In the last days, I played around with some truetype fonts, preparing them for use with ConTeXt by creating tfms via the texnansi encoding. Some of these truetypes have expert features embedded into their glyphs. texnansi automatically takes care of integrating the "ff," "ffi" and "ffl" ligatures. In order to extract small caps and old-style numerals, I created a modified texnansi encoding. controlling blank pages at end of part

How does one control headers and footers at the end of a part, such as a chapter? There are two scenarios I am trying to figure out, one in which the the blank pages at the end of a part have headers, and one in which they don't. I can't figure out how to do either. Instead, I am getting a mixture of headers and non headers. First page in first part. \page Second page in first part. \page Third page in first part. \page[quadruple] \setuphead[part][header=high, page=right] \part{} This gives me two empty (no headers) pages, followed by a page with a header, followed by the first page in the next part. If I replace \page[quadruple] with \page[blank], my last page in the previous part loses its border. I can do: Third page in first part. \page \page[blank] But then the first page in the next part loses its headers. I suppose there is a way to turn the headings off for a page or two? \page \setupheader[state=stop] \part{} \setupheader[statue=normal] % this code also does not work! Additional steps taken since the first e-mail

Listmembers, I have also done the following since the first e-mail: - Copied the contents of "texexec.rme" to "texexec.ini" - Uncommented the "set TeXShell to miktex" line in the new "texexec.ini" file. - Added the string "C:\texmf\miktex\context\perltk" to the PATH (however, there is no "context" or "perltk" folder in the "miktex" folder. setting up even and odd pages

I'm confused on setting up even and odd pages. If I wanted to set up a chapter with the first page one way, and even and odd pages another way, how do I do this? Say the first page must start on an odd page. The right margin will be 1 inch. Now the each succeeding left (or even-numbered) page will have a left margin of 1 inch. The right margin (the inner part if it were in a book) should be 1/2 inch. For the right (odd-numbered page), the left margin (the inner part if it were a book) should be 1/2 inch, while the right, outer margin should be 1 inch. TeX run : 8 (vs. 2 ?)

Hi, a ConTeXt document that is typeset under WinXP needs 2 runs. The same document (and the same typescript, map files, font files) when typeset under OSX (Gerbens i-installer used) needs 8 runs!!! Each time it is typeset! For the result looks the same I assume it's a kind of bug. Anybody knows what to do? Thank you, Steffen

shortcut to TOC page from any page

ConTeXt and DocBook - beginner's questions

Hello everyone, I am new to ConTeXt (I've been tempted to try it out because of a message by Sebastian Rahtz, posted on TEI-L). I admit that so far I have been able to get through only the main manual, but I am very curious about some things and therefore I would really appreciate it if you could answer my questions: 1. I am interested in authoring in XML and than typesetting in ConTeXt. Are there any preferences towards using some particular markup language for typesetting in ConTeXt? Is e.g. using DocBook more preferable that using TEI--from the point of view of typesetting in ConTeXt, of course. 2. Are there any generic tools available (stylesheets etc.) for typesetting DocBook/TEI or does one have to come up with his own stylesheets? I assume that the latter is necessary if one wants to get exactly the layout he wants, but maybe there are some basic stylesheets that one can use as a base for his own ones? 3. Also, I have a more general question -- for some (short) period of time I have been reading both TEI-L and NTG-CONTEXT, all the issues related to typesetting documents marked up in XML are very confusing. Do you know any good manual/tutorial concerned with these issues that I could use a starting point for my studies on the subject? Thank you in advance- -Radek Moszczynski
