I ran the same code on the Linux installation, and there \tfx and \tfxx worked just fine. Emacs color definitions for ConTeXt

Thanks to Hans and Giuseppe for your fast reply. For all emacs users I included a file, which contains the context color definitions of rgb.txt. Select the menu Edit->Text Properties->Display Colors and take a look. You may find it useful. Peter

Floats in Columnsets

Dear Sir Hagen, I know you are writing the complete manual for the columnsets, nonetheless I dare to bother you in advance. What are options for telling floats to what column, line and page they should go? I hade some examples from you, but I lost it when my harddisc crashed. Can you help me? reusing metapost graphics

Hi: I'm designing a year's worth of English lessons for some Japanese kids, and I'm using Metapost and ConTeXt to generate flashcards for vocabulary training. I have a few questions: (1) I want to keep my Metapost figures defined in a ConTeXt environment file so that I can recall them as I need in future lessons. Is there anything wrong with this approach? (2) How do I make a Metapost figure defined in a ConTeXt file reusable? Do I need to wrap the definition of the figure in a macro so that the figure is recreated everytime I need it? (3) With \useMPgraphic, is there any mechanism to scale the image as with \useexternalfigure? If this is all in the documentation, I apologize. (I would appreciate a pointer to the documentation though :-) )

Umlaute, texnansi

Hello there, I accidently switched from SuSE to Debian (via Knoppix) and all of a sudden ran into problems. With: ----------------------------------------------- % interface=en tex=pdfetex output=pdftex \setupwhitespace[big] \mainlanguage[de] \enableregime[utf8] % \setupencoding[default=texnansi] \starttext Und jetzt auch gleich mal die Umlaute testen, sowie vielleicht Ähnlichkeit der Öffentlichkeit die auch mal beißen kann \stoptext ----------------------------------------------- the document will be processed ... without the german Umlaute (Ä, Ö etc). And if I uncomment \setupencoding[default=texnansi] texexec stops with the message: ! Undefined control sequence. l.5 \setupencoding [default=texnansi] ? (./Context_text.tuo) (./Context_text.tuo) systems : begin file Context_text at line 6 Missing character: There is no Ä in font cmr12! Missing character: There is no Ö in font cmr12! Missing character: There is no ß in font cmr12! Footnotes at the end of sentences

Style gurus, I am sure there are some experts here. At the end of a sentence I think it is normal for a footnote to be after the full stop. When this is done the spacing to the next sentence is not very large, it certainly doesn't look very good to my eye. ... End of sentence with footnote.\footnote{This is the footnote.} The next sentence..... What is the recognized way of sourcing this. TIA -- Nigel

columnsets

Hello, I have a question regarding columnsets: ================================================== \definecolumnset[two][n=2] %\setupcolumnset[two][1][width=4cm] %\setupcolumnset[two][2][width=8cm] \starttext \startcolumnset[two] \dorecurse{10}{\input tufte \par} \stopcolumnset \stoptext ================================================== a) I keep getting a blank page after the columnset. How do I get rid of it? b) the setupcolumnset has some effect (making columns smaller) but they are both the same width. Why? Patrick

\framed and \starttabulate

Hi: I wanted to use \framed {\starttabulate ... \stoptabulate } but when I tried it, TeX complained about groupings and missing parentheses. Is there a way to make this work? I switched to \bTABLE, and that worked, but \starttabulate is more convenient sometimes. Thanks Matt
