Dear everyone, I am currently implementing the old French Bible of David Martin in ConTeXt MkIV. These books are divided into chapters, and the chapters into verses. The purpose of \start(\stop)biblebook, \start(\stop)biblechapter, and \start(\stop)bibleverse is to format the books, chapters, and verses respectively (as the commands \start(\stop)section, \start(\stop)subsection, etc., do). As you see, theses commands are user-defined and take key-value options. My goal is to define their semantics (the way they do the formatting) with Lua. But I do not knwo how to do this. SyncTeX (TeXworks) - \enabledirectives[system.synctex]

Hello, two questions related to SyncTeX (and maybe on TeXworks): 1. The following code: ---- \enabledirectives[system.synctex] \starttext Hello! \startluacode % line 6 context("Something") \stopluacode \stoptext ---- doesn't produce SyncTeX file (SyncTeX.synctex.gz). When I compile the file with "context.exe --synctex" option, the file is produced. Does it mean that "\enabledirectives[system.synctex]" is deprecated? 2. In the code above, text "Hello!" is generated in "normal TeX scope" whilst "Something" is generated from within Lua. When I click "Jump to source" from TeXworks editor and previewer, jumping from "Something" works well and goes to the source "SyncTeX.mkiv" correctly. "Jumping to source" from "Something" yields "Cannot read file <directory-of-the-source-file>" error (see attached picture). I don't know whether this relates to ConTeXt or rather TeXworks; for the case it should relate to ConTeXt, would it be possible generate an anchor (e.g.) to the nearest encapsulating \startluacode (if present; or \ctxlua, \cldcontext and so), so that "Jump to source" over "Something" would jump to \startluacode on "line 6"? Math - how to mix fonts?

Hello, I am not very familiar with mixing fonts in math. I would need to mix several font styles: 1. "normal" (default - slanted, serif) for general variables, 2. slanted serif bold for vectors, 3. slanted sans bold for varieties. In the following snippet, the right fonts are displayed in the \text scope, but not in the math: ---- \definetypeface[boldmath][mm][boldmath][latin-modern][default] \starttext \startformula \text{\sl 1. Normal:}\quad Abcd \alpha \stopformula \startformula \text{\bs 2. Bold:}\quad\boldmath{Abcd \alpha} \stopformula \startformula \text{\bs\ss 3. SansBold:}\quad\ss\boldmath{Abcd \alpha} \stopformula \stoptext ---- You can see that \boldmath has no effect (although "\definetypeface[boldmath][mm][boldmath][latin-modern][default]" was used, as described on http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Bold_Math ). So - what is the best way to define (enable) and use fonts styles 1.-3. in math? I can see the verb-xxxx (for mkII) but no pret-xxx (for mkIV) in the base folder. Dig out contents of the TeX macro using Lua

Hello ConTeXist. I hope that my crazy questions not much bother. This time I needed to get to the fair value of the parameter, delivering to lua function over the content macros. Obviously it's my misunderstanding of the functioning of expansion in case maker with optional parameters, or you really can not explain the functioning of the transmission values. It seems that is passed to a sort of reference as to the actual contents of the macro perhaps can not even get through Lua. Or did they? The following minimal example, perhaps explain what going on. The question ultimately: Is there any alternative how using Lua somehow easily evaluate the macro content? For example to determine whether two different macros have the same content? Bug: Figures in columnset not displayed or compilation fails

