MKIV caption separator, revisited

Has any progress been made in the past few years implementing modifiable separators for captions under MKIV? This was raised as an issue by (at least) Mojca Miklavec in December 2010 (http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context%40ntg.nl/msg51542.html) and by Andy Thomas 18 months later (http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context%40ntg.nl/msg63937.html). (Their issues with stopper have been resolved. In MKIV it is numberstopper.) Here is an MWE demonstrating the problem. It compiles cleanly, but the separator remains the default period. Last version standalone ConTeXt issue.

Hello ConTeXist. In the latest version ConTeXt it stopped working my macros which contents function he once advised me Taco. It is low level lua code. Can anyone advise me what the problem is, eventually. how to replace Lua code in my function to make it work again? Macros worked at least 6 years and now crashes. Here is my function: function thirddata.handlecsv.texmacroisdefined(macroname) -- check whether macroname macro is defined in ConTeXt -- function is used to test whether the user has defined the macro \macroname. If not, it needs to define any default value if token.csname_name(token.create(macroname)) == macroname then return true else return false end end Is there any alternative (ConTeXt like), which is should be possible use in Lua code? For the Mac users: AppleScript to launch ConTeXt in a flexile way

Hello, Some months ago I wrote a little AppleScript script with one purpose: It should be a flexible script to launch ConTeXt typesetting, independently of the text editor I’m using and it should be capable to typeset the Product file even if I’m currently editing any component file belonging to that Product file. I used it for some time, I improved it, and I shared it with a collegue who also works with ConText on OSX. We’re still using it, many bugs have been fixed and some features were added. The script proved to be very useful for us and I thought, why not share it with the other Mac-ConTeXt people? So here it is: https://www.wuala.com/tflo/Scripts/Ctx%20Typeset/?key=75QkpizhdpFS As already said, the main purpose of the script is to launch the Ctx typesetting process (short: Ctx) on a file. Regarding the “a file” the script is very configurable and flexible: A) It can launch Ctx on a file currently opened in your text editor. It works with many text editors (BBEdit, MacVim, TextMate, etc.) as long as the editor is the frontmost process. B) It can launch Ctx on the parent Product file of the component file currently being edited. Defining a “Product file” can either be done semi-automatically or by hard-definition with two swappable register slots. C) If no eligible file is opend in an editor it will launch Ctx on the currently selected tex file in the Finder. The options added in the course of time are: A) Usage of a ConTeXt-Beta or a ConTeXt-Current installation, swappable B) Typesetting in the non-interactive shell or in the visible terminal C) Notifications D) Selection of PDF viewer (Skim, Preview, Adobe, …) E) Automatically calling the PDF viewer or not F) Optionally excluding generated PDFs from TM backup G) luatex or luajitex H) Beeps or no beeps, and so on I) Many other things, explained in the Description Also some features (“Tools”) have been added: A) Purging files including generated PDFs B) Info on the used Ctx version C) Updating the Ctx Minimal (Beta or/and Current) and archiving the old one D) Syntax Check E) Make formats, listing fonts, other, … F) Some extras added in the Extras folder (synctex with BBEdit etc.) G) Much more in the Description Some caveats: A) It works only on OS X B) The script is designed to work with 10.9 (Mavericks). It should also work with 10.8 (old notification via 3rdParty is still implemented). C) Out of the box it works only with the so called “ConTeXt Minimal Installation” (aka ConTeXt Standalone). It won’t work with TeXLive installations or any other kind of excessively screwed-up installations. But you can go into the script to make it work with anything. D) In order to get access to any text editor the script makes use of GUI scripting: you have to liberate the rights in the corresponding OS preferences. This may sound risky to you but the code is open so you can assure yourself of what the script does. E) You have to (and you really should!) read the Description that comes with the script. Invoking ConTeXt from inside php web appliction

I am stuggling with getting ConTeXt to run from inside a php script under Apache. First off, let me say that the installation works fine from the command line as a logged in user. Initially, I tried to do it inline: cmd = ". /opt/context/tex/setuptex /opt/context/tex/setuptex; cd $spool_dir; context $full_input_filename"; system($cmd); which returns exit status 2, "Incorrect usage". Then I created a small bash script with the following lines: #!/usr/bin/env bash . /opt/context/tex/setuptex /opt/context/tex context $1 When I trap the output, I get the following error in the log file: resolvers | caches | fatal error: there is no valid writable cache path defined I also attempted this manually at a bash prompt resulting in the same error: sudo -u www-data bash -c bin/proccontext.sh $FILENAME What would be the correct design pattern to invoke ConTeXt from a web application? Hi! The following example throws the error: ! error: (nodes): trying to delete an attribute reference of a non attribute node mtx-context | fatal error: return code: 1 \setbreakpoints [compound] \useMPlibrary [dum] \starttext \startTABLE \NC \externalfigure [foo-bar] [width=\textwidth] \NC foo bar foo bar foobarfoobar \bold{aaaaaaaaaaaa} \NC\NR \stopTABLE \stoptext Sorry for the not so minimal example. In the actual text I'm not using the `dum` library, I'm including actual graphics. So I don't believe that's the issue. It might have something to do with word breaking, that's my gut feeling. Dear all, and in particular Mojca Miklavec and Jean-Pierre Delange, who reacted to my first call for help, I think I have solved my problem. Somehow I managed to get Lilypond working from Terminal. Then I placed the ConTeXt-example with the LilyPond filter that I tried to compile in the same directory als the lilypond binary. Compiling it, as usual, from TeXShop it still did not start LilyPond and the .pdf still had: "[[output file missing" where the musical example should have been. However, compiling the file from Terminal did work. Best regards, Robert Blackstone

ConTeXt and LilyPond problem

Dear All, I am trying to get the combination of ConTeXt and LilyPond working. I copied the example that I found on http://wiki.contextgarden.net/LilyPond , changing the setups a little (I don't have the font Adobe Jenson Pro). Processing it with mkiv from april this year and earlier produces a pdf with both zapf texts and in between the text: [[output file missing. The log-file says: --------------------- t-filter . cached output file 'lilytemp/LilyPond-ConTeXt-example-27-06-16-templilypond-0.pdf' missing. Rerunning filter sh: lilypond: command not found t-filter > file 'lilytemp/LilyPond-ConTeXt-example-27-06-16-templilypond-0.pdf' cannot be found --------------------- Indeed there is no file lilytemp/LilyPond-ConTeXt-example-27-06-16-templilypond-0.pdf . With LilyPond.app itself, using TeXShop as the editor, I have no problems. (But I have never been able to get it working from Terminal, generating only messages like "cannot execute binary file" and "Permission denied" even after running sudo chmod u+x .)
