problems with units

Hi there, I encountered some problems with the built in units command in MKIV. I provide a minimal example which should demonstrate my problems. Maybe I am doing something wrong... Balanced parenthesis.

Instead of writing $\left( x+y \right)$, I'd like to simply write $(x + y)$. For unmatched parenthesis, I would like to write $:-\unmatched)$. How can I accomplish that in context? Cheeers, André Caldas.

Broken footnote-numbering in the latest beta

Hello, When I use \setupnotation[footnote][way=bypage] in the latest beta to reset the footnote counter on each page, that doesn't work anymore. Minimal example: \setupnotation[foonote][way=bypage] \starttext Text\footnote{a footnote}, Text\footnote{another footnote} \page Text\footnote{a footnote with wrong number}, Text\footnote{another footnote with wrong number} \stoptext Jannik

Numerical Calculations

Is there a way to for ConTeXt to do basic arithmetic operations? For example, \calc{1+2} and have it return 3 or \calc{1/3.8} and have it return 0.263157894736842 (or rounded) Troy

Wrong float numbering with default=top

Hi, The setting \setupfloat [figure] [default=top] not only places the figures at the top of the page, but also messes up the float numbering (the float placement is fine). In the following example “Figure 2” comes after “Figure 3”. one small remark and one broad question

Hi all, small remark first: archive.contextgarden.net has been down for a few days now; I suppose because of the new server? And now for the overly broad question: I'm embarking on what could become a long project. One part of it is typesetting a book (with many graphics). On the one hand, it would be wonderful to use the project structure and break it down into several components to make things manageable. On the other hand, it would be great to code in xml (because I might want to publish this as a website too). can these things be combined? Does the xml engine handle xinclude (or could this be added to it)? Or would another approach be better? Thanks for your insights! All best Thomas

Transparency without colors.

Hello! In my "simplesteps" module, I'd like to adjust the transparency of the foreground color. The file tex/context/base/colo-ini.mkiv suggests that there is a way to do that: % Currently in mkiv transparency is implemented independent of color. This costs % a bit more processing time but gives the possibility to apply transparency % independently in the future. Is this useful? If not we may as well combine them % again in the future.
