\chapter{$D$} and D being not italic

Hello, is this my strange setup or is this a general problem? If I TeX this \subsection{Derivation of $n_\sigma$ and $D_\sigma$} \bye both n and D are \rm instead of italic. I know that it worked once. Tobias

new tex toy

Hi, One of the problems with the texmf tree is to get the right scripts/documents launched. On linux, runperl/runruby are used for that, on windows there was runperl.exe which is now irun.exe. Those scripts/apps work ok under most circumstances but not all (especially not when one has multiple trees and multiple instances of the tools). So ... a few weeks ago I made a small tool: http://www.pragma-ade.com/context/texmfstart.rb : for those who have ruby in their path http://www.pragma-ade.com/context/texmfstart.exe : for those who don't have ruby installed and are on windows http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/mtexmfstart.pdf : for those who are interested This tool permits things like (on windows): "texmfstart --browser examplap.pdf" but also calls like: "texmfstart texexec.pl optional arguments" and alike. Several search strategies are applied (see manual). The few of you who have seen the integrated context environment (around scite) already may have used this tool indirectly. I didn't yet test this new gimmick on linux but will do that asap. The next thing that will be posted is 'texsync' which will synchronize your local minimal tex and/or context tree (or part of it, or (part) of the documentation) with the current distribution. (i'm playing with that right now). Synchronization (.tex <-> .pdf)

Hi, I don't now how many ConTeXt user are aware of the idea of synchronization. In the LaTeX area of TeX it has a kind of tradition (Textures, srcltx, ...) for dvi output. For PDF output Jérôme Laurens has now written a package (for use with iTeXMac and TeXShop) that makes the advantages from source-output synchronization also available for the todays standard PDF. But as so many things in the TeX world it is written as a "plug-in" for LaTeX. Does anybody has an idea how to use this great achievement also with ConTeXt? For those who would like to have a look at Jérôme's great work, I insert his code at the end of this email. \hyphenatedurl problem

Hi, I'm sure I miss something obvious but I have no clue what it is. I have: \def\gotoDOI#1{\hyphenatedurl#1} \gotoDOI{10.1016/S0009-2614(01)01361-6} \hyphenatedurl{10.1016/S0009-2614(01)01361-6} and I redefined supp-lan.tex's \scanurl to hyphenate at '(' and ')'. The strange thing is: Using gotoDOI the linebreak comes after the last '-' ('...01361-' // '6') while using hyphenatedurl it's '...(01)' // '01361-6' (the latter is desired). See attached test case. The real definition of gotoDOI will be: \def\gotoDOI#1{\useURL[doi][#1]\useURL[doiurl][http://dx.doi.org/#1]% \goto{\url[doi]}[url(doiurl)]} MERRY CHRISTMAS (or happy holidays) AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! texexec changes drives

All, I have Miktex and context installed on my F: drive (partition). My path: C:\Temp>path PATH=F:\MIKTEX\CONTEXT\PERLTK;F:\MIKTEX\MIKTEX\BIN;C:\GS\GS7.04\BIN;C:\GS\GS 7.04 \LIB;C:\PERL\BIN;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\YANDY\YANDYTEX\ ;E:\ MATLAB6P1\BIN\WIN32;C:\EMACS\BIN;;C:\GHOSTGUM\GSVIEW\;;F:\MSYS\1.0\MINGW\BIN ;F:\ IMAGINE\BIN;;E:\J2SDK1.4.0_02\BIN;E:\MATLAB6P5\BIN\WIN32 Look what happens every time I run texexec. C:\temp>texexec --version TeXExec 4.0 - ConTeXt / PRAGMA ADE 1997-2003 total run time : 1 seconds F:\Temp> The drive changes! I am using Miktex, have deleted texexec from /Miktex/bin, and have pointed my path at /Miktex/context/perltk as you can see above. Has anyone else experienced this strange behavior of changing drives?

vertical spacing in tabulate

bookmarks, accented caracters, breaking URLs

Hello, (first: Thanks, Hans for the answer, I added some space in \unknownreference and a $\blacktriangleright$, but otherwise I won't miss any reference anymore; fingers crossed.) (a) I fail somehow to produce bookmarks (or 'outlines') for the Acrobat Reader. I tried \placebookmarks[chapter,section,subsection] \starttext \chapter{foo} \stoptext but the outline is completely empty. This is with pdfeTeX (Web2C 7.4.5) 3.14159-1.10b-2.1, ConTeXt ver:2003.11.27 and acroread 5.0.5 for Linux. I don't insist on bookmarks, but I think they are nice if you get them for free. (b) Accented characters in bookmarks (I think) or the 'general info' dialog An {\"a} is shown as 'dobuildtextaccent char 127 a'. Having a 'ä' would be nice since then the indexer would find this. Since it is only 'Universität' (a proper name) this is not an important search term, though. (c) With some URLs in my literature reference list, I run into the problem that they are not (properly) hyphenized. I use \def\gotoURL#1{\useURL[foo][#1]\goto{\url[foo]}[url(foo)]} for this purpose. I would like to see a linebreak at '/' and in long words (with out printing a '-').
