Bad Split TABLEs

Hello, LONG tables form a significant part of my thesis. I put the thesis together entirely in XML and have a "stylesheet" matching that XML into ConTeXt. While ConTeXt is doing a great job with the rest, split TABLEs are not working - despite Hans' repeatedly answering my pleas with patches. I concluded that I might have a problem of my XML-to-ConTeXt matching rather than ConTeXt itself at hand and pulled a part of my thesis flanking and including the most unwieldy multipage table into ConTeXt proper (see attachment). The problems persist and I'd like to poll the accumulated ConTeXtitians on hints towards a solution of them, specifically: - split tables without body content - textbody text and tables "overflowing" the pages. - multiple splits per page I'd be very happy about any hints on how to remedy this document-spoiler ... horizontal space

Hello, I'm a newbe to ConTeXt but have allready done some documents in LaTeX. Want to switch to ConTeXt. There's something that I neither find in the manuals nor at contextgarden. Maybe you could help?! To realize my micro-typographic needs I'm using LaTeX-commands for defined, possibly non-breakable, horizontal spaces. Those are \, \enspace \quad and \hspace{0.25em} or \hspace*{0.125em}. Now when testing with contextlive @ contextgarden the commands \, \enspace \quad seem to work. Are they plainTeX? But what about \hspace ? It would be cool to have something like \hspace*{0.125em} in ConTeXt. Is there something like it or a way to make it work or to define it on my own? backgroundcolor broken in 2006-06-07

In the latest context version of 2006-06-7 coloring the background seems broken. Reverting to the version 2006-05-28 remedied this, but I have no intention of course, to freeze my system at that point. Here is a minimal example that colors the background in 2006-05-28 and does not in 2006-06-07: \setupcolors[state=start] \definetextbackground[showbkg][frame=off,location=text, background=color,backgroundcolor=orange,backgroundoffset=0pt] \starttext tekst \startshowbkg background \stopshowbkg{} tekst. \stoptext Can someone look into this? how to let context suppose chinese via utf-8 ?

Hi, evergyone I found a instruction in context wiki (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Chinese) in this page , it says: If you have Context 2005.12.19, you only have to get the fonts. 1.You need some Chinese (TrueType) fonts; you may want to get FangSong, HeiTi, KaiTi and SongTi. Put those e.g. into $TEXMF/fonts/truetype/chinese/. -----------finished 2.Use Hans Hagen's experimental ttf2uni.rb script to create .map, .tfm and .enc files. You can then put the files e.g. to $TEXMF/fonts/tfm/chinese/ (*.tmf files), $TEXMF/fonts/enc/chinese/ (*.enc files, they are basically the same for all fonts) and to $TEXMF/fonts/map/chinese/. -----------wondering!!!! I have downloaded the file ttf2uni.rb to my local machine. But how can I creat such .map ,.tfm and .enc files via it? 3.You may now need to update the hash TeX uses to find the files; using teTeX this is done by running texhash. 4.How you can run your Hello World program: could anyone be kindly to offer me a list of detail instructions about how to do? thank you!

Hi Mojca, It is more than two months old; the tetex i'm using is version 2.0.2 or somesuch. So an upgrade is definitely due. On the dvi v pdf question, I'm a bit confused, because I didn't mention my actual output format. I have actually been outputting things as dvi for reading on my computer, but printing pdfs. The same problems have been occurring in both formats, but I might be missing the point of your question here. Using \char60 and \char62 gives the same results as using the characters "<" and ">" in the text, which is are upside down question mark and explanation mark (which I can't easily type into this email to demonstrate). I will have a try at updating the fonts, and failing that, the whole tetex system. Question regarding context's module defintion

Are users supposed to use %D kind of remarks to comment their own environment files? I am finding it a bit strange to work with. Does one have to leave a blank line after a %D line for that line to appear? Consider the test file %D \module %D [file=test.tex, %D version=0.0, %D title=Test File, %D subtitle=Blah blah, %D author=Aditya Mahajan, %D date=\currentdate] %D Explaination for the next macro does not work \def\test{test} %D \macros{test} %D Neither does this. \def\test{test} %D Leaving a blank space also works \def\test{test} ----------------------- and look at the output of texmfstart texexec --modules test.tex. Angle braces?

Hi, Annoyingly simple question -- apologies -- but I'm having no luck from the web. The ConTeXt wiki isn't turning up anything, and the pragma site seems to be broken, so I can't access the ConTeXt manual. So: What are the commands in ConTeXt to get angled braces, i.e. `<' and '>'? I've got is \langle and \rangle respectively, but these aren't resulting in output -- the dvi has nothing where they should be - "foo bar foo" instead of "foo <bar> foo". Using the braces themselves, eg \starttext foo <bar> foo \stoptext gives me upside-down exclamation and question marks, for left and right braces respectively. Thanks for any help. -Steven

A question about the build-in module s-pre-06(The Polish style)

Hi,evergyone when I compile my .tex file in which the polish style module was been used, It doesn't work. the pop-up window tells me that " maketfm: no creation rule for the font "sy-anttrz". " i have known that the module pre-polish use a special font "the Antikwa Torunska". this prolem may be to some extent related to this font so my questions are: 1. how can i install and use the font? 2. how to fix the problem? any suggestion from you is highly appreciated! ec encoding and tcaron

Dear friends, I apologize that I ask the same question that had been asked a year ago but I can't find in the archive the definite solution. I want to use new fonts in the ConTeXt to typeset the Czech documents. TeXFont seems to be the best way to prepare metrics. EC encoding seems to be the standard ConTeXt encoding. But it doesn't include tcaron (well, this is true at least for EC.enc on my teTeX 3.0 under the SuSE Linux 10.0 with the latest ConTeXt from May 28). (In the Czech the lower case of Tcaron looks like tqouteright but nowadays most AFM files call it tcaron). Other glyphs may miss as well (I might not notice since I suspect that ConTeXt replaces missing letter with composites, e.g. Ecaron with \v{E}). So, what is the standard way I should use? I can use ec-lm.enc but is it the right way? (Moreover, it seems there is no information for ligatures.) I could try to use il2, but is the right way? And I had some problems with xl2.enc used formerly for il2-encoded fonts. So, what was decided to be the right encoding for the ConTeXt? (Is the answer the same for the Czech typesetters?) And one more question: Does anybody have the enc file that would make the TeXFont to generate metrics for il2-encoded fonts for the use with csplain (the Czech version of plainTeX)?
