serial letters

How would you approach serial letters, e.g. to all members of a club? (Actually I need to send out donation receipts.) I’d like to use the letter module, since my usual letter design is using it. I can export the addresses to CSV, JSON, Lua tables or whatever or transfer them to a SQLite db. Would it make more sense to read them in Lua and combine this data with a buffer, or to write a single tex file for every letter? I know how to do the latter, but I’d like to learn a more ConTeXt-ish way. Would it make sense to use the bibliographies module? Status of Asymptote

Dear all, I'd like to know what is the status of Asymptote in Context. To my knowledge, metapost/metafun only support 2D (except with the additional libraries from Roegel, which would have to be cleaned up a bit). Otherwise, what shall be used for 3D drawings in Context? TikZ? Something else? Thanks in advance. Alex

Firefox doesn't show the "yes", nor Acrobat X, but SumatraPDF does. I modified your definition as: \definefield[test][check][cbox][][] And now the "yes" doesn't appear. Nested itemize

Dear all, I'm struggling to setup a nested itemize with no blank line and several columns. Can ConTeXt write its pdf to a different directory?

My .tex file is in a directory within my working directory. I would like ConTeXt to write its output in the same directory as my .tex file. But it writes to the working directory. This was asked 10 years ago: `tex.stackexchange.com/questions/67928/how-to-set-output-directory-in-context-command` The answer given then was to use: `context filename --result=output-directory/filename` But this doesn't work now. When I compile my .tex file, I get a message: `results are to be on the running path, not on 'output-directory', ignoring --result` I've looked in the wiki: `https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Context` Thank you, Peter

Super slow installation

Hi, Installation of a fresh copy of LMTX has gone from a few minutes to about 30 minutes. Here's what I ran: 1. Open terminal 2. Change to root 3. cd /opt 4. mkdir context-2023-05-29 5. cd context-2023-05-29 6. wget "http://lmtx.pragma-ade.com/install-lmtx//texmf.zip" 7. unzip texmf.zip 8. chmod +x install.sh 9. ./install.sh mtx-install | unzipping 'texmf-context.zip' 518 files of 5180 done, 81058499 bytes, 0.403 seconds ... snip ... 5180 files of 5180 done, 171691491 bytes, 1.035 seconds mtx-install | installing tex/texmf-context, 4924 files mtx-install | new : 0 % : 2447 : tex/texmf-context/context-readme.txt ... snip ... mtx-install | new : 48 % : 21898 : tex/texmf-context/doc/context/sources/general/manuals/about/still-expanding-10.png Getting to this point has taken shy of 15 minutes. Any ideas what's going on or how to fix it? Note that upgrading against the version prior to 2023.05.29 (i.e., without re-installing from scratch), the process happens pretty quickly. Thank you!

font style and size interaction

There is -- in my perception -- a problem with the interaction between font style and font size changes. The order of calling for example \it\small matters because \small\it leads to a different result. I would however reason that size and style changes should be in orthogonal spaces, that is: the one should have no effect on the other. Cause of this behaviour seems the \tf call included in small. See the accompanying example. I can try to program around this, but I would prefer not to. Is there a possibility that this behaviour will be changed to \it\small and \small\it giving the same result? dr. Hans van der Meer
