passing dimensions to metapost

Hi all, cleaning up the code in my module, I run into a very interesting problem. I want to pass a user-defined value to Metapost. Until now, the value "scale" had to be numeric, and I used it like this: draw fullcircle scaled \MPvar{scale}mm and Metapost was happy, and I was too. Now Aditya made the reasonable suggestion that users should be allowed to input any dimension and not be restricted to "mm." Easy enough. However, I also want a fallback just in case they input a number, in that case, I want to fall back to mm as a default. If it isn't, check if it is a number; if this is the case, append the unit "mm" to it and put it into a dimension register. If it isn't a number either, make the value sufficiently absurd for the user to realize and write a message to the terminal. This is all fine and dandy and works, sort of: it works perfectly with dimensions, but when I try with a number as input, it doesn't fall back to the unit "mm," but to "pt," AFAICS. That's nice too, but I have no clue why, and I would prefer mm. If it helps, I can try to give you a minimal test file tomorrow, but maybe somebody spots what I'm doing wrong? (I tried both with mkii and mkiv, and always get the same result.) All best Thomas

Font fallbacks

Hi, the \definefontfallback commands use only the last setting in a comma seperated list. In this example only characters from 0x0071 to 0x0081 are set in bolditalic. \definefontfallback [whatever] [BoldItalic] [0x0041-0x0051,0x0071-0x0081] \definefontsynonym[SerifPlus][Serif][fallbacks=whatever] \definefont[MySerif][SerifPlus] \starttext \MySerif \dostepwiserecurse{65}{255}{1} {\char\recurselevel\hskip10pt plus 5pt\relax} \stoptext Wolfgang

big are big with lucida

Hello The bigl, bigr ans so on are really BIG (huge even) when used with lucida. scite and lm

Hi, in the minimals there is a ttf file: .../texmf-context/fonts/truetype/hoekwater/lm/LMTypewriter10-Regular.ttf you can copy that file to c:\Windows\Fonts then in in context.properties you can set if PLAT_WIN font.monospace=font:LMTypewriter10-Regular,size:14 font.errorfont=font:LMTypewriter10-Regular,size:12 if PLAT_GTK font.monospace=font:!lm mono 10 regular,size:14 font.errorfont=font:!lm mono 10 regular,size:12 and you get lm as editor font I don't know what is needed for linux. vertical position of framed sucks!

Hi, in order to write a command=... for \setuphead I am fighting with the following \framed: \starttext \showframe \def\TestFrame% {\hbox to \hsize\bgroup% \tbox{\midaligned\framed[frame=on,align=middle,width=0.85\textwidth] {{\kern0.75em}Test}}% \egroup} \TestFrame %Test% <- \stoptext I only want the framed "Test" to be at the same vertical position as the plain "Test" (please compare). Font questions once again...

Hi all! And once again I am asking obout fonts in ConTeXt... The point is that I am not sure whether anything has changed since I've asked for the previous time;). I mean, I'd like to give Mk IV a try. Most probably I will try to maintain two different TeX installations at the same time, so a third one (ConTeXt) won't be more trouble. This means that I will (most probably) install the Minimals so that they won't interfere with my TeXlives (one 2008 and one much older). So, the questions are: * Is TeX Gyre support already working in MkIV? * The page about Minimals on the wiki mentions LM, Antykwa Torunska, Iwona, Kurier, TeX Gyre, ams. Does this means they are available there? (And what about Antykwa Poltawskiego...?) * How do I switch to any of these fonts (I mean for the whole document)? * How do I (globally) change the size of the font? Reorganization of the main page

Hi, After the discussions at Bohinj, I have created a new first page of the wiki. I am tried to keep things short and to the point, rather than complete. As a result a lot of links that were present in the original main page are missing. This is the first step in the effort to clean up and reorganize the wiki so that it is easier to browse. Hello, Don't know whether it is already answered or not, but if you have to run scite.bat from mswincontext folder, not first-setup.bat. It should work out of the box. First of all, build format files (Oprtions or Tools menu, don't remember exactly), and then press F7 each time you compile a document. Regards, Vyatcheslav Yatskovsky
