Define a new command from the command \periods[n]

Hi, Is it possible to redefine the command \periods[n] to have a line that goes from the end of the word to the edge of the page without having to play on the number n ? Steps in presentation

Hello, I tried to use some steps in a presentation. In the following conversation http://www.mail-archive.com/ntg-context@ntg.nl/msg53524.html, Wolfgang says that we can use the pre-60 module. Caption whitespace overflows page

How can I get rid of the space at the top of the first line of text on page three in the following MWE. The \setupfloats[spaceafter=none] masks the problem rather than addresses the problem directly. Playing with the size of the figures (changing them to 3cm) shows that the caption text is not pushed to the second page, just some whitespace imputed to them. This happens with TL2013 and with the latest (20140325) standalone beta. underbraces get progressively more misaligned (w/ minimal example)

Dear list, As I copyedited my book, I noticed examples where the underbraces in math formulas were not aligned vertically, especially toward the end of the book. Eventually I realized it was not due to my growing copyediting skill, and I have made the following minimal example showing the problem (I am using 2014.05.17 MkIV): \setupformulas[indentnext=auto, spacebefore=none, spaceafter=none] \starttext \dorecurse{3000}{ \placeformula\startformula \underbrace{\hbox{yyyy}}_{\rho} = \underbrace{\hbox{yyyy yyyy yyyy}}_{\rho} \stopformula } \stoptext It'll produce a 162-page file. On the formulas on page 1, the two underbraces in each equation are aligned. But there seems to be some kind of slow leak, because the underbraces become ever more misaligned. By page 162, they are visibly misaligned by maybe 3pt. If I increase the recursion count to 30000, on page 2129 the misalignment is about 30pt. Taking out the \placeformula makes the misalignment go away. I tried to reproduce the problem with plain LuaTeX, using the tex file below, but the underbraces came out aligned. \newcount\foo \foo=3000 \loop $$ \underbrace{\hbox{yyyy}}_{\rho} = \underbrace{\hbox{yyyy yyyy yyyy}}_{\rho} $$ \advance \foo -1 \ifnum \foo>0 \repeat \end Any thoughts on this very strange issue? -Sanjoy

Hanging punctuation

Hello, I tried hanging punctuation with Trebuchet font but without any success whereas for Latin Modern or Libertine (without simplefonts) it works OK. Is the \setupalign feature for hanging punctuation available for simplefonts module? Or did I forget some option? Bibliography: only surname in small caps

Dear list, I would like to have in a bibliography only surnames in small capitals, like this: MÜLLER, B. and SCHNEIDER A. (Müller and Schneider appear in small caps, but everything else like "and" is still in the default typeface.) At the moment, I'm using the old bibliography system. I am a bit overwhelmed by the new system, because I would have to setup everything from the beginning, as I have setup my layouts with \setuppublicationlayout. Now my questions are: Is it possible to achieve what I want (SC surnames) with the old and the new system? If I would do it with the old system, am I right that I would have to redefine \normalauthor or define my own authorcommand? How could it be done with the new system? I've tried to understand the file "publ-imp-apa.mkvi", but there's only an "author" value, and I don't understand how to access the name components (first name, last name etc.). Hi Joshua, I suspect it can be done in the old system, albeit by some tricks that are maybe unworthy of ConTeXt. I have not tried using small caps because I use a font that does't have them but I think it would be doable. There a in fact two tricks. The first is to put everything in the "booklet" category and enter everything except author names, year of publication and city (or publisher) in the title. The second is to make a .bbl file and edit that, including ordering small caps where you want them, just as in a normal .tex-file. In your project you input the edited .bbl-file, not the .bib-file. This way you can use all the nice mechanisms of ConTeXt for citing, footnotes and bibliography without having to bother with the tweaking of codes. I have done it this way for my wife's PhD thesis and it works perfectly. Best regards, Robert Blackstone

'excursion' and MkIV/LuaTeX
