I have now found time to see if I could work out how to apply \structurelistuservariable. In short, I have to admit that I could not. I am grateful to Hraban for his encouraging response, but though I could see it was related, it seems to me not quite what I seek. The more I thought about the answer, I realised I had not explained my question in a precise manner. I am retired, and produce a weekly A5 booklet from material with which my wife (a church minister), supplies to me. I call it a pulpit manuscript. It is the entire script for her service. Included are the numbers and first line of five hymns, that are different each week. Until I gain a better understanding of ConTeXt, I shall continue to use LaTeX koma-script package for the weekly booklet. In order to make life easier for myself, I have created commands of my own. One of these commands enables me to have a template which has five instances of \hymn{} {}. If I put with the first braces pair '387', and in the second pair, 'The Lord's my shepherd' --- when LaTeX koma-script outputs the PDF, 'Hymn 387' is in bold and 'The Lord's my shepherd' is italicised. For the next hymn, it would be a different number, and different first line, but it would auto-formatted the way I want. That command is constructed in the preamble in the following way: \newcommand{\hymn}[3][Hymn]{\addsec{\rlap{\textbf{#1 #2}}\hspace}{7em}{\normalfont\small\textit{#3} }}} This places a specific gap between the hymn number and the first line as well. Not only does it format the section heading (\addsec) to have bold and italics (without bold), it formats the corresponding entry in the toc in exactly the same way. How can I make a similar command for ConTeXt, please?

Issue with text running into footnotes

Hi all, I have a lecture note in which a few footnotes are given, but in some cases the text runs into the footnote, and it has been impossible for me to exhibit a minimal example where the issue appears. If I remove a few lines of text before the last paragraph on th tepage shown in the above link, the issue disappears, but of course this is not a solution. I am aware that overuse of footnotes is not recommended, but in my lecture notes I have very few of them. Is there a way to prevent such conflicts between footnotes and the last lines of text on a page? Many thanks in advance: OK

Hello, OK, thanks for reaction. One more example - \text instead of ascii mode: ---- \starttext \type{%@$} A\footnote{\type{*\$% }} B\footnote{\type{*\$\% }} \stoptext ---- gives: " *\$ *\$\% " in the footnote. IOW, I cannot simply print "%": "%" at the end yields "" whilst "\%" produces "\%". Is there a simple way to prinst simple "%"? (There is probably a more clumsy way - type \letterpercent instead of % - but this is a minimal sample; in my real sample there are many "%"s to be shown as "%".) LMTX issue with multple question blocks

Dear list members, The below MWE runs fine and generates a usable PDF. How to sort list of sections?

Hi Folks, If sections are just lists, and lists can be sorted, how can I sort a list of sections? My actual goal is to generate an 'index' that is made up of section headings. Here's my attempt that does not work. \setuphead[section][number=no ] % This was a guess at how I might be able to sort sections. I was wrong :-) \definesorting[section][sections] \setupsorting[sections][criterium=all] % I thought something like this might work too \definesorting[wahs] \definesorting[wah][wahs][\getmarking[section]][\getmarking[section]] \starttext placelist (not sorted, as you would expect): \placelist[section] \blank placelistofsorts (doesn't render anything. My guess was wrong) \placelistofsorts[wahs] Sections start here: \startsection[title={Beta}] Hello \startsection[title={Alpha}] World \stoptext Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it. Kerry

index with chapter and section numbers

Hi, In a math text book, I would like to create an index of some material where chapter and section numbers are given instead of a page number. For instance if the result « 3.2.5 Banach Fixed Point Theorem » is stated in section 2 of chapter 3, and is the fifth numbered statement in that section, I would like to create a \myindex command so that adding the command \myindex{Banach Fixed Point Theorem} at that location, I get in the index created by \myindex a line such as Banach Fixed Point Theorem 3.2.5 Is this possible? How to define the font size of the page header?

Hi Folks, Sorry for the constant interruptions, but I can't find an answer in any of the many PDFs or webpages I can find. How do I define the font size of the page header? If I'm not using a custom font, I can call \switchbodyfont prior to calling \setuplayouttext, which, if I'm honest, seems weird, but it doesn't work if I use a custom font. eg: \definefontfamily [dejavu] [serif] [DejaVu Serif] \definefontfamily [dejavu] [sans] [DejaVu Sans] % Uncomment this and the page header font size drops dramatically. % \setupbodyfont[dejavu] % This seems to define the size of the page header, if \setpbodyfont is not called. \switchtobodyfont[50pt] \setuplayouttext [header][text] [ style=small, middletext=Page Header, righttext=\pagenumber, rightstyle=bold ] \switchtobodyfont[8pt] \starttext \input ward.tex \stoptext I half expected the 'style' property to be involved in this, but I can't get that to do anything either :-( How do I define the font size in a page header defined using \setuplayouttext ? issue attaching remote files

Hi Hans, I have the following sample: \setupinteraction[state=start] \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=1em] \attachment [file={https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/% ES/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:02010L0040-20180109}, name=one.pdf, color=orange] \attachment [file={https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/% ES/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:52011DC0144R(02)}, name=two.pdf, color=magenta] \stopTEXpage \stoptext Because of the parentheses in the file address, the second file isn’t attached, due to the use of parentheses (sorry, but I cannot avoid this in their address). curl is also unable to download the second file unless an output name is specified (with --output or -o). Would it be possible that ConTeXt could handle the second address with parentheses to attach the file to a PDF document? Many thanks for your help, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk
