font size and style

Calling "\bf\tfa TEXT" for example leaves the TEXT not in bold because \tfa does not respect the current style. As does \small, etc. Shown by looking at the meaning of for example \small: \small=protected macro:\triggergroupedcommand {\setsmallbodyfont \tf } and \tx=protected macro:\currentxfontsize \plusone \ifmmode \scriptstyle \orelse \ifconditional \c_font_inherit_scale \font_scale_inherit_x \else \font_scale_defined_x \fi \al ways\let \tx \txx Thus in contrast \tx and \txx do respect the current style setting. My question: It seems most convenient if I could retrieve the current style and reset that after a size command. I rather would refrain from tinkering with those. Hi, I'm setting up a new computer, and I've wanted to benefit from the new module installer. However, the commands I should use gives me the following error message : mtxrun --script install-modules --list mtxrun | unknown script 'install-modules.lua' or 'mtx-install-modules.lua' I'm using a fresh context installation (2023.05.08 17:39) on Windows. I've see a couple of others had/have( ?) the same issue. It does not matter from where I run the command (i.e., I'm getting the same error message also from inside context\tex) Is there anything I should do to make this work? Best, Denis

text under page floats

Hi, in more than one of my books, I struggle with some lines of text below page floats. They start below the regular text area (i.e. in the bottom) and can even consist of a table float or a section title. I can’t reproduce it in a simple example like this: """ \starttext \dorecurse{2}{\samplefile{tufte}} \startplacefigure[location=page,title={Pagefloat}] \framed[width=\textwidth,height=.5\textheight]{TEST} \stopplacefigure \dorecurse{5}{\samplefile{knuth}} \stoptext """ What could cause this behavior? How to really force figure to appear "here"?

I have been using \placefigure[here, force] to place some graphics, but its instead showing other text from the next section, then the picture. In testing, this is causing readers to be confused, as they expect to see a picture, but its somehow appearing two pages later. I don't care it it requires a huge blank area on the page before it, how can I make it so any text after \placefigure[here, force] doesn't appear before the figure? --Joel

I tried debugging the error further, but this is well beyond my understanding. (Also, paintreaders[6--11] in font-dsp.lmt are missing "offset" in the function signature, and paintreaders itself is glboal. Maybe related?) I'm using the current latest (2023.05.08 17:39). position in xmlfilter

I do not understand the behaviour of certain function is xml processing. My problem is finding the position of the current node, for example with <A><B><A> I would like to see the first <A> resulting in 1 and the second in 2. The result of some experiments: return=[\xmlfilter{#1}{../tag()}] returns the parent tag, in this case [setup] as expected return=[\xmlfilter{#1}{./tag()}] returns the tag, in this case [example] as expected return=[\xmlfilter{#1}{../position()}] returns [] i.e. returns nothing expecting a number return=[\xmlfilter{#1}{./position()}] returns [] i.e. returns nothing expecting a number return=[\xmlfilter{#1}{../index()}] returns [0] expecting a number larger than 0 return=[\xmlfilter{#1}{./index()}] returns [0] expecting a number larger than 0 dr. Layout with equal margins.

Dear Friends, I played wih hte setup and read the posts on the list. Apparently the mechanism for setting different margins can be confusing at times. At least, it is for a beginner. I want to create 2 versions of my book: Version 1: Goes to printing with different inner and outer margins due to binding and so on, Version 2: Can be downloaded and the left and right margins are equal size. I want ot keep the 6x9 size of a page, which is: 432x648pt. The sum of margins in both cases is 120pt. It leaves 312pt for the text content. When I do hte following: \setuplayout[ alternative=doublesided, width=fit, height=fit, leftmargin=60pt, leftmargin=60pt, ...] The makeup width and text width is calculated as 472pt and the margin appears to be set just on one side. I set both cutspace and backspace to 0pt. I assumed that either value is a particular area of the page. Has any one of you handled such a case? I'll be very glad to get some directions. I can create a simple document with modes or documents to illustrate my case if needed... Thank you, Pawel
