Hello, does somebody already have some experience with the installation of the newest ConTeXt version (2005.06.03) on teTeX-3.0 ? With a minimal test-file (\starttext hello \stoptext) I have still two little problems: "texexec test" runs ok, but "dvips test" gives the following messages: This is dvips(k) 5.95a Copyright 2005 Radical Eye Software (www.radicaleye.com) ' TeX output 2005.06.03:2232' -> test.ps dvips: expected number in \printpaperwidth ,\printpaperheight, returning 10 dvips: expected units in \printpaperwidth ,\printpaperheight, assuming inches. dvips: expected number in \printpaperwidth ,\printpaperheight, returning 10 dvips: expected units in \printpaperwidth ,\printpaperheight, assuming inches. kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode ljfzzz --bdpi 1200 --mag 1+0/1200 --dpi 1200 ec-lmr12 mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for ec-lmr12. kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log. dvips: Font ec-lmr12 not found, characters will be left blank. <tex.pro>. [1] The problem with the \printpaperwidth etc is not so serious, since I can overwrite the \dosetuppaper macro: \definespecial\dosetuppaper#1#2#3{% \special{papersize=\the\printpaperwidth,\the\printpaperheight}} But for the ec-lmr12 problem, I would appreciate some help. I've already tried some commands like "updmap-sys --enable Map ec-public-lm.map" but without success. This is what I've done for the installation (as root): unzipping the cont-xxx.zip files in /opt/teTeX/texmf-dist then "mktexlsr" then "texexec --make --all" and at the end another "mktexlsr" TIA for any help! Hi, I noted a strange effect with the pdf bookmarks. With this source: \setupinteraction[state=start] \setupinteractionscreen[option=bookmark] \definelist[level1] \setuplist[level1] %%[coupling=off] \placebookmarks[level1] \starttext Hi. \bookmark[level1]{A bookmark at level1} Hello on first page. \page Hello on second page. \stoptext I get a pdf output which has a duplicated bookmark and both bookmark refer to page two instead of page 1. Latest version + itemize

The latest version (2005.06.03) seems to break some features of the itemize-environment. I can't get any of the converions 1-8 to work. Here's a minimal example: \starttext \startitemize[2] \item one \item two \stopitemize \stoptext For [1] and [2], I get empty boxes instead of a bullet and an em- dash, for other values, I get errors: ! Necessary and optional comands for combinedcontent.

There exist levels of commands: \definecombinedlist \setupcombinedlist They seem to have similar options. Are both required? If I define the list fully in \definecombinedlist what purpose does \setupcombined list serve in the ordinary case of a Table of Contents? A related question: can I place all the necessary parameters in the \completecontent command and do without the other two completely? -- John Culleton

Chinese processing problem

Hi, all, I just met some problems when processing Chinese in ConTeXt. I noticed that I cannot use \setupbodyfont[gbkai,16pt] (line 3)or \switchtobodyfont[gbkai,44pt] (line 10) to change font from SimSongTi(which is default) to SimKaiTi, but these two comands do have effect on the size of the font. But I can change the font using \SimKaiTi . 2. It seems that the command \hfill doesn't work at all. Can someone tell me where is the problem ? Any help will be appreicated! Thank you. Xiao Jianfeng

Hello, I just updated my teTeX to 3.0 (using RPMs) and to \def\contextversion{2005.06.07} Running texec --version calls mktextfm ec-lmr12 which fails. (I don't have ec-lmr12, should I have it? texutil and registers

Hi, in the process of rewriting texexec into ruby i also rewrite texutil; some of the functionality in texutil is already moved (probably went unnoticed) to ctxtools; the graphics analyzer actually is also seperated in another tool, but yet undocumented (related to rlx libraries); this leaves handling the tui file; i will probably merge that part of the code into texexec which will speed up processing; from that moment texutil will be just a wrapper around calls to other tools (fallback). one of the more complex parts of texutil's tui handling is register sorting; i more or less got this done, and (at least i think) i can also handle the special tricks needed for czech; there will be a new interface to define sort rules; one of the tricky parts is handling encodings, but i may patch the context code for that; also, the sort-class based remap features will be available from within context so that one can tweak handling in determining the needed functionality, i'd like to know what things can end up in user's registers; if possible, i'd like to have (small) test files with sane cases (+ sort rules if needed) so that we can make a test bed Hans ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

texsync'd linux ConTeXt png error

I'm using the latest texsync'd version of ConTeXt on 32bit and 64bit linux. Looks like either ConTeXt or pdfetex can't handle PNG's with an alpha channel. PNG image data, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced <-- works fine PNG image data, 8-bit/color RGBA, non-interlaced <-- corrupt pdf PNG image data, 8-bit gray+alpha, non-interlaced <-- following error: --- libpng warning: Ignoring bad adaptive filter type libpng warning: Ignoring bad adaptive filter type libpng warning: Ignoring bad adaptive filter type --- repeated ad nauseum (To benefit anyone coming across this message in the archives:) As a work around, assuming you don't need the alpha, the image can be converted to RGB in The Gimp using Layers > Flatten Image. Horizontal shifting gives overfull hboxes

OK, not the first time I bring this up, and it’s not a serious issue, but it’s very irritating having overfull hboxes that are in all ways correct: \version[temporary] \definedescription [test] [location=left] \starttext \starttest{1 is 1} Solution: \placeformula[-] $$1 = 1$$ \stoptest \stoptext will give a very ugly black box to the left of the formula. Space in the module t-rsteps

My questions: #1. I don't completely understand the mechanism behind rsteps, but is there a way to supress the additional space introduced between successive steps? #2. How can I use \vfill (to write something on the bottom of the page)? #3. If I write The beginning \FromStep[2]{of a \dorecurse{20}{very }long sentence} than the spacing in the first part is affected by the TeX line-breaking algorithm (in slide 1 normal spacing is used and in slice 2 it is moved slightly to the left or to the right) The same goes for vertical alignment once the slide is full #4. How could I use \FromStep[x][reserve] outside the math environment? This could have solved the problem with the alignment under #3. Thank you, Mojca
