I need to have pdf files for U.S. printers in " PDF/X-1a2001" format. Hans gave me the magic formula a few years back but I lost that reply. Can someone help me out? John Culleton

methods for numbered paragraphs

Dear syndicate, Not sure if there is a canonical way to do numbered paragraphs. In the following, I use subsections to mimic numbered paragraphs: =======section-intext.tex======= \setuphead[section][style=\bfa,after={\blank[big]},before={\blank[big,medium]},color=walayahblue] \setuphead[subsection][style=\bf,after={\blank[big]},before={\blank[big,medium]},color=walayahgreen,alternative=text,distance=0.28em] \setuphead[subsubsection][style=\tf,after={\blank[big]},before={\blank[big,medium]},color=walayahred,alternative=text,distance=0.28em] \starttext \startsection[title=Section 1] \startsubsection \input ward \stopsubsection \startsubsection[title=Paragraph 2] \input ward \stopsubsection \startsubsection \startparagraph \input ward \stopparagraph \stopsubsection \stopsection \stoptext ============== See attached output. In paragraphs 1 and 2, there is too much distance between the subsection number (subsection number + title in paragraph 2) and between the text. The distance parameter is not appropriate here, it is the distance *after* the section head that needs adjustment (even if the text portion of the head (i.e., the section title) is empty). Question 1: How do we fix the post-head distance? Paragraph three shows that one apparently cannot mix this sectioning approach with the \start-stopparagraph mechanism. Question 2: Is there a way to mix \start-stopparagraph with the above subsection approach to par numbering? I suppose that as long as I maintain exactly one paragraph per subsection, then structured output (xml etc.) should look ok. Question 3: Is there a wiser way to handle this kind of par numbering in mkiv? Thanks in advance! TeXworks or TeXItEasy as ConTeXt editors

Dear list, I’m writing an introduction to ConTeXt in Spanish. Before any new user can start compiling ConTeXt sources, I realize that I have to explain how to configure an editor for ConTeXt. Since I plan to deal with the latest beta from the ConTeXt Suite, I need to explain how to deploy it. I use Geany in Linux and Notepad++ in Windows. But they are too complex for newbies. TeXworks seems the best option to start with (and to explain to newcomers). I compile my documents with the following commands: source ~/context/tex/setuptex && contextjit document.tex I had never problems with that. But as soon as I started to test Qt applications, I cannot use this. I mean, the commands above don’t work either with TeXworks or TexitEasy. Does anyone know how to make the previous commands work with TeXworks? Setting paths is something I want to avoid, since it is potentially dangerous for newbies. Disable overlay on chapter pages

Hi, I'm trying to print chapter and section titles in the margins, and it works fine, except that the chapter title is also printed on the same page as the chapter starts, which I find unnecessary. 1) Can I somehow (probably via the right \setuphead trick) disable this overlay only on chapter pages? 2) If I want to disable it on another page, is there some smart way of doint it, or should I just set it blank and then enable it when I know I'm on next page again? /Mikael PS The code I have right now is given below. Ahoi again, I’m preparing some ConTeXt docs with a lot of examples and would like to reproduce what we have in the wiki as <context source="yes"> ... </context> i.e. sourcecode beside the result. Often the shown source is exactly what I want to show, in other cases I need some additional setup that I don’t want to show. Which approach would you suggest? Combinations? Dear Hans, I am also intersted in this issue. In the last years I am dealing with a multi-language technical lexicon. Hence, different languages refer to different columns, and if the languages are three or four, then it is better to go with two pages side-by-side. Nevertheless this seems a problem also in LaTeX redelpar (multiple columns are not supported). I tried to manage it with \linetable but without success (https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/380923/synchronise-data-spanning-ov…) I think this feature could be really interesting because, according to my knowledge, ConTeXt is at present the best way to manage the publishing of XML data. Cambria official typescript (mis)behavior

Dear gang, There appears to be something awry with type-imp-cambria.mkiv or type-imp-dejavu.mkiv. Consider the following: ======= \setupbodyfont [cambria,12pt] \starttext Test % {\it Test} {\bf Test} {\bi Test} \stoptext ======= This produces a pdf with Cambria Italic instead of Cambria Regular. Uncommenting the other three options produces the expected results. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Awaiting your advice! Hans, after testing the new \xmlinlineprettyprinttext, I discovered the following: \starttext \startbuffer[a] \command \stopbuffer \typeinlinebuffer[a] vs. \typeinlinebuffer[a][option=TEX] \stoptext \typeinlinebuffer doesn’t have \tt as default font.
