font features in the wiki

Dear list, since Hans has asked me for an addition to the wiki, I was thinking of adding a complete explanation of font features. I must admit that https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Featuresets wouldn’t be the best way that I would choose to explain this. Of course, I don’t want to impose my view on this topic. I wonder whether it would make sense that I start a new article on font features and when finished, see the way to merge the contents from the featureset. I’m especially asking Idris, Hraban and MHB. Of course, I might be wrong and I’m happy to be corrected about my proposal on font features in the wiki. Many thanks for your help, Pablo

rewrite for Greek in the wiki

Dear list, just in case it might help, I’ve rewritten the Greek entry in the wiki: https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Greek Although nobody seemed to have mentioned them (afaIk), there are two issues: 1. Hyphenation patterns are different for ancient, monotonic and modern polytonic Greek. Greek ortography was polytonic before 1982. ConTeXt includes patterns for ancient and monotonic Greek, but none for modern polytonic Greek (http://mirror.ctan.org/language/hyph-utf8/tex/generic/hyph-utf8/patterns/te…) Ironically, modern polytonic Greek patterns would be required to typeset both the act and the decree that introduced the monotonic ortography. 2. Greek doesn’t seem to have language-dependent commands (such as \currentdate). In both cases, Hans will reply that nobody asked for any of them. Of course, I totally agree. AfaIk, nobody asked for these features. Just in case it might help, Pablo

Change in \vec behavior

Hello, As I usually do at the end of each year, I upgraded my ConTeXt installation. I noticed a change in \vec behavior which doesn't extend the arrow anymore. Here is my example: \starttext Engine: \texenginename\ \texengineversion \ConTeXt: \contextversionnumber \type{$\vec{AB}$} : $\vec{AB}$ \stoptext The result with the latest ConTeXt version: and with the version from a year ago: I am aware that I could use \overrightarrow, but I prefer the shape and position of the \vec arrow, especially with single letters. What is the rationale for the change in \vec? Is there a way to get the previous behavior back? variable font not working

Dear list, using current latest (from 2023.01.15 14:04), the just released version of Source Serif 4 Variable (https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-serif/releases/latest) and the following sample: \usemodule[fonts-variable] \starttext \showfontvariations[font=file:SourceSerif4Variable-Roman.otf] \stoptext ConTeX outputs no text with that font. Why won't custom indexes work when the value comes from \getvalue?

I setup a custom index like this (see minimum example code below): The problem is, when I try to create an index entry, using \setcoreidea, but place \getvalue inside, it won't render, ex.: \setcoreidea{\getvalue{secret1}} As you can see in this sample code, \setcoreidea will work fine, but when \getvalue{} is placed inside, it can't find the value. What's the current method for using a variable font in Context and Metapost?

I haven't been able to find working examples. Here is some sample code. A new version of the PocketDiary module and a collection of examples for creating calenders

Hi everybody, I uploaded a new version of the PocketDiary module to the ConTeXt garden. The version 2.2 is providing the calendar functionality as it is presented in PocketMods (https://pocketmod.com/) It includes day, week, month and year tables. There are two variations of the outcome. The first is that the module creates a week calendar with eahc working day on one page and the weekend on one page. The other version allows to setup an individual setup of the pages. This module also comes with a couple of templates for general information keeping. The new version includes also sun and moon data calculations. The latest version now calculates the Daylight Saving Time automatically for America and Europe or none if desired. Next to this I uploaded a collection of calendars based on the PocketDiary module’s machinery. These calendars are typeset either as A6 or A5 sized pages printed on A4 paper and impositioned for making books.. There is also a photo-calender on A4 paper. Calendar types included are: year calendar with 1 day per page, year calendar with 1 week on two facing pages, a menu calendar and a sun and moon data calendar. Also included in this collection is a so called date-driven list generator. This allows to produce lists with any kind of date interval in days for any duration. It allows to adjust the number of columns in the list as well as changing the column heads to the requirements of the list. I hope that some of you might find this helpful. Kind regards Willi

Not sure if this is related in any way, but \overset behaves weirdly with the equal sign: \startformula \overset{weird}{=} \stopformula (workaround/solution is \overset{weird}{\mathop{=}}, or \mathop{=}^{weird})

wider font effect as font feature?

Dear list, I wanted to use a font with slightly wider effect, such as in: \definetweakedfont[wider][xscale=1.075] Is there any way that it could be applied as a font feature? Or how could I apply this effect everytime a \definefontfamily is used? Many thanks for your help, Pablo
