macro beginner question

Hello all, in the process of learning macro programming in context i encountered the following problem (minimal example is attached): When i have \setuphead[section][color={red}] the color key influences in a strange way my „novice macro“ (see the text which should be black but is red). Further more the \ruledhbox in my macro stops at some point the red color (with a normal \hbox all the text in the section is red). what i´m doing wrong here? I don’t expect such a behaviour best regards Bernhard

Keeping margin note on the same line

Hello, Please, advise me. Is there a way to keep margin text and body text on the same line in the following situation? \define[0]\chorus{\startnarrower{\itx CHORUS}\stopnarrower} \starttext \chorus \chorus \inmargin{B}\chorus \stoptext Now "B" is above "CHORUS", I want it to be exactly on the same line. (Hongwen Qiu) hi hongwen, thanks for taking an interest. my initial post had a mistake: i meant to refer to the /Metafun/ manual, not the Metapost manual. that probably didn't help. i guess what i should have said is, i know that pxy can give me the bounding /box/ (the rectangle with the maximum horizontal and vertical extents of its contents, be they set in horizontal or vertical mode), but can it give me the subset of that, the bounding /path/, if you will, when the contents are text which flows over several lines. the bounding /path/ may not be rectangular, although it will be something like the union of the bounding boxes of the text's individual lines. i think if you look at the correct reference, the difference of the effects is clear. i think the challenge is that you don't know where the line breaks will occur until you typeset it. --adam

I've quickly run a (MkII) document under MkIV after updating to 2010.05.27, but it didn't compile (perhaps this is related to the other interaction bugs in MkIV): \setupinteraction[state=start] \starttext \section{\inmargin{}} \stoptext -- -- Rogutės Sparnuotos

Wrong spacing before and after commas in math(?)

Hi, if I'm typesetting for example $(a,x,\dots,b)$ I see that the space before the x is too small. It should be bigger than the space after the x. I could work around it by typing $a,\,x,\dots,\,b$ but this is somewhat inconvenient and even a bit too much spacing... On the other hand, the spacing before \dots is just right, but the spacing after \dots is too small: the spaces between commas and periods ",...," should all be the same. Is this a bug? Can this be changed by a global option or something? Thanks for any help in advance. XITS Math font - first beata

As promised, the OpenType MATH enriched version of STIX fonts, XITS, is now available. This early version provides: * OpenType math constants values, necessary for proper layout of various math elements. * proper math accent positioning. * proper sub/superscript positioning (not fine tuned yet). * extensible radicals, delimiters and math accents. * oldstyle figures. * some pre-composed fraction. Tarball can be downloaded from: http://github.com/khaledhosny/xits-math/downloads Feature requests, bug reports and fixes, should be directed to the issue tracker: http://github.com/khaledhosny/xits-math/issues Against the practice of STIX project, this version have not been extensively tested, only few basic tests through ConTeXt MkIV were done. Instead, in the spirit of open development model, I'm releasing early and often and trusting that thee are many people with more knowledge of math aesthetics and sharp eyes to spot error better than what I can ever do. Others are highly welcomed to test against other OpenType MATH implementations, namely unicode-math (with both XeTeX and LuaTeX) and MS Office 2007 and higher. Slides: uncover things piecewise

Hi, I use the »simpleslides« module for a presentation and I wonder if it is possible to uncover things piecewise. Take the following example: \usemodule [simpleslides] \starttext \SlideTitle {My Topic} \startitemize \item First % Visible by default \item Second % Gray by default \item Third % Gray by default \stopitemize \stoptext I want to achieve the following: The first item should be visible by default. The second and third items are not visible or grayed out. The by jumping to the (physically) next slide (for the audience it's still the same page) the second item will be displayed and so on... I've found some old pieces of code in the mail archive but didn't get it to work. Kind regards Marco

\MPpos, pxy, initialize_box(), oh my!

hello all, i finished a presentation (my first ConTeXt creation!), and now i've got a couple days to get creative again. i'm trying to understand how the typeset lines of text in the MetaPost manual were outlined in Section 5.1. i've just discovered that \MPpos only seems to work in MPpositiongraphics, and initialize_box sets `pxy' to \hpos's contents bounding box. what if you want pxy to be not strictly a rectangle, but the path that encloses text, etc., which is just part of flowing text in a paragraph, like page 247 (beginning of Positional Graphics chapter) in the MetaPost manual? i've read the MetaPost manual. i hope the answer isn't too obvious. thanks, adam