ConTeXt version: 2015.07.10 00:05 When I attempt to compile the minimal examples listed below with «context», wrong behavior can be observed. No problems occur if it is compiled with «texexec». The problems seem to arise when there are figures in a columnset in proximity to a page break. If there are two consecutive figures at the page end, the compilation fails in some cases. In example #1, if the figure height is large enough that the figure does not fit on the first page, the figure is not displayed at all. I tried different position keys and observed no difference. The last occurence of «\input lorem» is mandatory for this behavior. In example #2, if the height of either of the figures so large, that is it not possible to put both figures on the first page, and the size of the other figure is small enough, that this single figure would fit on the page, the compilation error #1 occurs. This is independent of the consecutive text, i. e. the last «\input lorem» line. If the position keyword «top» is assigned to the smaller figure, it is displayed, unlike the other, large figure. If both figure heights are large, no figure is displayed (like in example #1) unless we remove the last «\input lorem» line. By the way, the path in \externalfigure does not point to an existing file. Thanks Hans. At this moment, it works fine. For me it is quite essential novelty and it is very much handy for me. It seems that works only in the standalone version because version in TeXlive 2014 version it tells an error message (but does not matter on it). I want to even ask how you can write a macro with one or more parameters? Now the parameter in square brackets displayed together with the contents of the macro. You can do this at all? Aligned equations break grid

The following code fails; however, it succeeds without newotf, and it succeeds with newotf if the defined font feature (*hebrew) is removed from the \definefont command. The characters that demonstrate the problem are HEBREW LETTER LAMED combined with HEBREW POINT HOLAM, followed by HEBREW LETTER ALEF (U05DC with combining U05B9 followed by U05D0). Bibliography

Hello, I have a bibliography database in Lua. I suppose to use this DB to create a list of publications with Lua and \startpublication ... \stoppublication. So I will get something like: ---- % Will be generated by Lua, but for now >> \startpublication [k=me, t=article, a=LPr, y=2000, s=Shr, n=1, ] \city{Prg} \stoppublication % Will be generated by Lua, but for now << \setuppublications[alternative=apa] \starttext Hello \cite[me] -- \cite[Shr] -- \cite[1]. \placepublications[criterium=all] \stoptext ---- The problem is that \cite produces "(Xxxxxxxxxx, 0000)" and no list of publications is generated. What am I doing wrong? NB: I learned from http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Bibliography_mkiv and http://www.let.rug.nl/alfa/texmf/tetex30/context/bib/bibmod-doc.pdf My one-off is that I have not a .bib file and I would like to avoid .bib generation and use of BibTeX if possible. I guess that having a biblio DB in Lua is handy enough as Lua can convert the DB in whatever format - eg. via context.startpublication(...) ... context.stoppublication() So, how to "handle" the bibliography in a best manner? Hello list! I am pleased to announce v1.0 of ConTeXtBBLM, a BBEdit Language Module to support ConTeXt. This language module is built for BBEdit v11, and supports MkIV-style sectioning for navigation. A brief list of features: * Navigation by heading titles (including titles from user-defined heads). * Navigation by callouts (TODO:, FIXME:, etc.) in comments. * Navigation to files referenced by the \environment command. * Folding text within balanced \start and \stop commands. * Syntax coloring of text, comments, commands, command parameters, and command options. * Keyword support. * Command completion. At the moment, this file is empty, and can be customized as needed (plain text, one keyword per line). I'd like to use the output of: mtxrun -script interface --text ...as a drop-in for this text file, but it appears the command list this script generates is incomplete. Hi, I uploaded a new beta. As a prelude to some updates / improvements in the font handling an experimental new otf fontloader/handler is present. This one is not used by default but will likely replace the current one (only when it has been tested enough). At that time also some other pending changes will happen (no functional differences, only improvements). There are a few advantages to the new approach: - Indentifying fonts goes a bit faster (some 20 times) but that is already in the core. - The mem footprint of initial loading a font is smaller. - Initial loading can a bit slower depending on the kind of font (no big deal as we cache files) and if really needed can be sped up a bit. - The cached instance is smaller. - Loading the cached font is faster (not that it was slow but still). - Some bits and pieces have been optimized (there is room for more but I might decide not to do that). - Extra substitution features like tlig and trep are now runtime and not cached. - Processing in node mode can be somewhat faster for complex fonts. - The generic font code will stay as it is for at least a while after the new code has become stable and the current method will stay around too. Of course there will be bugs although the test suite runs without crashing. I will use the new code on my machine but you can test it with: \usemodule[newotf] before \starttext (or in cont-loc.mkiv). It appears that the newotf mechanism does not handle .ttc fonts. Hello ConTeXist. Within the one very complex problem I need to solve the following case. I want using lua code to define a macro with one optional parameter in brackets. I tried it using commands context.setgvalue, or find something on the wiki (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/System_Macros/Definitions_and_Assignments) but each time I broke a tooth on it. Can you, please, someone advise how something can be it done? Suffice some reference to solve a similar problem. Beta problem with arranging XY

