hyperbolic funtions in MP

I have problems using the hyperbolic functions sinh and cosh (MetaFun manual page 204) in metapost. A simple call of sinh (with valid parameter) ct:= sinh(3) ; gives ---------------------------------------- This is pdfeTeX, Version 3.141592-1.10b-2.1 (MiKTeX 2.3) ConTeXt ver: 2003.4.29 fmt: 2003.5.8 int: english mes: english ... >> xx-2 ! more on texfont (ttf successes?)

Folks, I've been doing some testing on texfont, and it seems to *almost* support truetype (.ttf) fonts perfectly fine. Has anyone used it to install ttf files, and had it work perfectly? I think all that needs changing is where the mapfile gets written... the type1 extension ".pfb" is currently hard-coded. I'll experiment with a solution (that hopefully works better with .otf files too). Hans, has texfont.pl received any recent private changes that my OpenType patch has to be synched to? framed verbatim text

Hi, I'm trying to make a frame around the verbatim text. The approach that first came to my mind: \framed{% \starttyping quite a lot of multiline verbatim stuff \stoptyping} doesn't work. Any ideas how to achieve that (and still have possibility of applying background to that frame)? regards, Jedrzej

problem with \usemodule[chart]

Hello, I'd like to draw up a simple chart (\usemodule[chart]), but I get only the "text" (not really a document) and no "shape" on the PDF. I use a current version of Miktex total (Win) and the newest ConTeXt. What can I do? Dear ConTeXticians, I had heard of http://www.apostrophiclab.com/, but yesterday I'd visited it and I'd downloaded about 60Mb of truetype fonts (in zip files). As far as I can remember almost all the fonts were also offered in type1 format. I can only recommend the visit. I hope you enjoy it (sorry if you already know it), Pablo

Hallo Eckhart, vielen Dank für Deine Antwort. Ich habe mir daraufhin einige Installationshinweise (u.a. von fiee http://www.ramm.ch/fiee/texnique/) angesehen und insbesondere die sogenannten "Aufrufe" von MetaPost angesehen und diese in die entsprechenden Konfigurationsdateien auf enable gestellt bzw. hinzugefügt. Leider gehen die meisten Text nicht von Miktex (Win) aus (was ich ja gut verstehen kann), was aber dazu führt, dass bestimmte, genannte, Dateien so unter Miktex gar existieren. Das erleichtert mir als Sozialwissenschaftler, der noch nicht mal versteht, wie ein Kühlschrank funktioniert, aber dennoch schon jahrelang recht ordentliche Text mit latex bzw. pdflatex produziert, die Sache nicht gerade. Ergo: Trotz \write18 (miktex.ini) auf enable und weiteren Modifikationen leider kein Metapost. Ich erhalte folgende Hinweise beim Aufruf: texexec --pdf flowtest initexmf: don't know how to dump metafun cannot make metafun.mem I can't find the default mem file! Hast Du vielleicht noch eine Idee, der ich nachgehen könnte? Hallo! In order to learn understand fontinstallation, typescripts and so, I tried to install a Font (Metafont-source). The namingshema of the source-files is 'bunt0900.mf, bunt1000.mf, bunt1095.mf ... What has to be written in the above [name] typescript to build these names? 7. columns and pictures

(Warning: I'm a ConTeXt newbie. I started using ConTeXt specifically because this is quite difficult to do in LaTeX, along with some other DTP-ish things.) units and decimal separators

Hi ConTeXters, How can I get ConteXt to typeset numbers as it should be done in french in which we use a comma and not a point to separate units and decimals ? That is when I write \mathematics{5,3} I want to have 5,3 and not 5, 3 (with a small space between the comma and the 3), as it is when I use the english separator, a point. Cheers, Seb.

Balancing error

Hi all, I got the following error in \startcolumns...\stopcolumns environment: columns : balancing aborted after 100 steps I tried to insert pictures just with \externalfigure in columns (I made tests with \placefigure, but it made some misplaced graphics, the \startcolumnset...\stopcolumnset environment too). By this error I got a picture hanging out from the page. The command \column[preference] before all pictures helped not. How can I avoid this error message and force an automatical pagebreak in column mode? I'm using the latest beta. Greetings Bence
