issue with framed texts

Dear list, I have the following sample: \defineframedtext[backcover] \setupframedtext[backcover] [frame=off, offset=overlay, width=\textwidth] \starttext \startframedtext[backcover] \input zapf \stopframedtext \stoptext Using current LMTX (2022.04.20 19:18), I’m afraid no format from \setupframedtext is applied to the backcover framed text. Can anyone confirm the issue or explain what I’m doing wrong? Just in case it may be relevant, I’m on Linux 64bit. Many thanks for your help, Pablo

cropoffset reduces paper size

Hi, at least in the current and previous LMTX beta, the paper size gets reduced if I use cropoffset as well as \setupinteractionscreen. (It is known that the PDF box settings only work with the latter.) In the MWE below, paper size gets reduced by cropoffset: \setuppapersize[A4] \setuplayout[ cropoffset=10mm, ] \setupinteractionscreen[ width=max,height=max, ] \starttext \showframe \samplefile{knuth} \stoptext If I set: \setuppapersize[A4][A4,oversized] \setuplayout[ marking=on, location=middle, cropoffset=7.5mm, ] Then the resulting paper size is A4, because the "oversized" factor is nulled by the crop offset. While I can work around this "feature", the behaviour is different from earlier versions. Can’t check with MkIV, since that doesn’t work any more, as reported by Pablo et al. Hraban

Why can I no longer place \input inside table after update?

After I ran an update on ConTeXt, my code gets an error: \starttext \starttabulate[|p(.3\textwidth)|p(.7\textwidth)|] \HL \NC {\bf Term} \NC {\bf Definition} \NC\NR \HL \input test2.tex \HL \stoptabulate \stoptext File test2.tex contains "\NC {\bf Term} \NC {\bf Definition} \NC\NR". I also tried defining a macro earlier in the document... \define[2]\tablewordis{% \NC \NC \NC\NR \NC #1 \NC #2 \NC\NR } ...then placing that in test2.tex, e.g.: \tablewordis{my word}{my definition} I get the error: " The file ended when scanning an argument." Before the update, this code worked fine. How can I \input a file while inside a table environment, as above? Thanks, --Joel

Font too small with a macro

Hello, If I compile with context the expected result is correct but with lmtx the font under the square root is smaller. Thank you Fabrice \protected\def\exp{\text{\normal exp}} \starttext \startformula \sqrt{\exp(x)}=\exp\left(\frac{x}{2}\right). \stopformula \stoptext

New Tool: tree-sitter-context_en Parser

Hi, everyone! I've been working on an updated tree-sitter parser for the ConTeXt file format. The parser has pretty good support for parsing a ConTeXt .tex file and producing a syntax tree for that file (and, optionally, highlighting). The parser also has support for using appropriate parsers for areas of the document that embed other languages or formats. For example: a tree-sitter parser for Lua code already exists, and this parser can call out to that parser to handle any properly demarcated Lua code (\startluacode ... \stopluacode) present in a ConTeXt document. A full list of supported inclusions (with or without available parsers), along with additional notes, are in the Garden: https://wiki.contextgarden.net/pm39_tree_sitter_parser ...and the repo for the tree-sitter-context_en parser itself is here: https://github.com/pmazaitis/tree-sitter-context_en Tree-sitter parsers support lots of language bindings with which to build tools; I've put together a very badly engineered format-aware spellchecker as a demo (may have trouble with Windows EOL encoding): https://github.com/pmazaitis/contextpyspell-demo Please, please do not use this demo in production. :) A massive caveat regarding OS support: So far this has been all developed and tested under MacOS, and seems to work pretty well in that environment. I've also tested running the parser on Linux (Ubuntu), and that was also fairly straight forward. In either case, Rust and a C compiler are required for directly using the parser (and you'll also need node/npm to rebuild the grammar itself, if you want to make any changes). I have a Windows 10 machine, and the development environment on it is a complete puzzle to me. I am learning, but: running this parser under Windows isn't something I've been able to get working. If you have Windows development experience, I'd be happy for any advice on how to support this software on that platform. A second, massive caveat for Windows support: this parser should be agnostic about how line endings are encoded, and I've done minimal testing, but it should have a lot more. Looking forward: - This parser is...lightly tested. (More testing of more domains would be helpful!) - This tooling should be useful for small utilities: a linter, a formatter, a better spellchecker? - This tooling should be useful for LSP support? Centering figures that extend into the margin

Hi, I've been playing around with 'marginnote' layout similar to tufte's books. The main thing that I can't figure out is how to centre figures that extend into the margin. These should take over the whole page, but the content of the figure should be centred, which is normally the case in normal figures. Below is my try of defining a marginnote that does this, by calculating the textarea size and setting the width to that. However, I can't seem to then figure out how to center the externalfigure inside of the figure. Thanks in advance! Need some hints to fix my standalon installation

Hi Have updated my standalone installation from one of the 2020 releases to the latest one running ./first-setup.sh --context=latest --modules=all Now i see the strange behavior that fraction in second equation is not typeset instead typesetting math aborts after typesetting the upper part of the fraction. A short example showing this is attached (pdf, tex, and log) Therefore i have the following questions - would it help to sacrifice the updated standalone installation and do a fresh install - What else i would have to check and probably fix to make the math working as expected - any thing else to change -- -- Christoph Hintermüller Dipl.-Ing. embed source-file in pdf

Hi there just a quick question: Is there a command or package to embed the source-file (*.tex) into the resulting pdf-file, just like in LaTeX using package »embedall« <https://mirror.las.iastate.edu/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/embedall/em…>? Many thanks and kind regards Heinrich

Hi Pablo Many thanks. That is exactly what I need, ie. to deliver the source code embedded in the PDF. attachment works like a charm Rik pointed me — additionally — into the direction of being PDF/A compliant. PDF/A is possible with setupbackend\setupbackend[format={pdf/a-3a}] but needs fixing with acrobat-preflight to pass validation (in Acrobat and veraPDF).