Hi, It seems that the latest betas have a problem with the XY arrangement and/or \setuppaper. The attached file used to run fine, but lately all the placements are off (the address labels should be roughly centered on the A4 page). I am not sure how long ago this started going wrong, sorry (I often use a context installation from 2012 instead of the beta). Best wishes, Taco

rsync server down?

Hi, for several days, I've seen errors while using first-setup.sh to upgrade to the latest version; the rysnc command fails because of server error. I tried on different computers and several networks, so I guess it's not just me but something is amiss there. Is it the heat? But the garden works normally... All best Thomas

Math alignment

The example below shows the intended output when using original TeX code (compiled with ‘context' of TeX Live 2015): a pair of left braced formulas. The first comment shows what works in AMS-LaTeX. ConTeXt does not seem to have LaTeX style environments. FYI, for the latter, I developed [1] a long time ago more advanced ones: The environments admit hooks, i.e., code executed before and after the local group. The name can be omitted in the closing, which works also when using one environment to define a new. Integral spacing

I get too much spacing after the integrals when using ‘context’ (TeX Live 2015) - see first example below. Cf. the second example below, compiled with luatex. New btx code problem with quote protrusion

With it removed, however, quote marks protrusion looks poor when nearby quote marks in non-quotation text is allowed to protrude. The happens when there is a citation in a footnote in the quoted text. bug with bookmarks?

Dear list, I have the following sample: \setupinteraction[state=start] \placebookmarks [part,chapter,section,subsection,subsubsection] [part,chapter] \starttext \placelist[part,chapter] \startfrontmatter \chapter{Introduction} \stopfrontmatter \startbodymatter \dorecurse{2}{\part{Part} \dorecurse{3}{\chapter{Chapter} \dorecurse{5}{\section{Section}}}} \stopbodymatter \stoptext For some strange reason, with front and body matters the bookmarks for parts don’t contain bookmarks for chapters (although chapter bookmarks do contain section bookmarks). Removing \placelist[part,chapter] shows the same issue (part bookmarks not containing chapter bookmarks). And replacing \placelist[part,chapter] with \completecontent places bookmarks from front matter after the ones from the body matter. (Besides the fact that I don’t want to have sections in the TOC.) The first issue is I don’t know why there is a third column at all. I may be dowing something wrong, but where does ConTeXt read that there is a third xcell on any xrow? (I guess this might be a bug.) The second issue is that align=lohi doesn’t center vertically the cell contents. There is slightly less vertical space before the text than before it. The third issue is that spanning information isn’t read from \setupxtable, but I thas to be added at the xcell itself. Wouldn’t it be possible to read it from \setupxtable also? newbie - scite and context standalone

Dear List, I tried to install ConTeXt Suite with SciTe on Windows with this manual: http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Windows_Installation:_ConTeXt_Suite_with_SciTe Installing ConTeXt was no problem and it works. For SciTe I took Troy Simpson's Windows installer (version 3.5.7) and downloaded scintillua_3.5.7-1 from http://foicica.com/scintillua/download. I installed SciTe as the installer suggests and copied all from the scintillua_3.5.7-1-folder to the SciTe-folder. Then I copied everything from C:\context\tex\texmf-context\context\data\scite\context to the same folder. In SciTe I added "import scite-context-user" to the Global Options File. I thought that this would be all to get SciTe with ConTeXt working, but when I press Ctrl+F12 nothing happens. Have I forgotten something or is there something new? All I want is a more sophisticated editor than Texworks/Texshop, preferably a cross-platform one. SciTe looks nice and tidy so I can concentrate on my code and text. An alternative for all OSes would be emacs/AUCtex, but coming from the DTP-side, this one scares me. My main machine is a Macmini (or: two of them), but I want to get away (after 25 years) from this Apple and DTP things. My preferred OS for the future would be Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), because it was the fastest and clearest form me after testing several OSes in VirtualBox. Thanks for Your help Florian

