Dear Wolfgang, Thank you again for the previous fix. I am attaching the same file but with a complete text. When I use the background it either comes down over the footnotes or pushes them on to the following blank page. Also see the footnote generated in the margin that seems to use the margin width when it is typeset in the footnote area. Again any help would be appreciated. Charlie

Hi, 1) how can I auto-stretch a natural table to a defined width? The default seems to be the line width, which I don't want. Setting width=... will change the per column width, which I don't like either. Loss of footnotes while using background colour

Dear all, I am making a manual for students of Irish hagiography. I am setting source material whether original or in translation against a middle gray background. When I do this as you see in the attached sample file the footnotes are not printed. I would be grateful if anyone can give me a solution. Note that a footnote inside a margin text does not print either. I am using Mark IV — log file is also attached. Thanks, Charlie

need help getting context to work on windows

I would like some help setting context to work on my windows xp machine, I don't know if here I am supposed to ask so you'll forgive me. I've also executed the setuptex.bat file. Also have the 3 configuration files mentioned in the wiki in their place. I am using last version, I have neither ruby nor perl installed, I am using windows xp sp3, both administrator and limited user accounts, same problem. Is there a way to get this work?

Typesetting url's in ConTeXt?

There's a wiki page all about typesetting url's, but I can't seem to get them to work. All I want to do is to display a url in a typewriter font, for document printing - I don't need a live link. What I want is for the output to be similar to that provided by LaTeX's url package, so that, for example: \url{https://This_is_a_url.html} would be appropriately typeset, including all such ascii characters as underscores. Dear all, I'm looking for a solution for dashed underlining. Hacking around I've come quite close, with the only problem that when the underlining begins at the start of a paragraph there gets an empty (grid) line inserted before it. Stange error with \definepalet

Hi, \definepalet [test] [one=red, two=blue, ] \normalend gives ]\doprocesscommaitem ]\relax \global \advance \commalevel \minusone \ETC. ! File ended while scanning use of \dodododefinepalet. while \definepalet [test] [one=red, two=blue] \normalend compiles correctly. Shouldn't the both be equal? Aditya

inside and outside margins (vs. 'left' and 'right' margins)

I want to define 'inside' and 'outside' margins (i.e. left and right pages are symmetrical, not the same). Reading the document 'co-pagedesign.pdf', ConTeXt talks about 'left' and 'right' margins (and other measurements). At first I thought this must be either a 'representative' left or right page (the diagram on page 3 doesn't say which), but experimenting suggests that there really is no concept of left and right pages here (despite the incredible detail that the document goes into on arranging pages etc which must understand this). In short this is a basic requirement. How do I solve it? James

Wiki: MkIV vs. MkII

Hello, I encountered a problem running an example by MkII (which seems to be default) rather than by MkIV (see related discussion on http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2011/058369.html) Although in many examples (I mean <context> ... </context> wiki source code) in doesn't matter which Ctx version is being used for compilation, sometimes it may make a difference. So I seems to me to be good: - to provide both compilation engines, MkII and MkIV, - to provide a <context> attribute, e.g. <context engine="mkiv"> or <context mark="iv"> or something like this to force the specified Ctx to compile.
