ConTeXt meeting 2022 – please register!

Hi folks & friends, I’d like to remind you to register for the current ConTeXt meeting (September 12–18 in Germany), we must close registration in about two weeks, and my list is still rather short. https://meeting.contextgarden.net/2022/ If you registered early and got only an error message from the form, please register again. And please don’t think you could avoid a registration because everyone knows you’ll come (except Hans). Otherwise it’s normal that you got no response from me (sorry!). We have no Covid restrictions in Germany any more, even if the incidences are high, except that you must wear a mask in trains and are asked to in some other places. I’d ask you to test yourself before traveling. It would be nice if you would register also for online attendance, just for my information. Since the regular online meetup would be during the conference, we will drop that. Looking forward to seeing you soon, Hraban

Hi, Denis’ article in the CG journal uses the publications module with a .bib database. What exactly is lpath?

Hi everyone Just a question I've been thinking about from time to time: What exactly is lpath? Is that ConTeXt-specific? Or something more general from Lua? I've of course asked Google, but Lpath seems to a Python-inspired path library for Lua unrelated to XML... Forbid footnotes from splitting across pages

Dear gang, Objectives: i) Prevent footnotes from splitting across a page or pagebreak ii) Make sure that the footnote reference number in the main text is always on the same page as the footnote. Yes, the result may not be pretty, but for some manuscript submissions it will make sense. In the attached MWE (copied below), footnote 3 gets split across the page, despite [split=verystrict]. Indeed, split=verystrict seems to do nothing. (Reproducing case ii) is more difficult.) font fallbacks

Hi, I thought I could use more than one fallback font, but as soon as I list fallbacks, they stop working. In my example, I’d like to take all missing glyphs from Segoe UI Symbols, and what’s still missing (emojis) from EmojiOneColor, preferably without specifying the exact range. Set up external figure for particular image type

A document has a mix of SVG and PNG images. Changing the parameters for `\setupexternalfigure` affects both SVG and PNG images. Consider the following code: \setupexternalfigures[ order={svg,pdf,png,jpg}, location={local,default,global}, directory={images}, maxwidth=\textwidth, maxheight=0.4\textheight ] I'd like to change the `maxheight` option for only PNG images, such as: \setupexternalfigure[ method=png, maxwidth=\textwidth, maxheight=\textheight, ] However, this affects SVG images as well. How do you apply different external figure setups based on image type? Thank you!

The horizontal axis label of mwe below has 0.0 (showing tenths; pdf attached; filename is mwe.tex). I expected it to show -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, (integers only). Unwanted blank page before page figures when using non-placed (hidden) heads

Hey there, I am having trouble understanding some basic blank page behavior. I hope that somebody of you can point me in the right direction. My primary goal is to create application documents consisting of various .tex components and with external PDF pages inserted as well. The second part of that goal is to use multiple-level bookmarking as well. Bookmarking should look like this: - Letter - Resume - Testimonies -- Testimony A -- Testimony B -- Testimony C In the following MWE you can see my progress along with some notes to help understanding. There are two questions, I'd wish could be answered: 1. Why does TeX insert a blank page before a pagefigure I enclose within a (hidden) head? 2. Can the \bookmark[list]{text} command be somehow used for multi-level bookmarking? While the first question would make up for a more consistent solution, the second question would do the job as well. I hope some of you can enlighten me.
