If I have various setups like: \startxmlsetups xam:setups \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{..{xam:*} \stopxmlsetups \xmlregistersetup{xam:setups} \startxmlsetups xbm:setups \xmlsetsetup{\xmldocument}{..{xbm:*} \stopxmlsetups \xmlregistersetup{xbm:setups} Is it then possible to have \xmlall{#1}{lpath} with a path such that on the top level restrictions apply to some of the xam:setups but to none of the xbm:setups? xml path

Having for example xml-structure: <rootnode> <node1><subnode1>..</subnode1></node1> <node2/> /node3/> </rootnode> With the path expression \xmlall{#1}{!node1} the <node1> should be suppressed, as happens in case. However, nodes under <node1> like <subnode1> should be suppressed because <node1> is suppressed. But that is not the case, these nodes do appear. Apparently I need another path expression. rotated placetable

Hello, On October 1, 2010 Mojca asked about inserting a rotated page content (landscape) in an otherwise portrait document, keeping the headers and footers upright. The suggested solution was essentially \rotate [rotation=90] {\startTEXpage [width=\textheight,height=\textwidth] ... \stopTEXpage} I would like to place a wide table rotated as above, keeping the page headers and footers upright. In other words, I would like to do something like \startplacetable [location=page,orientation=90,title=Table caption] ... \stopplacetable That is, rotate the table contents *and its caption*, but not the page header and footer. Note that the following will indeed rotate the contents but not the caption. \startplacetable [title=Table caption] \rotate [rotation=90] {\startTEXpage ... \stopTEXpage} \stopplacetable Alan

Kile for ConTeXt

Does anyone here uses Kile for ConTeXt? On contextgarden-wiki I read "has native ConTeXt support as well". I installed Kile and as the only thing concerning ConTeXt II found Build -> Compile -> ConTeXt But no highlighting or autocompletion. Google gave no answer. Do I have to install an additional aplugin? Regards Janis

stoppers in section heading without having stoppers in references?

In MkIV, is there a way to get a stopper (e.g. ".") in the section heading, along the lines of "1. First heading" but without a reference to it having the stopper? Thus, the reference should be just "In Chapter 1 we learn", not "In Chapter 1. we learn"? I have tried many variants of the following minimal example: \setuphead[chapter][sectionstopper=.] \definereferenceformat [inchapter] [text={Chapter~}] \starttext \chapter[one]{First heading} \input knuth \inchapter[one] we learn. \stoptext -Sanjoy

In last year Context this worked: >> \define\imagepath {/home/janis/images} >> \externalfigure[\imagepath/test.jpg] Now this change is necesarry: > \defineexpandble\imagepath {/home/janis/images} Where do the change come from: Context, Tex or Luatex? Is there a genereal change which we have to take care off? Last year I made a book with a lot of programming in Context and I would like to use the code for the next book. Regards Janis

The following two commands seem to do the same: \defineexpandable\... \def\... And this two also do the same: \define\... \unexpanded\def\... \def is a low-level-command and shouldn't be used. Right? Regards Janis

An example which was working with ConText (version beginning 2012) - and now I get an error: \define\imagepath {/home/janis/images} \starttext \externalfigure[\imagepath/test.jpg] \stoptext LuaTeX error [string "\directlua "]:1: invalid escape sequence near '\i' Without my parameter \imagepath there ist no problem. And if I want to see the "echo" of the parameter with \imagepath I get "/home/janis/images" which I expect. I need parameters very often. How can I use my parameter \imagepath in \externafigure? Is fine-grained grid control possible?

I asked a question on tex.stackoverflow, and it was suggested ConTeXt could help and that I should repost my question here. http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/108850/is-fine-grained-grid-control-… I want to make a variety of checklists which are essentially based on a grid layout. I care about having fine-grained control over the exact placement of labels and boxes. I do not care about paragraphs, hypenation, equations, or anything like that which I know TeX is very good at. Is ConTeX a good fit for my needs? How could I do it? I've already though about Tikz and PGF but I don't think they give me enough fine-grained control. If I fail to find a way to solve my problem using TeX I will probably explore SVG and PostScript. Missing number error, related to setupcolumnsetlines

Hello, I've got a "Missing number error, treated as zero". I've whittled the problem code down to this minimal example: \definecolumnset [abbcolumn] [n=2,distance=5mm,balancing=yes] \setupcolumnsetlines[abbcolumn][1][1][60] \setupcolumnsetlines[abbcolumn][1][2][60] \starttext \startcolumnset[abbcolumn] foo \stopcolumnset \stoptext By contrast, if I remove the \setupcolumnsetlines commands, the error goes away. (But I think I need those commands, in case the text has more than 60 lines.) Also, if I run the example shown on this page http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setupcolumnsetlines which seems very similar to mine, it works fine; no errors. Based on the latter working example, I tried adding the following to my minimal example that fails: \switchtobodyfont[small] or \setupcolumnsetstart[abbcolumn][1][1][1] \setupcolumnsetstart[abbcolumn][1][2][1] but neither one solved the problem. Here is more of the error output I received when running TeX on the minimal example shown at the start of this email: !