\footnote and \note with \setupnotation[way=bypage], but it does not work with XML processing

Hello list, I have a text with footnotes that get referenced more than once. No problem for ConTeXt, since it has \footnote and \note for that. Resetting the footnote counter every page with \setupnotation[way=bypage] complicates the problem, because when you call \note on the next page, it prints the value of the counter that the footnote had in the previous page, when it should produce a new \footnote instead for the new page. Accessibility and Tagged PDFs: Bugs and Feature Requests

Context is the only Tex-based system that allows to properly tag a pdf. Tagged PDFs are one major requirement for accessibility. Indeed, in several large organizations/universities, accessibility is mandated by law, and this is a major obstacle for using Tex. In practice compliance is often assessed with Acrobat Pro's accessibility checker. Context produces a nice tag-structure, but there are some minor issues that prevent compliance to [1], and hence Acrobat Pro complains during the check. The main issues are: 1.) Elements that are not contained in the structure tree are not marked as an artifact. Consider this example: ------------------------------- \setuptagging[state=start] \setuppagenumbering [location=, alternative=doublesided] \setupheadertexts [{Chapter~\getmarking[chapternumber]\hskip1em\getmarking[chapter]}] [{Header Right}] [{Header Left}] [{Chapter~\getmarking[chapternumber]\hskip1em\getmarking[chapter]}] \setupfootertexts [Organization Name] [pagenumber] [pagenumber] [Organization Name] \starttext \startfrontmatter something \stopfrontmatter \startbodymatter some more text here \stopbodymatter \stoptext ------------------------------- Header, footer, pagenumber etc. will not be included in the tag structure. Of course this makes absolutely sense and is correct, however according to Section 14.8.2.2.2 of [1], then this content that is not in the structure tree should be marked as an artifact, i.e. /Artifact BMC .. EMC or in an advanced way with /Artifact PropertyList where the type of Artifact can be defined. It would be nice if those elements that are not included in the tag tree would be marked as artifacts by default. The same holds for \startelement[ignore] when one wants to explicitly remove something from the structure tree. 2.) Images without alternate text: According to Section 14.9.3 of [1], alternate descriptions in human readable text should be provided for images. It would be really helpful, if these could be defined in the source tex file, and then automatically added when creating the object in the structure tree. I.e. it would be nice to have something like: \placefigure[top][Image Reference]{Caption}{ \externalfigure[cow.pdf][width=10cm][alternate text = "This images shows a beautiful cow."] } The same holds for formulas: Whereas the mathml-like tagging of Context is very advanced, sometimes it might be still helpful to supply a textual description (alt-text ="The definition of the Pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2") 3.) Tag names of the resulting tag structure: Section 14.8.4 of [1] defines standard structure types, such as <H>, , <Sect> etc. Context creates a tag-tree that uses names directly representing the structure names of the context laguage, such as <sectiontitle>. This should however be mapped to something standard, such as <H>. Interestingly these mappings seem to have been considered in strc-tag.mkiv but I was unable to generate such a tagged pdf. Editing/Outcommenting things in strc-tag.mkiv didn't work for me. It would be nice if there was a switch somewhere, i.e. \setuptagging[state=start,tagnames=pdf17] - or maybe I overlooked something? 4.) Acrobat Pro always complains that the language for the whole document is not set. 5.) Tables The generated structure looks something like this: <table> <tablerow> <tablecell> ... <tablerow> <tablecell> ... Here, not only are the tag names non-compliant, also the tag structure should distinguish between the table header (THead), and table rows (TBody), c.f. Section 14.8.4.3.1 of [1]. A simple heuristic would be to always put the first line into THead tags, and the rest of the able into TBody. 6.) It would be nice if a flat tag structure could be created optionally. This is not a required feature according to [1], and in fact a properly nested structure is surely preferable for the final output; for debugging or checking during document creation however, a flat structure tree sometimes is easier to browse through. All in all, these seem to be the only issues that prevent accessible PDF documents with context. For those within an organization where accessibility is required legally for all publications, compliance to at least Acrobat Pro's checks is a huge issue. Counter[way=bypage] bug in latest beta?

