Latest LMTX. I noticed the following \flushlayer behaviour and wondered if it was a bug or something I've misunderstood? \showframe \setuppapersize [A5][A5] \setuplayout[marking=on, location=middle] \definelayer[coverlayer] [width=\paperwidth, height=\paperheight] \setupbackgrounds [paper] [background=coverlayer,state=start ] \starttext \setlayerframed [coverlayer] [width=60mm,height=60mm,hoffset=0mm,voffset=0mm] [frame=on] {Some framed text top left of paper}% Hello world. %\flushlayer[coverlayer] \stoptext The above works as expected: the framed text is at the top left of the paper. But if I change the last three lines to: %Hello world. \flushlayer[coverlayer] \stoptext (i.e. swap around the 'commenting out') then the framed text moves to the top left of the text area not the paper. manual hyphenation LMTX

I may have seen a response to this at some stage in the list, but I cannot find it. \- works for manual hyphenation in Mkiv but not (for me at least) in LMTX. My general setting is \setupalign [hz, nothyphenated,stretched,verytolerant] because I am typesetting a book for visually-impaired readers using Atkinson Hyperlegible, especially developed by the Braille Foundation. In general, hyphenation is not recommended for the visually-impaired, but just occasionally it becomes necessary. Is there a reason for LMTX is not accepting \- or is there another way to achieve it in LMTX? Julian

Getting Textadept to open pdf?

The occasional response to a similar question can be found, e.g. on stackexchange, but none of the responses work for me. Textadept is very fast at compiling (and does compile correctly). I can certainly open the pdf independently in various pdf viewers, but I cannot get Textadept to automatically open, say, Okular (installed on Linux Mint), at the end of the process. The last part of the log reads: mkiv lua stats > runtime: 0.640 seconds, 8 processed pages, 8 shipped pages, 12.492 pages/second mtx-context | pdfview methods: auto default okular pdfxcview sumatra, current method: okular (directives_pdfview_method) pdfview | command: okular --unique "test1.pdf" 1>/dev/null 2>/dev/null & mtx-context | pdfview overhead: 0.001 seconds system | total runtime: 0.649 seconds of 0.701 seconds > exit status: 0 Have tried setting up a custom text editor on okular with: /home/me/.textadept "%f" -e textadept.editing.goto_line(%l-1), as suggested by one response, but to no avail. Current version of ConTeXt is 2021.09.17 10:01 Anyone tried Textadept successfully and might have a suggestion? Julian

\placeinitial to account for quotation mark

new upload: --secure and 'dk' unit

Hi, I uploaded a new version. The lmtx installer should now accept --secure (but one has to update the installation script) in which case curl is used when available on the system. There are no other chnages apart from the outrcome of an 'extension evening session' we had last week: /*tex We support the Knuthian Potrzebie cf.\ \url {https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potrzebie} as |dk| unit. It was added 2021-09-22 exactly when we crossed the season during a evening session at the 15th \CONTEXT\ meeting in Bassenge (Boirs) Belgium. It took a few iterations to find the best numerator and denominator, but Taco Hoekwater, Harald Koenig and Mikael Sundqvist figured it out in this interactive session. The error messages have been adapted accordingly and the scanner in the |tex| library also handle it. One |dk| is 6.43985pt. There is no need to make \METAPOST\ aware of this unit because there it is just a numeric multiplier in a macro package. From Wikipedia: In issue 33, Mad published a partial table of the \quotation {Potrzebie System of Weights and Measures}, developed by 19-year-old Donald E. Knuth, later a famed computer scientist. According to Knuth, the basis of this new revolutionary system is the potrzebie, which equals the thickness of Mad issue 26, or 2.2633484517438173216473 mm [...]. */ This is a follow up of a suggestion by Hraban (on the meeting attendents list): a new unit. We have 'sp' for an unscaled unit (kind of the internal one, also used at the lua end), 'ex', 'em', 'px' as relative units (the handy ones), 'mu' for math (sort of relative and adaptive too), which leaves 'cm', 'mm' (popular and valid SI), 'pt' (natural to typesetting), 'bp' (related to postscript and pdf, the unit that competing-to-tex programs use), 'dd' and 'cc' (for Tomas Hala), 'in' (for stubborn non SI users) and now also 'dk' (for Don Knuth fans). Ibid. and idem support for bibliographies (and variable scope more generally)

Hi, I've found a way to implement ibid. and idem support in the SBL specification under development at https://github.com/jjmccollum/context-sbl (this e-mail essentially repeats my comments in https://github.com/jjmccollum/context-sbl/issues/5) but I'm not sure if my solution is a recommended way to solve the problem, and I'm curious about why the more straightforward approach doesn't work. I've added useibid and useidem options for the \definebtx command (making them language-dependent by adding them to mult-def.lua, which seems to be how the other options have been implemented). Ideally, I'd like to follow the pattern of the chicago:list:sameauthor setup and use a macro similar to \btxdoifsameaspreviouselse. But since \btxdoifsameaspreviouselse relies on the indexed structure of the bibliographic list to determine what the "previous" entry is, it won't work for my purposes; I need to retrieve the tag of the last entry passed to the \cite command. I ended up making this work by initializing a global variable via ``` \setxvariables[btx:sbl][previousinlinetag=\empty] ``` in the publ-imp-sbl.mkvi file, resetting it at the end of each citation via ``` \setxvariables[btx:sbl][previousinlinetag=\currentbtxtag] ``` and checking it in the appropriate places via ``` getvariable{btx:sbl}{previousinlinetag} ``` I initially tried to do this with a simple macro \btx_sbl_previousinlinetag defined in publ-imp-sbl.mkvi (in the same scope as the rest of the specification), but attempting to reset it in the cite setups with \let or \def didn't work. Why doesn't this work? Is the setup for a cite alternative executed in its own scope in a way that would prevent me from updating a variable defined in the scope of the rendering specification? And is there a way to do this that is preferable to using global variables? Thanks! Joey

Placing pagenumer with coordinates (layers)

Hello dear context-enthusiasts, I want to place the pagenumber on a double-sided project with coordinates. I tried the layer-mechanism: \setuppagenumbering[location=] \definelayer [pagenumber] [width=\paperwidth, height=\paperheight, location={left,top}, x=120mm,y=220mm, doublesided=yes] \startsetups layer \setlayer[pagenumber][even]{\pagenumber} \stopsetups \setupbackgrounds[page][setups=layer,background={pagenumber}] \starttext ~\page~\page~\page \stoptext And it works, but only for the left (even) page. On the right page I want to place the pagenumber on different coordinates. I tried to copy the layer and then change [even] to [odd] with different coordinates, but that did not work (no pagenumber printed). What do you suggest? Thank you. Huseyin

changes of color

Hi everybody After some part of a tex file where there is some startMPcode section the color of the text (e.g. blue) changes to black up until the next page in the pdf. Is there something I am missing ? Thank you. Thierry
