Note: this is not about ConTeXt (I have used ConTeXt but not actively these days) but I'm sending in this question as per suggestion to me by Hans Hagen. Sarah, the daughter of a friend, is studying at Carnegie Mellon University where she's designing games with a group called the Game Creation Society. One of the games produced popped up on a Czech download site with a Czech text and Sarah and her group would like to know what the text means... Any Czech here who'd care to translate or give a general impression in English of what the text says? Hans Hagen said there might me. Another \setuparranging

Good evening. Is there any SIMPLE way to add one more arranging scheme to \setuparranging command? I regularly typeset some document on a piece of paper that is 1/3 of A4, and want to print it in such a way that three of them are positioned side to side on one A4 paper. I've been doing it with pstops utility. Isn't there a simple way how make \setuparranging command to do it? And one more related question: Usually the document has just one page, so in the print version there are three same pages side to side to each other. Any hint how to do it? Many thanks for your help. error: the file 'texexec' is not found

Hi, I just updated my TeX (and ConTeXt) tree, based on the linuxtex.zip file at http://www.pragma-ade.com/download-1.htm, at /usr/local/share/tex from about the August version and after a few minor tweaks I've got it working. No other TeX stuff is installed on my Gentoo system. One big problem: all of a sudden, I need to run "source /usr/local/share/tex/setuptex" or else a command like "texmfstart texexec --color 'story.tex'" exits with an error message "the file 'texexec' is not found". This breaks the Kile program that I use to write and compile TeX files. Is there any way to get this or something similar that's not in a bash environment to just work? As usual, there is an html page with more detailed release notes available on the Wiki, see: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Release_Notes Two important caveats apply to this release: * ConTeXt has switched to Latin Modern for the base math fonts as well. If this gives you problems with missing metrics, then your latin modern font package needs to be updated. In case your TeX installation does not have an easy update solution, the LM package is on CTAN: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/lm/ * ConTeXt has switched to pdftex 1.40. Unfortunately, due to changes in pdftex, it is not possible to support both 1.40 and 1.30 reliably at the same time, so if you normally use pdftex, you have to upgrade pdftex as well as context. In case your TeX installation does not have an easy update solution, the pdftex 1.40.1 distribution is available in source from here: http://sarovar.org/projects/pdftex Alternatively, you could temporarily use XeTeX instead of pdftex. If you cannot solve or work around the two above issues, you should not update to the new ConTeXt. footnotes and footnote markers on SPREAD

Hi, there seems to be a rule that footnotes and footnote markers have to be kept on the same page -- even if there stays a lot of white space at the bottom. Is there also a kind of penalties to modify the rule like this: Keeping on the same page would be best, but on the same SPREAD is fine enough?! Steffen

Keeping section heading with following text?

The other minor problem I had is that in one place i got a subsection heading at the bottom of one page and the text that follows it on the top of the next page. Is there some setting I can make which stops this happening?

grid versus whitespace

Hi, please have a look at following example: \starttext \setupwhitespace[5pt] \setuplayout[grid=no] \showstruts \showgrid \showgridboxes \setuphead[section][grid=fit] \section{Heading One} \input tufte \input knuth \stoptext For the section is too high, I set grid=yes which gives the desired section distance. But now the whitespace 5pt between the regular paragraphs gets lost! Is there a way to have both: section grid snapping *and* regular whitespace? Steffen
