how to do adaptation

Hi, I am looking for ways to adapt the layout and content of texts while using ConTeXt. Put simple: show part of a text and sort these parts based on data from the user and the author (.dat file). The biggest problem is not knowing which part of the text will be first and how many parts will be shown. So far, I am trying to get a hang of \setupdocument (https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Project_structure) \startmode (https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Modes) \definecolor (https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Color) and \defineparagraphs (https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/defineparagraphs) I hope there are more ways to create adaptation. I would also like to know whether certain combination don't work together. LMTX: Linux and Windows

Dear list, I have the following sample (slightly modified version taken from java-imp-vplayer.mkiv): \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=3em] \useJSscripts[vplayer] \setupinteraction [state=start] \externalfigure [shockwave] [frame=on, width=240pt, height=135pt, file=bathtub.mp4, label=foo] \goto{START} [JS(StartShockwave{foo})] \goto{REWIND}[JS(RewindShockwave{foo})] \goto{PAUSE} [JS(PauseShockwave{foo})] \goto{STOP} [JS(StopShockwave{foo})] \stopTEXpage \stoptext In Linux, it is compiled fine with LMTX (beta version from 2019.10.11 15:47). Using beta from 2019.10.10 in Windows, LMTX doesn’t find vplayer9.swf (https://mirrors.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/media9/players/VPlayer9.swf) altough it is in the same directory as the ConTeXt source file being compiled. Hello, I am using SumatraPDF at school (Windows). Lightweight, opens where it was closed last time (very convenient when you've got presentations up to 100 slides or more that takes several weeks to be discussed). Self actualizes when the ConTeXt source is compiled. At home (OpenBSD), mupdf and zathura. Rather for ratpoisons or Vim fans (keyboard-driven). Regards, Damien Thiriet

Sectionwise page range in ConTeXt TOC

I know ConTeXt TOC is quite customizable. However, I don't figure out how to include a page range next to section labels. For instance, something like that: 1. Chapter . . . 1 - 4 1.1 Section . . . 1 - 3 1.2 Section . . . 3 - 4 2. Chapter . . . 4 - 7 I've seen a LaTeX implementation here: https://tex.stackexchange.com/a/145206 Is something similar (or maybe better) possible? Thanks in advance.

Dear Hans, I read the manual of luametafun and do some examples. Thanks for many new features. It is really great. I’d like to ask two things. 1. On page 26,27, in the manual, > > http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/luametafun.pdf <http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/luametafun.pdf> a function name of the graphics are appeared as same as in the argument ‘function = “x^2 + y^2”’. Though it calculates function using “x^2 + y^2”, it is better to write the name of it as the output of $x^2 + y^2$. Is it possible to write it as in mathematical form? 2. To define a mathematical function, it uses “function = “ in Contour, while it uses “code = “ in Surfaces and in Functions. Difference in right justification in LMTX

Dear list. Given the following MWE (could not reproduce with smaller example). \setuppapersize[A5][A5] \definefontfeature[base][mode=node, protrusion=quality, expansion=quality] \definefontfamily[mainfont][serif][EBGaramond][features=base] \setupalign[hanging, lesshyphenation, hz] \setupbodyfont[mainfont, 9pt] \showframe \starttext les bestes/ & sus toute la terre/ & sus tout reptile qui bouge sur surete sur la {\righttoleft terre. Dieu} donc crea l'homme a son image. \stoptext I notice that LMTX seems to add some small gap at right margin in the 1st typeset line. I attach the pdf I get with luatex and lmtx. The showframe directive makes it more visible. Joseph

List of Symbols/Abbreviations/Glosses with more then two entries

The synonym "sym" defined by \definesynonyms[sym][syms][\symdesc] can take 2 entries by default: \sym[<RefName>]{<ShortName>}{<LongName>} For theses and whitepapers in the natural sciences and in engineering it is needed to introduce another entry for the unit: \sym[<RefName>]{<ShortName>}{<Unit>}{<LongName>} (<-- This does of course not compile, take it as a feature request) e.g. \sym[Salpha]{\alpha\ }{$[W~m^{-2}~K^{-1}]$}{Heat Transfer Coefficient} where \sym[Salpha]{\alpha\ }{$[W~m^{-2}~K^{-1}]$ Heat Transfer Coefficient} cannot be a good workaround since \symdesc{Salpha} should not include the unit. And of course I want the unit entry to be in a separate column when calling \placelistofsynonyms[sym] In LaTeX I accomplished this with glossaries and glossary-mcols. Is there some neat trick to get this behaviour "the ConTeXt way" (maybe with some Lua + *.aux)? The next step would be to define the table headers of the list of symbols such as "Symbol \NC Unit \NC Description"... Thanks in advance and kind regards, Thomas

space between headings

Dear list, I have the following sample: \showframe\showgrid \starttext \section{Section} \subsection{Subsection} A sentence. \section{Section} Another sentence. \subsection{Subsection} Even another sentence. \stoptext Is there any way to setup the space after of \section when it is followed by another heading? (bug?) no destinations for footnote links in LMTX

Hi Hans, I have the following sample: \setupinteraction[state=start, focus=standard] \starttext a\footnote{b} \stoptext I’m afraid that LMTX doesn’t generate a link to go back from footnote. All I can see is that MkIV generates two named destinations: << /D [ 5 0 R /XYZ 61.65861 129.0214 null ] >> << /D [ 5 0 R /XYZ 76.72182 722.72927 null ] >> But I’m afraid that LMTX generates only one: << /D [ 5 0 R /XYZ 61.65861 129.0214 null ] >> Many thanks for your help, Pablo -- http://www.ousia.tk

new beta

Hi, I uploaded a new beta. Some might have noticed that stepwise some font support has been redone. We're talking of lmtx only here. For instance low level handling of color fonts as used for emoji but there are also other (often incomplete) fonts out there (overlay, png, svg) has become (on the average) a bit more efficient. It's somewhat tricky to satisfy viewers but at my end things work ok. It should also work in a cmyk only mode. As usual it's work in progress (and in this case very likely lmtx only). Also some first (runtime) metafun (2) font creation support has been added (was always possible but it's a bit more convenient now). An example can be found in: meta-imp-gamesymbols.mkxl (the file can be processed with the 'context' command and will produce an example). As usual imagination determines the limits of what context provides, so feel free to suggest more (examples). Again this is lmtx specific.
