xetex and external pdf stretching

Hi, I'm experimenting with xetex as suggested. All ok up to know. But I'm having a strange problem with figures. Typically I create my diagrams with Omnigraffle, export them in pdf (default setting) and reimport them in ConTeXt. Always fine. Using texexec --xtx I'm having a strange scale in vertical dimension, i.e. the figure is vertically stretched. The figure is ok, because the problem does not arise when I omit the -xtx flag. The code I'm using is trivial \placefigure{{\em Semiotiche}: produzione, distribuzione e accesso.} {\externalfigure[pipeline][width=\textwidth]} No stretching using a png instead of a pdf \placefigure{{\em Semiotiche}: produzione, distribuzione e accesso.} {\externalfigure[pipeline][width=\textwidth]} I guess it could it be in some way related to fonts (the fig is a a diagram labelled with text)? Hello, I'm struggling with getting new updated to work (it now produces broken pdfs), and found, as a side effect, that mtxrun doesn't work: c:\>mtxrun --script cache Error in lua file loading: cannot open : No such file or directory And another hint: while --make --luatex (seemingly) succeeds, --make fails: ... pdftex: unrecognized option `-tcx=natural.tcx' This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592-1.40.4 (Web2C 7.5.6) \write18 enabled. kpathsea: Running mktexfmt pdftex.fmt I can't find the format file `pdftex.fmt'! luatex:first steps

Hallo, I have installed the newest windows standalone context package. Dear Thomas, How careless I am! and sorry not to give you a sufficient information. As you said, lua!=luatex. I downloaded and installed luatex in the folder /usr/texbin. I also copied it as texlua. Now, It seems to me that luatools is working without the previous error. However, there is a problem of doing "luatools --generate" yet because I used TeXlive based on the gwTeX distribution. LuaTools | skipping /texmf-local/web2c/texmf.cnf LuaTools | skipping /texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf LuaTools | LuaTools | runtime: 0.05 seconds apple:~ dalyoung$ luatools --ini --compile --verbose cont-en LuaTools | version 1.1.1 - 2006+ - PRAGMA ADE / CONTEXT LuaTools | skipping configuration for /texmf-local/web2c from /Users/ dalyoung/luatex-cache/context/trees/d80510d450a3fa2a64df4d3741825f1d LuaTools | skipping configuration for /texmf/web2c from /Users/ dalyoung/luatex-cache/context/trees/3113242409ded67a0ad7bd508bd26609 LuaTools | no tex file with name cont-en.tex LuaTools | LuaTools | runtime: 0.05 seconds In my gwTeX, texmf.cnf is located in geTeX folder which also included the folders {texmf, texmf.gwtex. texmf.local, texmf.pkgs, texmf.texlive}, but neither in texmf.local/web2c nor in texmf/web2c. Also, context is installed in the folder texmf.pkgs/tex/context I think that it cause the problem. Is it a real cause of the above problem? Thank you. Best regards, Dalyoung

Hello, Curiouser and curiouser :) I've deleted @echo off from mtxrun.cmd, and what it shows: I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin>mtxrun.cmd --script cache I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin>setlocal I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin>set ownpath=I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin\ I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin>texlua "I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin\mtxrun.lua " --script cache Error in lua file loading: cannot open : No such file or directory I:\context\tex\texmf-mswin\bin>endlocal The texlua complains has completely no sense, since mtxrun.lua file DOES exist at that location. Hi all, Doing some tests with xetex, I get this even with the simplest "Hello world" file: ..... ** NOTICE: This document contains a `Preview & Print only' licensed font ** .... The test is executed normally though. Is there something to worry about here? tia -- Jean

itemize + linux context update

hello all, generous people: I have in a file this: \startitemize[a,packed] \item uno \item dos \stopitemize If I compile it on windows, (ver 2007.08.29) itŽs ok; but if I compile it on linux ubuntu (context version: 2007.04.17) I get this ERROR: Missing = inserted for \ifnum I suposse I need to update context in linux. I've downloaded linuxtex.zip but I donŽt know what`s next. Please tell me where to find instructions. Anyway, beyond the context version in linux, is correct that error? need help for the installation of luatools

Hi, all, I have downloaded binary files(lua5_1_2_Darwin89_bin_tar). After unzip, there are 3 files "bin2c5.1, lua5.1, luac5.1". I copied lua5.1 as luatex and texlua in the folder /usr/texbin. I also copied luatools.lua as luatools in the folder /usr/texbin. I updated the ConTeXt and try to install LuaTeX. But, I got an error as following when I issue "luatools". apple: dalyoung$ luatools texlua: /usr/texbin/luatools:4183: attempt to index global 'lua' (a nil value) stack traceback: /usr/texbin/luatools:4183: in main chunk [C]: ? I am using TeXlive installed with i-installer. Please give me some hints to avoid the errors. Thank you. Best regards, Dalyoung

Interactive slides---hidden field on every page

Good morning or whatever you have now in Europe. I'm preparing my slides. Every slide is divided to three parts (backgrounds): text, header, and bottom. I've got the navigation buttons in the bottom. Now I'd like to add one more button that would open a field on the current page---a field containing the list of content. I'd like it to go to the \Topic I want to discuss and disappear.
