Hello, I would like to know if it is possible in MetaPost (in particular MetaFun) to get all the possible intersection points of the paths, with some kind of simple command, with a syntax like, say: A[] := path1 intersections path2 (where the resulting list could be either a list of points or a list of time pairs, like for intersectiontimes). Another possible syntax could be path3 := path1 intersections path2 which would give a path for which times 0, 1, 2, 3, ... give the first, second, third, fourth, ... intersection point. Alignment of graphs/metafun

Hello Context, I (intend to) use metapost/metafun and m-graph to make my graphs. The graph module of metapost puts the origin at the left-bottom of the graph area, and the tick-marks and axis-labels are at negative positions (i.e. to the left or to the bottom of the zero line). This is nice, and I'd like to use this. I'd like to achieve the following effect: The graph-area is left-aligned with the text (has the width of the text-column), while the tick-marks and vertical axis label stick into the (left) margin. Furthermore (but possibly even harder) I'd like the tick-marks (at least the unrotated ones...) to be aligned with the grid I'm using. I can change the height of the graphs to match the grid nicely, but do you have any clues where to start? The problem I have is that the amount to overlap into the left margin is highly variable. The vertical alignment is possibly even trickier. Kind regards, Maarten Sneep

some bugs and C++ typing

Hi Hans! I'm typesetting an algorithms course in C++ and I came around to few bugs and personal wishes :) 1. I've "written" a verb-cpp.tex which knows C++ keywords. However, as you'll see from the attached example, it needs a few fixes: - the missing word if it ends with & (the bar& x argument) - & coloured in green alongside y (it should be grey since it's an operator) - &, +=, -=, *=, /=, %=, >>=, <<=, ->*, .* should be coloured like operators and must be considered as single tokens - I'd like the whole comment in a single color (not red start/end and black text). dark green would be ideal :) Since I know nothing about verbatim mechanism (I just took java environment and stuffed it with C++ keywords) how hard would it be to make those changes? I put '\input verb-cpp' into verb-ini.tex to make it work in my local installation. 2. As you can see from the example, I want to typeset text next to code. However, the footnotes within are not working. (context ver. 2002.10.23) 3. Multi-column paragraphs are not automatically broken across pages. If the paragraph doesn't fit on the current page, it will be moved to the next page leaving an ugly empty box at the bottom of the previous page. How can I achieve an effect similar to the attached example, but that will automatically break across pages not leaving empty boxes at the bottom? 4. Some time ago I reported \pseudoencodedDJ macros not working in itemize environment and you posted a fix to the list. Did you integrate the fix in the latest release? Thanks for your time!

references and mis-ordering

hi folks. I'm still in the process of debugging this (so details and a minimal example aren't ready yet), but I'm wondering if anyone knows of circumstances that would cause table and figure numbers to be out-of- order and swapped. For example, the numbers from my \placelistoftables run in this order: 8.1 8.2 8.3 8.4 8.5 8.6 8.7 8.5 8.9 8.10 8.11 8.12 8.10 *** **** While \placelistoffigures gives 8.1 8.2 8.3 8.5 8.8 8.6 8.7 8.8 8.9 8.13 *** **** This is disturbing and hard to debug. The person whose thesis this is didn't make it easy, with very long and minimally different identifiers. I've tried purging the directory, including making sure the .tuo file is completely rebuilt. I've tried changing reference names, and it *has* had an effect on the order, but it hasn't fixed it yet. db2context package - beta release

Dear ConTeXt users, I'm happy to be able to announce first beta release of db2context package. What is db2context? Db2context package transforms your SGML/XML DocBook documents to DVI, PostScript or PDF by translating them in ConTeXt as a first process using XSLT processor. Unlike DocBookInConteXt package which transform DocBook source document on-the-fly, db2context packages uses XSLT as a transformation language to convert DocBook source document into ConTeXt document which can be further customized using all the available ConTeXt commands. You can download the first beta release from the Sourceforge. (http://sourceforge.net/projects/dblatex) The author of the package is Nicolas Marsgui (marsgui(a)users.sourceforge.net) but since he is not subscribed to the ConTeXt mailing list you can also post your feedback and/or wishes to my email address. table page breaking

Is there support for automati<c page breaking for long tables in current ConTeXt (ver: 2003.3.4)? Simon and I noticed that long tables don't break automatically to the next page but nstead are simply cut at the end of the 'first' page. Displayed material, again

Hello list, I wish to bring the discussion again on displayed material. Display material is material that conceptually belongs to a paragraphs but typographically breaks it. After the display, the paragraph can continue or not. In ConTeXt, there are many things which should be considered displayed material: formulas, enumerations and other itemgroups, quotations, etc. Every start/stop pair that begins a new paragraph should actually be a displayed area. In ConTeXt, one can achieve such result by using [intentnext=yes] or [indentnext=no] on a case-by-case basis, depending on whether the start/stop pair is supposed to start a new paragraph or not. Of course, this "manual" way to do the thing goes against the general principle that the computer is supposed to do as much of the job as possible, by itself. This paragraph has no quotations. Instead, the next paragraph will start with a quotation (display material at the beginning of the paragraph) and have some text after~it. \startdisplay \input knuth \stopdisplay is again a quote from Knuth. Different margins

Hi all, is it possible to give a different layout (different margins) for a small part of a page or pages (like a negative narrower)? I should set texts in narrow columns and pictures in wide columns on the same page. Greetings, Bence Nagy