In the latest beta (and also in 2014.04.01) the counter does not reset and it's equal to 3 at the end of page 2. I was managed to write a .lfg file and a type-imp-xxx file, but here's my problem. simplefonts not working with Debian 8.1

Hello list, I'm having trouble getting system fonts to load with simplefont on Debian 8.1. I'm not exactly sure how to troubleshoot this issue. This worked when Debian Jessie was still 'testing' but now fails on a machine it was working on and on a fresh install. All my fonts are in ~/.fonts and Libre Office Writer can see all the fonts and fc-list shows them as well. issue with font sizes

How to limit level of sections in TOC?

Hello, I'm not able to limit level of sections in TOC so to not show \subsubsection: ---- %\setuplist[content][level=subsection] % Doesn't work %\setuplist[content][section,subsection] % Doesn't work \starttext \placecontent[level=subsection] % Doesn't work \hairline \placecontent[level=3] % Doesn't work \hairline \section{Sec} \subsection{SSec} \subsubsection{SSSec} \stoptext ---- I studied wiki (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/setuplist) and also contextref.pdf (pg. 218) but without success. Dear list, having used ConTeXt for years now, I am the first time in need to, well, "programming" something. And I realised, I am a little bit lost. I have a rather long list of variable descriptions that I would like to typeset in a usable and readable way. Newbie, question about fonts

Dear List, at first: thanks a lot for TeX and ConTeXt. I am really new to CoTeXt, TeX and LaTex, sorry. I come from the other side, from the DTP-side (the dark side). I have been working for more than 20 years in the graphics and prepess business with the mouse (only at the beginning some weeks playing with Linotype Series 300 and Linosetting and one day Berthold's ProfiPage). I managed to redo a simple old job with context: the book block of a novel, incl. front matter and fonts from my own library. Even the first results were amazingly beautiful. Now I want to redesign an academic journal (the International Journal of Conflict and Violence, www.ijcv.org) that I currently set with tango (something like Scribus or InDesign). I have got most of my font working with ConTeXt, but this time I failed. I can not get the ITC Franklin Gothic working. My installation is ConTeXt standalone on linux mint. I installed the otf-fonts by copying them into the directory ~/context/tex/texmf-fonts/opentype/FranklinGothic/ . Then I run "mtxrun --generate" in the terminal. How to typeset differential (math)?

Hello, how to typeset differential in math correctly? Here are my attempts: ---- \definemathcommand[dif][nolop]{\mfunction{d}} % Based on http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Math/functions \starttext \startformula \sin x {\tf d} x \stopformula \startformula \sin x \dif x \stopformula \stoptext ---- But: - case 1: there is no space between "d" and "x" (should be similar to that between "sin" and "x") - case 2: "d" in the formula is shifted down (?!) somehow. So - ? Other questions: I need to typeset some math text. - Variables should be typeset slanted, which is OK (see "x" in the example). - Functions (sin, log... "d" in df/dx) should be typeset non-slanted - I guess \definemathcommand is supposed for this (or is there a better way?). - Vector variables should be typeset bold slanted - is there a special command for this? Problem with rfc4180splitter in last beta?

