Solved: I can now use the usual \footnote{...} command and the footnote does not disappear. Unsolved: All the footnotes in the table still appear on the last page of a multi-page table instead of the actual page where they are written. To illustrate the latter problem I have a new MWE. The footnote mark in the first table row receives a footnote text on the second page - it should be on the first page. Does anybody have a solution to this? Is it not supported? Multi-page (split) natural tables and footnotes

Hi, How can I get footnotes working with split tables? Is this not supported? The workaround with \note[...] \footnotetext[...]{...} can only be used to place footnotes on the first or on the last page of the table. For a long multi-page table this is not satisfactory. The wiki mentions using \automigrateinserts, but it has no effect here. Any help is welcome! Difference between \startmakeup and \startstandardmakeup

I have been using \startstandardmakeup etc. for some years now. I note on the wiki that there is a command \startmakeup also. It is not covered in my copy of the Manual. Setup footnotes mark placement

Dear list, in the following file: \setupinteraction[ state=start, focus=standard ] \definepapersize[kindle][width=90mm,height=117mm] \setuppapersize[kindle][kindle] \setuplayout[ backspace=2mm, topspace=2mm, header=0mm, footer=0mm, width=86mm, height=113mm ] \starttext a\footnote{b} \stoptext footnote mark in the footer is not visible because of the very narrow backspace (it is placed "off-paper"). Is it possible to make the mark visible without making the backspace broader? Many thanks for your help, M. Goliński

footnote link destinations

Hans, I have the following sample: \setupinteraction[state=start, focus=standard] \starttext \completecontent \dorecurse{10}{\chapter{Chapter 1} a\footnote{b}} \stoptext Destination for footnote links are always /Fit, although the other link destinations may be different (in the sample above /XYZ). Blank line before placehead=empty

Hi, I have a document where I'm showing chapter titles in headers, rather than on the page in the usual place in the body text area. Using placehead=empty, what causes the blank line before the text? Is there a way to suppress it? I see there's no line when specifying placehead=no, but I want the chapter heading to appear in my TOC, so that's why I'm using placehead=empty. Or maybe there's another way to add something to the TOC without showing anything in the document. \setuphead[chapter][placehead=empty] % has an unwanted blank line %\setuphead[chapter][placehead=no] % no blank line \showgrid \showstruts \starttext \startchapter[title={Something}] cows cows hasselt \stopchapter \stoptext Thank you, -- Kate

Updated XML interface file?

Hello, list! At one point, it looks like there was an (automatically?) generated XML file of the ConTeXt user interface; the most recent version of this that I can find is from 2006, and appears (the English version, anyway) to be out of date. Is there a more recent version of this available? And, if not: could there be? Thanks! -Paul
