setupsynonym: 2 questions on width

1.) I have a list of synonyms that I need to print in an aligned list. Is there a way to align the synonym definitions with the longest synonym entry (width=? option maybe)? Here is a small example where the entries do not align. \definesynonyms[nomenclature][nomenclatures][\infull] \setupsynonyms[nomenclature][criterium=all,width=broad] \nomenclature[a]{a}{This is the letter a} \nomenclature[b]{abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz}{This is the alphabet} \nomenclature[c]{c}{This is the letter c} \starttext \placelistofnomenclatures \stoptext 2.) Also, if the width in setupsynonyms is set to a value smaller than the length of the longest entry, the entry tries to wrap around, but it writes over top of the next entry. Obviously this is not desirable. Is there a way to have the next entry below the "wrapped" long entry instead of on the same line? Hi Hans, hi all, First: in the last 2 Betas (today and yesterday) the parameter --interface for texexec seems not to work anymore. my log: >texmfstart texexec --interface=xp --autopdf --luatex ligtest.tex TeXExec | processing document 'ligtest.tex' TeXExec | no ctx file found TeXExec | tex processing method: false TeXExec | tex engine: luatex TeXExec | tex format: false TeXExec | runtime: 0.86 >Exit code: 0 context --make xp builds a format cont-xp without error messages. The format cont-en runs well with: texmfstart texexec --autopdf --luatex ligtest.tex Second: The command || like in knuth.tex seems not to work properly in mkiv. Even with enabled liga feature it builds two hyphens. Last: I can't enable fontfeatures for the "Vista-Fonts" for instance Cambria. They are simply ignored. extra offsets

Hi, concerning the offsets in framed .. - we cannot use leftoffset etc as name because these are already used in mechanisms that build on top of framed and it would add quite some extra code (and probably bugs) to those mechanisms - adding additional rulethickness variants is non trivial since the rulethickness is also used elsewhere (rounded corners etc) and the code would become rather messy; also, we can use mp for special frames (after all, extra thickness makes no sense without extra colors) so, as an experiment i added support for extra offsets but these work *on top* of the existing offset; they have names like loffset, roffset, toffset and boffset; the speed penalty is neglectable (only mkiv because it has a more clever inheritance model for derived framed mechanisms) Hans ps. for quite a long time there is a command \offset which takes leftoffset cum suis plus some more ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hans Hagen | PRAGMA ADE Ridderstraat 27 | 8061 GH Hasselt | The Netherlands tel: 038 477 53 69 | fax: 038 477 53 74 | www.pragma-ade.com | www.pragma-pod.nl -----------------------------------------------------------------

Switching off Header only on a particular page

Hi, Is there a way to switch off just the header on a particular page? The Context manual gives the command \noheaderandfooterlines to switch off both. However, I want the page number (which is in the footer) on the first page, but no headers on the first page. Thanks.

Update script does not work

Hello, When I use mtxrun.cmd --script mtx-update.lua --update --force --engine=all --platform=windows --context=beta --texroot=C:\contextminimal the rsync ends up with something like "destination and source locations are the same". I had many problems with updating this way, but when downloaded cont-tmg.zip directly from pragma and unpacked it into tree they all has gone . Definitely, something wrong with the mtx-update script or garden folders. Who can look into it? Best regards, Vyatcheslav

PhD Thesis in ConTeXt

Hello, I have spent some time with google in order to find an answer to the following questions. Unfortunatly, I was not satisfied with the answers, which I now hope to find here. It is my plan not to use the MS Office suite for the production of my PhD thesis (in chemistry). I have used Miktex some years ago during my studies for some project reports, and I remember beeing quite satisfied with the results. My Master thesis, on the other hand, I wrote in word.. and although I remember not having too many difficulties, there were some nasty obstacles to be overcome. Obstacles which I simply do not want to risk having repeated a second time on a much bigger scale. I this mailing list I read several reports of people who either had written their thesis in Latex or ConTeXt. There was a mention of Latex beeing designed for mathematic purposes, while ConTeXt was said to be better suited for the intergration of graphics or larger/more complex layout changes. 1) Finding the right context For now I had quite some difficulties to find that proper Latex distribution - a problem that actually led me to the existence of ConTeXt. I am wondering which latex distribution I should choose in order to work with ConTeXt? I am running Windows Vista (64-bit). Or is there a ConTeXt stand alone package that will absolutely satisfy my me in my needs? In principle, all I need is 2) The right editor What is the preferred editor for ConTeXt? for such a project? Is there any loss in functionality when using Texniccenter with ConTeXt than with MikTex instead? 3) I have seen some thesis templates/examples in this mailinglist. Can anyone point me to additional sources regarding the creation of a PhD Thesis with ConTeXt? What is the advantage over Latex, what are the disadvantages? Is there a win-win distribution somewhere on the table? 4) Has anyone used a typesetting suite like ContTeXt with CVS? 5) Is the ConTeXt reference system compatible with Endnote? Is there any point to have latex installed, when context can do the trick? Or lets ask the devils advocate the other way around: What is the point of installing context, when latex could do the trick? Apart that I have to re-learn latex anyway.. what is better with Context?