Hi Hans, I encountered while experimenting with the latest beta version of standalone context to a problem when using the splitter. When I process without header file then compilation crashed when you compile the latest beta version. Conversely, the processing of a header file is no problem. ConTEXt while compiling the 2014 TL is fine in both cases. I do not know from which beta version was a problem, I discovered it by accident until now. Send minimal example. When gCSVHeader = true everything is OK when it is gCSVHeader = false and compilation fails. TikZ and wrong drawing order

Hi, I would like to ask for help for either finding a fix or some clever workaround for the following problem. If I use a TikZ picture as item symbol and additionally use background text, then the first symbol in itemize environment gets covered by the background. First page after standardmakeup gets page number 0 in table of contents

Hi, I'm experiencing a weird issue. The first page after standardmakeup ends up with page number zero in table of contents. Here's a minimal example: \setuphead [chapter] [page=odd] \setuppagenumbering [alternative=doublesided] \starttext \startstandardmakeup title page \stopstandardmakeup \chapter{first} \chapter{second} \title{TOC} \placelist[chapter,section][criterium=all,alternative=c] \stoptext This prints TOC 1 first .......... 0 2 second ......... 3 But the first chapter is on page 1. A temporary workaround was to prepare a separate document with the initial pages (and print them separately and merge the pages with an external tool), but it would be great to solve this properly. Since this is a major change, rather than simply editing the wiki page, I have created a new page[2]. Sourcemirror at gitorious is closing down, where to find it then?

Asterisk

Hello, how to typeset "centerd asterisk" ("*") in Ctx? I mean the symbol which is used in the third level of itemization (http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Enumerations) or which can be typeset by \textasteriskcentered in LaTeX. Multi-page (split) natural tables and footnotes

Hi, How can I get footnotes working with split tables? Is this not supported? The workaround with \note[...] \footnotetext[...]{...} can only be used to place footnotes on the first or on the last page of the table. For a long multi-page table this is not satisfactory. The wiki mentions using \automigrateinserts, but it has no effect here. Any help is welcome! Blank line before placehead=empty

Hi, I have a document where I'm showing chapter titles in headers, rather than on the page in the usual place in the body text area. Using placehead=empty, what causes the blank line before the text? Is there a way to suppress it? I see there's no line when specifying placehead=no, but I want the chapter heading to appear in my TOC, so that's why I'm using placehead=empty. Or maybe there's another way to add something to the TOC without showing anything in the document. \setuphead[chapter][placehead=empty] % has an unwanted blank line %\setuphead[chapter][placehead=no] % no blank line \showgrid \showstruts \starttext \startchapter[title={Something}] cows cows hasselt \stopchapter \stoptext Thank you, -- Kate

At one point, it looks like there was an (automatically?) generated XML file of the ConTeXt user interface; the most recent version of this that I can find is from 2006, and appears (the English version, anyway) to be out of date. Is there a more recent version of this available? And, if not: could there be? Thanks! -Paul

Hello, I ran into the problem with `\biburl': \biburl{http://computing.llnl.gov/tutorials/mpi_performance/#Protocols} reports an error due to '#'. Escaping \biburl{http://computing.llnl.gov/tutorials/mpi_performance/\#Protocols} does compile and is displayed correctly, but when clicking this URL it brings me to the http://computing.llnl.gov/tutorials/mpi_performance//#Protocols rather than http://computing.llnl.gov/tutorials/mpi_performance/#Protocols Do you have any suggestions on how to overcome this problem? ConTeXt not defending the right margin

I am using "mtxrun | ConTeXt TDS Runner Tool 1.31" In real life I get documents that have long blank lines which are a sequence of underscore characters. I have to transcribe these into ConTeXt file. But when compiled into a pdf file the long resulting rule line infringes on the right boundary. What can I do, to get ConTeXt to maintain the boundary and display the lines as intended? bug in latest beta?

