Hello, I'ld like using the tex client/server (called in the past exampler ) described in the wiki page http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Cont-exa.zip. But the document http://www.pragma-ade.com/general/manuals/ex-gui.pdf is not uptodate because I don't find the "exampler" ruby script. I find the script wwwserver, I miss a step to install this tool properly. Have you an uptodate document which explained how to install and use these application. Best regards, Fabrice gaudier

It's not the file date which matters, but the version (pdfTeX --version). Wiki claims that some things have changed in pdfTeX 1.30, and MikTeX site claims that MikTeX 2.5 uses 1.30.6, so theoretically it should work, but who knows. Also: "The availability of MiKTeX 2.5 ends some time in the not so distant future: as of a fixed date it will not be possible to install packages from the remote package repository." > If I right, metapost is using the same mechanism as lilypond. So I would suggest you to try two things: - try to follow the instructions to enable write18: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Windows_Installation#write18 http://wiki.contextgarden.net/write18 - try to do what the file says: change all occurencies of \ifeof18 to \iftrue (or \iffalse - depending on whether write18 is enabled or not), since it might be that your pdfTeX doesn't support the current syntax, or it might be that something else weird is happening. I have no MikTeX here at the moment, so I cannot try, but on a completely unrelated subject: I remember that while I was stil trying to enable that module on windows (at the time when it came to existance), lilypond didn't run properly unless called with full path (i.e.: one had to call C:\programs\lilypond\bin\lilypond.exe, since calling only "lilypond" didn't work). Lilypond developers said that they didn't know how to fix that, but I hope that it has been resolved in the meantime. Mojca

Context Minimal for Windows installer

Hello, I appreciate your efforts of creating "context-setup-mswin", but I always had my own way of setting up Context. Today I created full-weight InnoSetup installer. My installer is native Windows application. It fetches files from contextgarden using rsync, then sets variables directly in registry, making Context binaries Windows-wide functional. (Call texexec from any application without need of setuptex.bat file). http://rapidshare.com/files/70450795/ContextMinimalSetup.exe I have tested it only with Luatex engine, but other may work as well. Can you try it once more? http://minimals.contextgarden.net/setup/mswin/ is really minimalistic,so you can probably figure out what's going on (or ask in case you have problems) and try to reproduce it (you can first call rsync to fetch the needed binaries and scripts, and then call mtx-update properly). mtx-update should now be able to create formats when called with "--make" (depending on the engins you select to download). > If mtx-update is so powerful, let it be the base of your installer, but I'd rather keep my simple and "pop", satisfying needs of non-advanced users (like me). What exactly do you need to do (which MikTeX components/settings do you need to disable) if you want to enable "minimal ConTeXt"? > So it would be troublesome, and I believe that person having both packages should better use conventional installer, like yours. Hi, I need some help for shorten the TeX code in the following example: My footnotes are defined like this: \def\setnotebodyfont {\let\setnotebodyfont\relax \restoreglobalbodyfont \switchtobodyfont[rm,9pt]\setupinterlinespace[line=9.8pt] \parskip2pt} But sometimes at single pages I need to shrink footnote's setupinterlinespace and parskip a bit. To adjust the percentage of shrinking (setupinterlinespace[line= \dimexpr(9.8\MyFaktor)]\parskip\dimexpr(2\MyFaktor)}) I use the following: \newdimen\MyFaktor \MyFaktor=0.978pt [Normal body-text ...] \def\setnotebodyfont {\let\setnotebodyfont\relax \restoreglobalbodyfont \switchtobodyfont[rm,9pt]\setupinterlinespace[line=\dimexpr(9.8 \MyFaktor)]\parskip\dimexpr(2\MyFaktor)} [...] Text with footnotes [...] \def\setnotebodyfont {\let\setnotebodyfont\relax \restoreglobalbodyfont \switchtobodyfont[rm,9pt]\setupinterlinespace[line=9.8pt] \parskip2pt} [...] This works great, but looks ugly and not clear at all!! It's inevitable; if you want to use them in parallel, use Context in old way. This installer is for clean machines only. But there is good news also.
