Latest Notepad++ package for ConTeXt

Dear gang, I have uploaded the latest version of the ConTeXt support package for Notepad++. http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Image:Npp_ConTeXt-Uni.zip It has been updated to 5.1.4, the latest stable version. There are now two versions of Notepad++: ANSI and Unicode. The ANSI version is mostly a legacy version, which supports Win95/98/ME. Unicode Npp supports Unicode path names etc., and is the main release. Most to all important plugins have been ported to Unicode Npp; this and future versions of this package for ConTeXt will only support Unicode Npp from now on. Old plugins will not work with Unicode Npp, so be sure to remove them before installing the latest Npp. See https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=5503888 for more details. NppExec console plugin is essential for this package. It is installed by default by the Npp installer. This support package includes a redundant NppExec plugin -- in case you forgot to install it ;-) -- as well as the Explorer plugin and the XBrackets plugin -- not included in the main distro. XBrackets provides bracket autocompletion and is configurable. Directory structure has changed a bit: Npp now stores some config settings in Application Data\Notepad++\plugins\config that used to be stored in eg Program Files\Notepad++\plugins\Config the startstop module has been moved to texmf-project. Most of its features are or soon will be made obsolete in mkiv. The run commands are now all linked to scripts. Shortcuts are in the Macros menu, and you by F6 you can open the scripts console and editor. This way it's easier to edit the commands as well as to keep up with changes in the way ConTeXt does things etc. All reference to aleph is gone, luatex is its successor. "Update ConTeXt" is almost certainly obsolete; I never use it anyway. Feel free to send me an updated script for inclusion. I have never used XeTeX, the XeTeX related scripts may need adjustment. Questions about (start)itemize

I started making lists and sublists. In the first startitemize I use an 8 in the setup, because I want squared bullets. For my sublists I use 5, because I want to use circles there. Is there a way not to have to put it everywhere? (When I change to a triangle, I do not want to change it everywhere.) Is there a way to keep items automatically together? At a certain point I started a new sublist. But only the first came on the page and the rest on the next. Because I am printing on A7, it will happen moren often. What is the meaning of KA and KR in the setup. I see a difference, but I do not understand it. -- Cecil Westerhof

Is there a way to get it back? - The table is on the right side of the paper. How can I get it centered on the page? Also is it possible to let the rows fill the complete page? I mean: if there is room for 40 rows, that there are automatically 40 rows. -- Cecil Westerhof

Choosing ConTeXt install method on Mac

Hello all I'm going to do a clean re-install of my machine (Tiger on PPC) soon, and I'd like guidance on methods of installing ConTeXt. I assume that (a) TeX Live 2008 with its tlmgr utility, or (b) ConTeXt minimals, are the two realistic possibilities - is this correct? What I'd like: - A clear way of keeping ConTeXt mkiv usable and up to date with Hans's latest version - An installation method that will continue to be maintained, and that is expected to be used by the majority of ordinary users of ConTeXt in the future ...So should I go for TeX Live, or the minimals, or something else I don't know about yet? Grateful for any advice... David

Merging background

I have a template for a letter in which I use \setupbackgrounds. I also have a tenplate for a watermark which also uses \setupbackgrounds. The background from the last include is used. Is there a way to merge the backgrounds? -- Cecil Westerhof

bug in math mode

Hi, Taco: Last week you invited me to test the trunk version of luatex. Today I compiled LuaTeX trunk version (This is LuaTeX, Version snapshot-0.32.0-2009011719, build unknown) and used first-setup.sh (change --context tag into experimental as Mojca suggested) to download the ConTeXt (MtxRun | current version: 2009.01.17 00:15) distribution. And after compiling one of my thesis, I found there is a bug in mathmode. I am not sure whether it is a bug in luatex itself or a bug in ConTeXt. Yue Wang

Using defaults and indexes

In my template I have: \long\def\letterclosing#1#2{ \blank[line]#1, \blank[3*line]#2 } And in the main file I have: \letterclosing{Hoogachtend}{Cecil Westerhof} But I would like to have this as the default, so I could use: \letterclosing Beside that I would like to have the possibility to use: \letterclosing{business} or \letterclosing{family} This would then use defined values. When the first parameter is filled, but not with a recognized value, then the second parameter should be filled. If not, the compilation of the file should generate an error. Is this something that can be done? -- Cecil Westerhof