But with latest beta from 2015.05.24 12:42 (or even with beta from 2015.05.15 11:42 includes a wrong page break. The setups for widow and orphan lines move the two last lines to the next page. [BUG]: `referenceprefix' in `\setuphead' ruins `\cite'

Hello, I think I've experienced a severe bug here. Consider the following: \setuphead [chapter][% referenceprefix={chapter}, ] ... \cite[xxx] ... \startpublication[ k={xxx}, t={...}, a={...}, y={...}, ] ... \stoppublication \startchapter [title={BIBLIOGRAPHY}] \whitespace \placepublications \stopchapter will render [[error 2]] in place of `\cite[xxx]' because of `referenceprefix' in `\setuphead'. Why? I don't believe `referenceprefix' in `\setuphead' should have something to do with `\cite' at all. Thankfully, it's pretty rare that one uses `chapter' for bibliography, but still I think it's better to fix this. For instance, right now the following works fine for me: \setuphead [chapter][% referenceprefix={chapter}, ] \setuphead [title][% referenceprefix={}, ] ... \cite[xxx] ... \startpublication[ k={xxx}, t={...}, a={...}, y={...}, ] ... \stoppublication \starttitle [title={BIBLIOGRAPHY}] \whitespace \placepublications \stoptitle NOTE: It's extremely important to explicitly do `referenceprefix={}' for `title' because somehow `title' inherits `referenceprefix={chapter}' from `chapter'; and therefore, not doing `referenceprefix={}' will again result in [[error 2]] in place of `\cite[xxx]'. Automatic character replacements/substitutions

Hi, Can someone please help me remind how to automatically "replace" a Greek letter (gamma (γ) in particular, but I wouldn't mind if the whole alphabet would be replaced) with $\mathgreekupright γ$. The OpenType font (Lucida) doesn't have Greek characters (except for maybe μ), but the math alphabets in the math font are complete, so I would like to automatically use the characters from the Greek math in main text (possibly upright math in upright text and italic math in italic text). Of course I can always create a shortcut for $\mathgreekupright γ$ but it would be great if things like "γ rays" or "α particles" would be typeset "automatically". Thank you very much, Mojca

Hello, Is it possible to calculate the position of something in Metapost, and to export that value to TeX such that I can use it in setups and things? I thought perhaps I could \def inside btex..etex. With the construct \startembeddedxtable\xmlflush{#1}\stopembeddedxtable placed inside a \midaligned I used to get a neatly centered content. But now the material is shifted to the right, even sticking out of the page. Has something changed in the embeddedxtable alignment handling since the end of 2013? (The embeddedxtable macro was needed because the typeset material exists inside \startbuffer..\stopbuffer.) Hans van der Meer

Force to display page number on the `makeup' page

Hello, I have a special `makeup' for the abstract page: \definemakeup [abstractpage] I also have general `makeup' setup: \setupmakeup[ doublesided={no}, pagestate={start}, page={yes}, ] The footer is available from general `layout' setup: \setuplayout[ footer={16pt}, header={\zeropoint}, margin={\zeropoint}, ] Page numbering comes from general `pagenumbering' setup: \setuppagenumbering [location={footer}] I'm aware that `makeup' pages don't display page numbers even though they can count them with the `pagestate={start}' setting. However, for this particular `makeup' (`abstractpage') I would like to force the display of page number. I've tried \startabstractpagemakeup \setuppagenumbering [location={footer}] ... \stopabstractpagemakeup in hope that `makeup' simply sets `location=' behind the scenes to hide the page number, but it seems that I was wrong. How to properly `\setuplayout' for several pages and then restore back?

Hello, I have a table of contents that now has grown to span several pages. Hello, Consider the following: \definesynonyms [ACRONYM] [ACRONYMS] [\FULL] [\SHORT] \ACRONYM{DLL}{Dynamic-Link Librar\doifnextcharelse{s}{ie}{y}} Why \FULL{DLL}s does not do what I expect it to do?
