on the page Floating Objects, section Flushing floats. There it states: The command \placefloats outputs all pending floats. I hoped to get a list with all tables, all figures and all other possible floats.That list would either be sorted per chapter or sorted per float. However, I was not able to make it work at all. In the appendix, you can find my struggles. First: \placefloats does not work. \placelistoffloats does not exist as a command My solution is two seperate commands, one for the tables \placelistoftables and one for the figures \completelistoffigures. Question: how to use \placefloats correctly to get a list of all floats? Second: \startcombination[1*2] looks nice, but does not add information to the \placelistoffigures . My solution is to place the \startcombination inside a \placefigure. Question: Is there a better way? Kind regards, thanks, Susanne

faulty to unicode mapping of chars encoded with surrogate pairs?

when I compile the following with context \pdfvariable compresslevel=0 \starttext $f$ \stoptext I get in the pdf 1 beginbfchar <0515> <D875DC53> endbfchar D875DC53 is according to http://www.russellcottrell.com/greek/utilities/surrogatepaircalculator.htm the codepoint 2D453 and this is not a valid unicode point. As a result copy& paste doesn't work correctly. A similar example with xelatex writes D835DC53 (remark the 3 instead of the 7) instead in the pdf which gives the correct code point 1D453 and copies fine. lualatex gives the faulty value too. -- Ulrike Fischer http://www.troubleshooting-tex.de/

xrightarrow is not straight

Hi ConTeXt mailing list, I am using the extensible arrows and I am not really satisfied with the looks of it. The most important issue I have is that the vertical spacing is too much. You can see this in the attached picture: the left arrow is using \xrightarrow{\neq a} and the right arrow is using \stackrel{\neq a}{\longrightarrow}. I think the right one (with stackrel) looks more natural. Is there a way to setup the vertical spacing? Another thing I noticed is that the line is not very consistent. This might be a font issue (I am using Euler). Luckily, the inconsistent overlap is barely visible when printed. Thanks again! Groetjes, Joshua

How to control the space between the bottom of the frame and the text?

I forget: I use now luatex beta 0.80.0 (and Context from 2015.04.15), but the old pdf was compiled with luatex 0.77.0, is that the difference, which deleted the footnote? (I hope this does not break the thread....never learned how to use mail-lists with thunderbird)

Footnotes in titles, 3 years old file compiles now different

Hello together, I have a file from 2015, which contains something like this: \section{title\footnote{ftn-content}} And the compiled pdf from then show the footnote correct and with the number in order to the other footnotes. But now I have compiled it again without differences, and the footnote disappears. I have read about this and basically it says that apart from local footnotes its not possible anymore (?) to set footnotes in titles (s.t. the numbers stay in order to all the other footnotes). What changed since 2015? That is a problem for me because I have to compile a book from then to print it again (with minor other corrections in the text, but nothing in style). How to achieve the same result like back then? Thank you! Huseyin

preventing endnotes from running off the page

When using endnotes, it seems that all the notes that are collected in the text are placed together in a frame – but I have so many notes in a chapter that the frame runs off the last page. Is there any way to let the endnotes run on naturally to the next page? Robert

using both footnotes and endnotes in a document

A puzzle for note specialists: I would like to use both endnotes as well as footnotes in one and the same document, for different kinds of notes. Ideally, I should be able to write something like: ----- Here is a footnote,\footnote{The footnotes comes here.} and now comes an note that should appear at the end of my text.\endnote{And this is the endnote.} ----- For this I would need commands for determining the kind of markers for the notes (I know what to do for footnotes: this looks like \setupfootnotes [conversion=characters]; but what does one do for endnotes?)
