missing "{ }" in metafun.

Hi, Set notation “{}” is OK in TeX mode. But it is missing in the output of the metafun code. Here is an MWE. It is same in two different versions. tlig feature sometimes does not work

Hi, Since most fonts do not have the standard tex ligatures built in, I tend to add them when I load the fonts. Once in a while, I run into fonts where this does not work. See the attached tex/pdf files. I basically load the font as follows: \definefontfeature[tf][arabic][tlig=yes] \definedfont[dejavusansmono*tf] This works fine for DejaVuSansMono and for one Farsi font I use ( https://github.com/rastikerdar/vazir-font/blob/master/dist/Vazir-Regular.ttf) but not for this other Farsi font ( https://github.com/aminabedi68/Mikhak/blob/master/Font/ttf/Mikhak-Medium.ttf) Perhaps this is because the last font is not standard, but TrueType/OpenType standard is sometimes up for interpretation. I see two strange symptoms here: \showotfcomposition displays the tlig feature differently for the last font. It appears in the "extra" list, not in "basic". Why is that? What does this mean anyway? In the pdf, you see two unicode characters U+647 and U+654 following the numbers and dashes. This usually has a ligature turning the two characters into U+6C0. It happens for VazirRegular but not for Mikhak-Medium. Why is that? I have looked in the font: the ligature exists. I have seen that working in this demo page (https://aminabedi68.github.io/Mikhak/) though it may be hard to spot. Why is that? Is there something about the ordering of OpenType features which causes this behavior, or is there a bug in the font processing code? Best, MHB

printing the current date

Hi, I would expect, that \currentdate prints the current date, but it does not: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- \starttext \date[d=1]% first day of this month, ok \date% again first day, last parameters are used, this is ok \currentdate% same as \date, but I would expect the day of today... \stoptext --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- How could I print the current date please? issue with \in and \xmlrefatt

Hans, after the fix in current latest (2021.03.09 11:42), I get the following error when using \in[\xmlrefatt{#1}{href}] in Windows (Linux has no problems). margin in TocEntry definition

Hi list, I have: \define[1]\SectionTocEntry{% #1\crlf% title \doifnot{\structurelistuservariable{author}}{}{\structurelistuservariable{author}}% } which successfully gives me a ToC with: Chapter title Author name But I want the author name indented by .5cm and do not know how to use 'margin' in the above definition, or some other way of getting the indentation. I have tried various versions of 'margin' before the \doifnot part of the definition, but to no avail. Hopefully I can achieve: Chapter title Author name Julian

lmt_outline

Hello, Hans said he's in the metapost mode now :) I have used lmt_outline in the following example and it is really an improvement over the previous outline "effect" because one can set the fillcolor and drawcolor separately. (that was not possible before, right?) \starttext \definedfont[dejavusansmono*arabic] \setupalign[r2l] \startMPcode draw lmt_outline [ text = "سلام", drawcolor = "red", fillcolor = "white", kind = "reverse", align = "r2l", ] scaled 3mm; \stopMPcode \stoptext 1. This works well on a plain background. I can specify the background color in fillcolor and get the outline effect. When the background is an image, this does not work too well. Can we use some clip trickery to allow for "transparent" fill? Ideally I want to set the fillcolor to a special value that would lead to only the outlines drawn. Now you'd say, that was already available via the outline "effect" before. Not quite. If a character is formed by more than one curve in the font, then we'd see some lines drawn inside the character. The new lmt_outline mechanism allows one to paint over those. Which brings me to the next problem. 2. The current mechanism draws/fills the characters one by one. In Farsi/Arabic where we have joint characters, the boundaries of letters gets drawn even in the new mechanism. See the attached PDF of the above MWE. The text consists of four characters, the 2nd and 3rd form a ligature which is joined to the 1st character. The 4th char is not joined and stands alone. Now you see the red connection between the 1st char and the ligature following it. It would be nice if the text was allowed to be processed as a whole (or at least be broken into space delimited pieces) which is drawn and then filled. Thanks, MHB

Escaping reserved/problematic characters

In a program I'm writing I have a function for escaping characters which are reserved or problematic in LaTeX. I would like to have a corresponding function for ConTeXt, so I'm wondering which ones are different/superfluous/missing from a ConTeXt perspective in the following list (sorry about the formatting!): '{': "\\{" '}': "\\}" '_': "\\_" '%': "\\%" '#': "\\#" '$': "\\$" '&': "\\&" '`': "\\textasciigrave{}" '^': "\\textasciicircum{}" '~': "\\textasciitilde{}" '\\': "\\textbackslash{}" '|': "\\textbar{}" '<': "\\textless{}" '>': "\\textgreater{}" '[': '{[}' ']': '{]}' Note that I'm not looking for accented letters, Unicode quotes and dashes etc. I'm assuming that people in the year 2021 are using an UTF-8-aware engine (and my corresponding HTML escape function similarly caters only to & < > " ').
