differences of table modes

Ahoi! I just reviewed my german ConTeXt tutorial and tried to tell the truth about all the table modes. Please correct me if I'm wrong: * tabulate - can break over several pages - [start|stop]tabulate[head|tail] should define a repeated head/tail, but it doesn't work - documented in the manual (cont-en[i|p]) * table - cannot break - based on Wichura's TaBlE (others not) - can be used as float (others not?) - documentation commercial at pctex.com (39 $), partly docs in "ConTeXt - an excursion" (m[s|p]-cb-en) * tables - same as table, but can break over several pages - [start|stop]table[head|tail] works - nowhere documented? * TABLE - didn't try page breaks yet; should it work? - [b|e]TABLE works; should [start|stop]TABLE also? - docs: up-to-date 8 (no link on HP!), enattab * new table mode? Windows xp user wants to begin with context

Hi I'm a complete ms word user who wants to convert to context to make his mathematical textbooks. I have windows xp on my computer, but nothing (really nothing like perl, editor's or distribution) else. What exactly have i to do make my pc work with context? By the way, don't say to me to read the how to install context manual which are not meant to read by absolute beginners. I've spent hours on looking around on internet, on the pragma-website, reading manuals, but i don't find something clear and simple what tells me exactly to do and in which order to let me begin working with context. There seems to be so many pre-knowledge about perl, command line commands, and so on.. But can anybody out there please tell me how i can start from the very beginning. I would appreciate your advise very much. To set it clear: i'm not a linux or unix-user, i use windowx xp. I really want to begin with context, but there seems to be so many obstacles to overwin. texexec --pdfselection with selection range

Hello, how I can use TeXExec --pdfselection with a selection range? If I try --selection=3-50,52-90 I get an error. It works if I write --selection=3,4,5,6,7,... but this is quite labourous and one needs to make sure that one has not forgot a single number. (I try to cut out the colour pages to save some paper (60 sheets) while printing to the b/w printer.) Tobias

JPEG file couldn't be read

Hi all, this is most probably a pdfetex question, but I don't feel like subscribing to a new list to have it answered. I get the error message: Error: pdfetex (file ./rimg0016.jpg): reading JPEG image failed on a \useexternalfigure definition and \externalfigure call. Typing "file rimg0016.jpg" gets me "rimg0016.jpg: JPEG image data, EXIF standard 0.77, 42 x 0" and the file is shown as expected by "display rimg0016.jpg". This all happens under a TeXLive 7 distribution on a Debian Woody Linux box. Any ideas how I have to convert the files to please pdfetex? spaces in bibliographic list

Bonjour à tous, I have not enought spaces between bibliographic elements (but too much spaces between two lines inside every bibliographic element) Is there any way for ajusting these spaces? Pagebreak in columns

Good evening. I typeset a document in two columns on a grid. Sometimes a page is one row longer than it should be. How can I make it not to do it? (I don't care for widows and things like that, I can correct them manually). I know this was disscussed before but I can find the text of the thread in any archive, just the link. Any hint?
